Zedrik, just an FYI:

The items (Sleeper Drone AI Nexus) in the contract you accepted are the blue NPC loot dropped by sleeper battleships. Assuming they were farmed in a C4 or lower he would have had to killed 422 battleships for that ammount of loot. That is at minimum 60 c4 sites, 211 c3 sites or 422 c2 sites. In the case of socratic that seems extremely (understatement ftw) unlikely, this is higher end group content. Ask yourself this: if he did the sites himself why hasn't he simply sold the loot and converted it into isk & offered that to you in the contract?

A much more likely explanation for where those came from emerges once you consider that RMTers place buy orders for 0.01 isk higher than the NPC buy orders in the same stations as the NPCs. They then transfer via some method (conjecture: drop in a can, contract, direct trade or something) these items between characters to launder it and deliver it to the person purchasing the ISK. This is the only explanation I'm aware of for why anyone would buy an item for 0.01 isk more than its market value.

TLDR: the items you have accepted via contract are very likely the procedes of RMT. His claims of bilking RMTers is likely a fabrication and he buys his isk. In your shoes I would be careful you don't get woven into this chain. Petition it and let the GMs determine whether that isk is "safe" or not. I would wager that the station he contracted those items to you also contain the NPC buyers for that loot.

Oh, I've suspected he is an isk cleaner for a while. He claims he 'steals' from RMTers.

My theory goes something like this:

1) 'steal' from the RMT crowd.
2) Use the isk to buy stuff the RMT folks create...Gilas for example.
3) Look real pimp in your T2 fit pirate and faction stuff. And get it blown up often so it doesn't look too suspicious as you buy them by the freighter full.

You don't have to worry about Petitions Genji... let us say that I'm relatively well covered in that direction. (That, and I've not gone and spent it all either, so if it all evaporates, that's just fine)

Otherwise, continue on :)

It isn't harassment even if you aren't being paid. Depending on how you do it. I will admit that I've skirted this particular issue many times in the past. For reference:
http://zedrikcayne.blogspot.com/2010/01/joe-show-tm-story-so-far.html

The first blog post containing Joe is...September 8, 2009. The last word on Joe was October 25, 2010. Which would be the last time I messed with him.

As far as I've been able to figure out, as long as you stick to in game mechanics, keep out of game away from it. You are doing it right (tm). I've been told that my behavior has been petitioned many, many, many times. (Socratic himself says he has petitioned me over a dozen times.) So I'm pretty sure I am not harassing folks as per the EULA.

I can be proven wrong of course. I am not perfect. But I will carry on until I get a crowbar in the teeth. (in game)

I flew with Zedrik during an investigation - once and briefly, but if he's faking his work, he has *mad* double-boxing skills.

I barely have adequate single box skills. Anyone who thinks I'm actually running two at once is sorely over-estimating me.

Well, if you take him at his word on that then he petitioned everyone in Arnon at least a dozen times each last night.

You guys need to get him into that juicy pod again. I got too much sec status.

A Socratic Files Sidebar...

There are lines I won't cross. And while my current target is being very well taken care of, someone else in local decides to pile on and crosses the line. This will be dealt with.

While your new 'friend' is a little brusque, there is a little background story to the whole Boston Bradley v Socratic mini-soap opera..

After reading this thread, I - like so many others - stopped by Arnon to see if Socratic is actually that...stupid/bad/dumb.

At first it was like visiting a foreign country laughing at all their seemingly backwards customs. However, after awhile a pattern easily appeared.

Socratic, ever the victim, always has whatever disease that is mentioned in local--even if it is mentioned in a totally unrelated way. If it isn't him, its some close relation to him. In just 1 night of visiting Arnon, I have logs where Socratic claims to be a 61 year old with cancer, whose mother is 87 with parkinson's and something else and whose aunt(s?) I'm pretty sure he claimed both died of whatever VD was being talked about at the time in local.

There's low and there's low. Yes, it could be said that Boston was low in what he said, but, IMNSHO, Socratic is even lower for even trying to play that pity card--lying or not (but doubly so if he is lying).

Socratic eventually even turned his maladies into insults aimed at the very people trying to white knight him in local chat.

I won't lie, I too hurled vitriol at him for his attention-whoring by CONSTANTLY reminding everyone about his supposed malignancies while, at the same time, using them to as a reason to act to superior and smug to everyone else around (enemy and friend alike)

I would argue that that's not really relevant. Trolling him is one thing, but what that dude said is distinctly Not On.

It doesn't matter what Socratic said; what Bradley said is, at best, descending to his level, at which point any claim to moral (or any other kind of) superiority on Bradley's part is gone.

You only get to criticise someone like Socratic so long as you remain demonstrably better than them. As they say, the moral high ground is a good thing to have, because it provides such an excellent terrain advantage in combat. If you mire yourself in the sludge with the distasteful scoundrels below, you're going to take collateral damage, at the least, or else present yourself as another valid target.

Your defence amounts to: "But he started it!" Which is an absolutely flawless rebuttal - if you're five years old.
