Hello, I have played strategy games all my life so have picked up alot of bits and bobs of information along the way.

To mix it up a bit and to make it both easier for new alliances and harder for the bigger alliances and to help with organisation, how about having one system as a capital system of an alliance. The Idea here is to have one system that is the capital of an alliance and perhaps gives that alliance a boost in that one system eg more research slots or maybe a 5% shield bonus etc. Also in this one system maybe have a capital type of sentry gun and also guns can be placed on the gates. This would mean taking of a capital is much much harder to do.

But before you scream that its too hard etc the other side of this is that make systems outside of capital harder to control and easier to take.

This would then cause more fluid movements in regions over control. But will also help alliances not only set up in 0.0 space but also help with structure of alliances.

Currently there is no formal capital but you look at every strategy game going and there is always a primary base.

I have loads to add to this but want to throw this out there for critics ....please pull this idea apart and pick faults etc I want to iron out the creases ;)

cheers all

I like the Idea alot, but I feel that instead of another "Station" it should be a Planet.
Have normal and supercapital "docking rings" allowing ships to dock to a station like UI.

And also the ability to as you said Anchor Support Elements (Turrets, EW etc)
I don't feel that gates should be changed.

neat idea... but seems to me that the big alliances will split to utilize the benefits but still remain a coalition.
