Idea:
I would propose that CCP allow ML and PL levels to influence their respective lvls on the BPC if invention is successful.

I couldn't give an exact formula of how much influence they should have, perhaps given a max result it would still be less than a fully researched t2 BPO.

As for decryptors, it could be made that only by using a decryptor can you approach or match a BPO thereby maintaining their current value so as not to nerf explorers.

Reasoning
This would still give those with t2 BPO's an advantage since invention would still never be able to match a BPO. Also someone w/o a t2 BPO would still need to go through the time and expense of researching a t1 as well as the repeated time and expense of the invention process. It also would not flood the market since you cannot just buy a t1 bpo and repeatedly copy it to get these results. Since research would be required, it would become more difficult to simply switch items on a whim.

This method would maintain the value of owning a BPO, but would also allow everyone the opportunity to compete reasonably and fairly in the market.

I'm not a fan of permanent, unfair advantages in a video game. We are all paying the same 14.99 per month so we should all be playing under the same game-play mechanics (or at least close to the same give this proposal).

If you increase the marketable value of invention results you would be decreasing the value of a T2 BPO (excluding it's value as a collectible item)

True.... As long as it was less efficient than you can make with a t2 BPO, then the changes to the T2 BPO prices wont crash, and they'll still be very profitable. At the same time, I think providing a platform for competition in game is much better than maintaining the value of legacy, bloated-price, money-printers that are unavailable.

Personally, I like the idea of improving invention, especially if it boosts the exploration profession and increases market-place competition.

It just seems to me this would be a way to end the debate, even the playing field a bit, and still allow everyone to keep their BPO's.

Good, if everyone can't have easy infinite ISK, no one should.

Apart from raising this from the dros of CQ and the leaked email

Anything to balance the playing field and make invention worthwhile in a lot of fields would be a step forward.

Rather than carrying PE/ME forward from T1 wouldn't it be more logical to allow ME/PE research on T2 BPC's derived from a successful invention, but limit the increase to say 6 steps.

This means that a -6 ME/PE BPC could be raised to ME0/PE0 and a ME-3/PE-1 could be raised to ME3/PE5.

This wouldn't affect those with T2 BPOs as they can research them as much as they like.

It would also mean that people inventing T2 Industrials could build them and compete in the market place as opposed to not botheing as those with T2 BPOs just set their price to the max the market is prepared to pay and reap 300% profit.

t2 bpo's need to be removed or an in game way of getting one needs to be added. this will at least be a bandaid.

The Nerf bat hits ships, drones, modules, ammo, etc. for game balancing all the time.
Think of how many hours you trained for a ship for it get nerfed!

It's time for the Nerf bat to hit the T2 BPO's for market balancing...

yes

t2 bpos have been a ridiculously unfair advantage for those who go them and they continue to be so.

I am a scientist first and foremost.
I am a proud owner of a number of T2 BPO's I am also a keen user of the invention system.

Inventing is a frustrating venture at times.

Research on negative level me/pe T2 BPC's I wholeheartedly support I am not sure this is the best alternative to BPO's but certainly would be an addition to current game mechanics that would be most welcome.

I would also like to see the facility to buy limited run T2 bpc's from R&D agents, revamp the R&D agent system write a few more missions for them to give out and boost the RP you get from completing the missions too.

I'm going to need to see some figures that prove TII BPO's are 'isk printing machines'. Considering how people invest in them with 5+ years projected profit expectancies calling them easy money is laughably naive.

EDIT: They USED to be that way, but invention itself is what balanced the playing field. Some tech II BPO investors took a huge hit when that was announced and are still recovering from it to this day.

For those that got them through the Research Agent lottery I can assure you their return cannot be measured in terms of the orginal isk/time investment which I believe was the OPs' point

I tink they need tio be made ass colectible items only. they done to much eveil to the t2 market allredy and they are simply money printing mashines noting els easy isk. So need to be removed complitly left as colectibles for colectioners only. Aderways question way wie have invention at all? IF t2 bpos holding 70% off merket i tink even more.

I agree that ML and PL of blueprint copy should affect invention. However my solution would be bit different;

Print with unresearched ML would have 10% greater failure change in invention than optimally researched one.

Print with unresearched PL would have longer invention labtime.

This is pretty much all what needs to be done.

Original T2 prints are what they are and you can obtain one by paying healthy amount of isk. There is no need to nerf those by trying to make current system match the old one.

Actualy there is need to nerf them complitly.
Reasons:
1. they braking makret and leave meny ppl witout job.
2. They are easy money printing mashines, with is bad.
3. Invention wil have still no point to do untill manufucturing costs from t2 bpos wil be lower than from invented bpc.
4. Invention start losing his meaning att all an ppl treined meny skil points to be able to do invention.
5. Curently t2 ship market are holdet almost complitly from t2 bpo owners, with to its bad ting.

So here are the reasons to nerf them complitly and leave only as colectibles noting els.

So you are proposing we introduce a post-invention step to improve BPCs .. the very same thing I have been spamming in all "Nerf T2 BPO" threads for umpteen years? Very Happy

Invention IS already more profitable than owning a BPO, but it requires a vast portfolio.
Being able to improve ME would allow profitability without the need for a extensive portfolio, thus opening the door for the small-timer that doesn't have alts to help run jobs.
