"In Windows Vista/Windows 7, it's possible that the sound has been turned off in the Windows Volume Mixer. To access the Volume Mixer, first start the EVE client, then left click on the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner in the System Tray (next to the clock), and click on the Mixer link. Once the Volume Mixer window opens, locate the EVE client in the list, and make sure the volume is turned up for the EVE client.

Checked the mixer panel and both EVE clients had their volumes turned down. How this happened I have no idea, since I had never even used the mixer controls before, but there you have it.
Necroing this thread to say I'm having the same problem on all my clients-- Windows volume is turned up + sound is fine in all other programs, but even with all the volume sliders in EVE maxed out the EVE sound is barely audible.
Can't figure out what the hell's going on.
I, too, am using an X-fi (the "extreme music" one). My drivers are fairly recent, but the problem with the EVE sound is more recent than my latest driver update, so I'm thinking it's something specific to EVE. |
