Project "Genesis"

The project consists in gathering old EVE "stuff" from Dec 2002 (Beta 4) and forth (screenshots, video, patchnotes, Etc) and tell a EVE history from a player point of view, from the beginning.

Taking upon such a project is not an easy task, simply because its buried deep inside my mind and although i can remember many awesome facts/lore... i can't quite place them in a correct time line.

So a lot of hard work and time will be spent reading/watching material that you players/devs provide in this thread such as patch notes, stories, lore, pictures, movies, things you remember and i don't.

The end goal to deliver a story told in first person on how the game felt back then and evolved during the years... Try to deliver that experience into readable chronicles so that new players know what it must felt playing EVE since 2002.

I found this Timeline but i want more. So i plea to everyone that have old stuff back in their HDs and "skulls" to post it over here so i can start developing this project.

I took some time to digitalize my EVE hard copy from 2003. This and all other old stuff will be helpful. Contribute with yours. (unfortunately i don´t have much since the HD that had the old stuff fried a few years ago)

CD Cover
EVE CD
Instruction Manual
Amarrian Timeline
Caldari Timeline
Gallente Timeline
Minmatar Timeline

Tks to all contributes.

Myself think CCP should redo the first intro and release as the thent intro. It explains EVE the best. They should of never changed the intro, just made it better with the new graphics and made as a movie version not a slide show and it would of been the best intro ever made.

So CCP remake the the first intro. THIS ONEVery Happy

I agree with the comments about the original intro video. It still gives me goosebumps. Something was lost along the way with the newer ones.

"On the strength of your wings the fate of empires & the hopes of worlds will be decided. Take control of the destiny that is rightfully yours."

Those are some moving words, Why change perfection?

One thing that will need a decent amount of research is what happened during the GFC.

It seems Dr. Eyjólfur Guđmundsson was pulled off all Eve work and put onto saving the company from the countries financial collaspse,
delaying quarterly reports for some time as his time was dedicated to bookkeeping and market stuff.

At this time it would appear that CCP has been told "That was close, you need moar".

Few months later Hilmar announces that the new subscriber target is 600k (double).

Dev resources are switched towards outside products and this new subscriber target, all work on EveOnline itself ceases.

With the focus on "diversification" CCPs flagship product begins to fail badly.

Be interesting to see in black and white the exact timeline of fail since the 600k push.

Indeed. Memories. And brief unwilling moments of feeling old, somehow, a little.

This is literally the best trailer, always seem to find The Who's music in the most unfitting places.
