The new fleet history tab is nice and all but I think you removed the ability to export a loot log to disk. I use this all the time to determine payout amounts for fleet ops. Please bring this feature back.

The loot logging is enabled by default and cannot be disabled.

Would you be so kind as to point out the location of said log?

Thrilling response. What OP ment was that there was a feature within the old loot log window, in wich you could right click the "loot log" tab and choose export. For then to get the loot log exported to a .txt file. This file could be used out of game in div. software to calculate payout to fleetmembers after ops. This feature is now lacking (Or put somewhere stupid) and making exporting the logs a real pain.

Exactly teip. I know the GMs probably have a lot of requests right now but Senior GM Xamother could at least read a post before replying to it.

If this feature was removed by mistake please add it back. If you removed it on purpose would you at least explain why?

Thanks

My apologies, it would appear that the export feature is indeed missing. I sadly don't have any work around for this at the moment.

Hey guys!

We took it out because it seems like a bit of an odd piece of information for the majority of our users. In general, having import/export features aren't really something I'm thrilled with.

Well, please put it back. It is very important tool needed for 3 party program. With out it, it gets very difficult to calculate what each member off an op should get. You then have to manually input each item, that takes ages! And I would bet that its very important for almost all people that do op together(most WH people) , and share the profits of all loot.

Of all the useful things to nerf, you choose this? If you don't like export functionality, why not remove market exports as well? You might as well remove all the API feeds as well, because they export information. And while you're at it, just remove the ability to log chat to text so people have to manually type everything out again.

This change makes zero sense, especially coming from your team. Have any of you ever been tasked with running WH ops, or mining ops, or even dividing up loot obtained from roams? The game is already spreadsheet online because the ingame tools available are quite frankly terrible, which is why I don't understand the removal.

Terrible change.

What does this mean? Are existing import and export features overly costly to current or future game performance, testing efforts or developer resources? Are these existing features a newly discovered security risk? Is this a change based upon the analysis of gathered data or one developer's whim?

Also, why must the EVE player base fill in the gaps in the patch notes, patch after patch? Is it that difficult, when making a revision to the EVE code-base, to write up a one sentence comment documenting the change? Otherwise, how does your quality assurance team know what you intended to change and ensure that the change makes it into the testing queue?

So I guess this is a awesome change for theifs that misrepresent the loot they salvaged now that I have to tally up their gains manually? Thanks for wasting my time. You don't even have a good reason.

On top of that I would bet the export feature was enterly client side. It was also hidden with a right click... If its too complicated for the average user then make the API old-people-proof too... Its not a hard change to revert.

You had the code written. Just put the button back.

Gotta echo the sentiments of the rest of the guys here. This is a terrible change. The export featuresaves us alot of time when doing pve stuff. You can extract the same information manually, but that sucks ass and leaves less time for blowing up spaceships for that one poor sucker who has to do it.

I don't see how this feature could be a bad or controversial. It's loot that someone has grabbed into their cargohold. It's clientside information that doesn't impact performance in any way.

I don't see the need for a lootlog whatsoever if it isn't a feature thats actually useful in any way. If Dim Wit or Joe Blow looted a Corpum A-type this or a Gist X-type that in mid battle, I don't care. I will never check logs to "catch" someone. I don't have the time.

hyahah, rofl. this is the best feature in eve. if i would not have exported my ui seeting, my ship fttings and all others possible exports eve client has yet offerd i would have been doomed for ages.
it happens so often that after new patches ship fittings and ui setting have gone to nirvana. i think atm you are guys are really improving the ui visiually much better , but for the user at the client end the usabality of some things get worse. please in future just think some steps to advance and look much deeper over the edges....

Wish i could report this post for being dumb... as in the removal of this option DUMB!!!! wtf do we do now whan trying to work out who mined what or mission loot, i have to sit online while in fleet and add it up? It just blows the mind how out of touch the people making the game are with the people paying their wages..

Let me guess CCP Soundwave, you have never done a mining or mission op, never had to work out payments for fleet members, which is probably why you didn't see the usefullness of such a feature.

Time to get your head out of your *** mate!

Removing an option to export loot log to file incapacitates one genuine business idea in Eve Sandbox:

Garbage handling.

Our corporation accepts large heaps of PVE/PVP/whatever -loot as long as it's on market. However, only sane way to appraise the value of miscellanous 300-or-so item stack (in order to pay hard isk to the customer) is the loot log. We generate a fresh loot log on pos by jettisoning and then picking the can. Without exported log and third party value calculator there is no standard, fast and reliable (receit for the customer, he can be in a same fleet to receive unedited log himself for checking purposes) way see the value of any huge pile.
Any other method, besides export log, is totally unusable for reasons too numerous to list here.

I understand CCP made some new code to incorporate all fleet info into a single pulldown menu, but I sincerely hope it can be either fixed or restored.
Reasons to keep the loot log exports:
+ You are keeping one occupation in Eve sandbox alive
+ In time, you would get more itemID's freed up as people learn not to let random loot gather dust on some remote stations
+ PVE-op runners can give payments to participants faster and more accurately without numbening task of writing down dozens of items manually every time - Eve is about flying NOT wordpad!

Thank you.

I been patiently sitting around thinking this has GOT to be some sort of mistake. I can't believe the level of stupidity it must have taken to remove this feature on purpose. And then to back it up with a statement indicating you don't like export options. I would have laughed if I wasn't already so aggravated by it being removed.

I have built a business on eve of paying miners to mine and paying percentage based on a per piece basis. You just shut down the business since there is no way I can handle the same sized fleets I used to be able to and still sort out the bookwork with a realistic time table. Without this export ability my op leaders FC IV skill is essentially useless now. Of course so will FC I II and III since there is no way I can handle the time involved in sorting out pay due to miners.

If you care about what your users think then please, put this export feature back in, or give it to us in an api some how. I could care less if you make it auto export every so often like chat logs do, but give us something!

You know another thing this helps with is in the middle of ops when we go link dead, or the server goes down or you need to "emergency reboot" like you just did today, if the mining op leader has been keeping up on exporting the log frequently then we have the ability to dig through the logs and pay people for what was mined/looted before the crash/emergency shut down.

Without it, we're reduced to scrolling through the list and taking screen shots of the log. Seriously, I used to think Eve was one of the most cutting edge games on the market when it came to MMO's. But then you go and remove one of the most basic things in the game. LOL

I can't believe this! We have incredibly big and complex spreadsheets linked to the exported logs. Without this we cannot possibly determine who's mined what in a large fleet mining op. We use this info to pay out exact ISK to each pilot based on their actual mined yield and not some pseudo number based on minutes in the fleet which then just tends to make everyone lazy and just sit in belt chatting instead of keeping their mind on the job.

It also allows us to run very advanced analysis of ore types mines, fleet efficiency based on individual times in fleet and volume mined, and even personal efficiencies based on current mining fit so as to make the mining ops a bit more interesting for everyone to have some targets to reach for and improve over time. It also allows me to auto-calculate exact minerals refined without having to enter anything manually.

Without the export to CSV option this all falls to pieces and will dumb-down all fleet ops to just mining randomly and getting paid a fixed price for time in fleet - that would really suck!

Please put this very useful feature back ASAP! I cannot imagine mining ops without it. ugh

There is absolutely no reason why this should be removed. I would love to see one real valid reason why it needed to be taken out. there is no real basis for it. At most it made it easier for industrial folks to do their job and run business.

Bring it back. There is no reason for it to be removed.

Like said above, eve is supposed to be a sandbox. Do what you want. Some players enjoy operating and managing mining operations, paying out to the miners for what they pull, and then using the ore.

Great. But now without the ability to export, you can't import to spreadsheet and accurately pay your miners. Puts alot of indy players business in a bit of a bind.

Any chance of getting this fixed?

Because it seems odd? Why wouldn't you ask the players what they think? Maybe a survey / poll through in game mail to ask how we feel about such a change? I cant imagine anyone seriously WANTED loot logging to go.

Anyone?

Um... Lets change old-people-proof to idiot proof.

And... If it's usefull, why not keep it in. Especially if it doesn't affect in game balance or lag, no sense in removing the option to use it.

I want to ask if CCP Soundwave actually playes this game, but like they always say, they (apparently) do.

So what do you do in EVE mate, run around in null-sec blob fleets no doubt. You do realize that this is a sandbox, and not everyone will use every single feature you have in the game.

Fixing the game is great, but ripping out usefull features for no concrete reason is just stupid, and the fact that you did it on purpose!!!

When you code something, you document it, this is where this feature's uses would have been noted, RTFM!!!!

Well, it will be nice to see the effect on the market, cause our production has stopped completely. If you don`t bring it back fast, there is bound to be some consequences that effect prices.
