I'll just add my voice to the people who actually like what they are seeing and can't wait for you to include this and more in to the game. It's been a long wait, but it's finally producing tangible results and providing new and interesting expansion options for the future.

The only legitimate gripe at this point are the performance worries, so if you can address the majority of those before the launch date, you shouldn't have any large issues with the feature. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see how the rest of the feature will look like, when it gets more meat on it's bones.

Which pilot in the EVE galaxy would not be willing to try and invade a Sansha occupied solar system and destroy all their ships with an allied fleet to subsequently board the Sansha outpost with a group of space marines who will go from room to room using laser pistols and bombs to get to the Sansha headquarters to steal their collection of blueprints and blow up the outpost afterwards?.

CQ is the first step on the road to a more dangerous and more adventurous EVE.

Good work CCP, distribute more cake and coffee and keep it coming. Very Happy

I suspect that the most vocal people complaining about Incarna and performance have outdated video drivers and/or ancient graphic cards.

New drivers can be installed and if you have a shader model 2 card, you still have time to replace it.

I really hope the background music used in the sneak peak video will end up in the game somewhere, I find it quite beautiful and I don't believe I've heard it before...

Haven't read thread, just posting to say

I don't want this crap, I don't want to have to use it, see it, or have anything to do with it.

I just want a way to turn this off, and never have to think about it.

Sure, because what people with older computers want is to have to spend money upgrading their system, to run something that will never have any influence what-so-ever on any part of the game, and is nothing more than fluff.

I hope I can disable this, my laptops GPU is still using shader model 2, so i cant open the character creation, i have to do it on friends computers. When I have no chioce using the captains quarter i cant play eve or what?
Im working on a new pc but this will take time^^ hope you make a little time for us with old graphic cards of maybe a half year that people can get new pcs or graphics cards, but this one really looks nice...

Technically Shader Model 2.0 is not supported by the EVE Client so this is where your issues are coming from Crying or Very sad. It was discontinued in April and announced in this dev blog.

eve is still running, not fast and not beautiful but it works. Now im afraid of that I cant play it anymore. Like I said, the game works, the character creation not.
Well when it cant work, I need to get a new pc faster...thx for the info Zymurgist

im seriously disapointed. First, ccp talked incarna in situations like walking in stations, what we get? Only captains courters :( Sad

This is like nothing that they advertised. But since its CCP, it really is not suprise that advertisement promises stuff they cant deliver. Not sure if its good or bad thing that everyone knows ccp lies in adverts.

PS. I seriously hope i get setting in esc menu, not to load this latest unesessary lag generator. Make it optional please. I dont want to walk arround stupid room just to access my various ships, market screen or chat with friends, not to mention fitting a new ship. After all eve is sandbox and were suposed to be free to choose how we want to play.

PSS. Maybe you should get evegate to work properly first. Add skill que management, make it work even on mobile browser( witch it dosent at moment), etc...

Good job CCP - it looks nice and I'm sure can only contribute to the immersion of Eve.

One question - captains quarters in Incarna for the most part is a fancy new UI for stuff like PI ect - funtionally it doesn't bring anythign new to the game - can we expect any other goodies along with captains quarters in Incarna?

Even little things like ship rebalances and tweaks change the game fundamentally and spice up the game.....

As another person who is having problems with the duality client 'not being optimised' is there any chance we can see a 'pre release' version available BEFORE it hits live?

At the moment all I see is a black screen; the tutorial & neocom windows pop up but the actual 'graphics' part itself is all black regardless of the angle or how much I move around.

I can run the character creater without too much hassle (its a bit slow) so I would have thought this would be working as well?

can ya make the CQ crap have a optional toggle so we can turn the crap off? I wanna fly my intar-web space ship, I don't wanna play with virtual barbies.

Could we possibly have an option to not load a walk-through environment?

Please do not force us to load the station environment.

I'm not a roleplayer. I don't need or want the things I dock up to do delayed by having to pretend I'm walking around doing them.

As a roleplayer, I don't want that either. It makes no sense at all for a capsuleer to decant from their pod every single time they dock.

It can only contribute to immersion if it's optional.

I'm really looking forward to Incarna but I'd like propose change to camera view. Although chars look nice - I'd like to have possibility of 1st person view.. Also, I'd like to know if it is necessary to walk to ship hangar every time you want to undock?

I'm really looking forward to Incarna so I'm not whining for the sake of it when I say plzz plzzz reconsider making it optional =(

The fact a huge number of players have requested CCP make it optional while they remain silent and insist on CQ "replacing" current docking hanger means isnt going to be. One more thing we have to suck up.

As for CQ itself.....I think its pretty limited and its novelity will wear off fast, become downright annoying if mandatory for every dock. But I AM looking forward to the iterations following it, and introduction of Incarna itself :D

Looks great. Question / Suggestion:

I think it would be great if the messages on screen were managed and definable by the owner of the station. So in NPC owned station you will get the usual incursion messages etc.

If the station is owned by a corp I think it would add to the immersion if the corp decided. They could choose which of the standard messaged to include and add their own:

- Next CTA
- etc

I love having my own quarters! It's been a huge dream of mine coming true! Three questions, though:

1) Do we get Quarters at every station? Or do you have to pick like a basis-station somewhere?

2) Do you have to pay for Quarters?

3) If you don't have to pay for Quarters, can you actually pay for them? For additional space/furniture, etc.?

Posted - 2011.05.26 12:35:00 - [263]

Its starting to come together and looks good however;

- The ship in the Hanger is still not large enough. It doesnt represent the scale. I really hope you guys fix this. The original version of Incarna had it right (video link is in another thread)
- There should be a button/option to de-pod. Just like in ALL of the video's that have been show about Incarna!

Im not quite sure why you would show us (many times) we had the option to NOT leave the ship should we so choose, and now you are reversing your position on that without so much as an explanation.

I really enjoy this game, and I look forward to playing the Incarna aspects of it. Unfortunately not all the computers I play EVE on are capable of running the CQ as it currently stands. This means I can no longer play the spaceships part of the game on those computers.

"The neocom is accessible in CQ" is not really helpful either, since it's CQ that is causing the problem, not the lack of neocom (not to mention that the fitting window doesn't work on the one machine I have that can run Incarna).

Releasing CQ is too big a step in obsoleting older cards. If it was made optional, people with older cards would have a big teaser to encourage them to upgrade. Locking them out of the game is not encouraging them to upgrade, it's encouraging them to find another game to play.

You can undock at any time by pressing the undock button on the Neocom.

Don't try undocking on Duality with any ship that has turrets fitted though, you'll get stuck at a black screen and even logging out and back in again won't help.

We'll have captain's quarters at every station - they're more or less like motel rooms.

2) Do you have to pay for Quarters?

What I've read so far indicates that they'll be free, one-size-fits-all quarters.

Captains quarters is looking really nice but i fear performance will be bad on low-end pc's and/or laptops. Functionality should come before eyecandy. Having a button to exit the pod would lead to even more immersion, but perhaps prevent any performance issues because the player on a low-end pc/ laptop can simply be given a choice.

Getting into a smelly, sweaty, fragile flesh and blood body (take no offence Wink) should be a last resort for any immortal spacefaring being in eve online... Not mandatory.

Although Kuvakei would probably disagree Very Happy

I'm unsubscribing because I have tested it, and I can no longer play the game.

I can afford a decent system and commend ccp for advancing Eve. … Sad if some subscribers won't have the capital to upgrade to a nicer gfx card to see how sweet it really is. Well, you can't please everyone.

Good for you that you have the disposable cash to just upgrade your gaming rig with one month's notice! Some of us don't live with our parents and have to actually budget for these things in advance.

As my computer isn't from the stone age I don't really care if you end up in station directly, however I wouldn't have anything against ending up in hangar first with an option to go into the station.

In that case, when you press that button I'd want to have a cut-scene where I see a crane or something swing in towards my ship, pick up the pod, and move it over to the "hatching" area. Then see the cut-scene we've seen in the teaser where a capsuleer is "hatched". During this time I would expect the station environment would have time to load even on the slowest computer, and you'd be given control over your now newly hatched character.

You'd probably want something quicker going the other way (into ship from station) if you're in a hurry.

I am looking forward to this. A small start, but a start that indicates that a lot of hard work has already been done and things can move on quickly now.

I just hope it exploited to its fullest by CCP and we (the players)get a real kick out of it.

Nice work guys/girls!!
