Perhaps already asked but, will it ever be possible that FOF missiles will ever be able to ignore "aggression" (boosting, repair) from other members of your fleet?

If so, could that also be applied to drones?

Will Sov mechanics eventually be reworked with an eye towards requiring simultaneous successful assaults in the targets Sov space instead of the "need a huge fleet to chew up the massive block of hit points this one structure has" mechanic in use now?

One would expect that the ships in use and in particular the spacionics (avionics) of these ships would be sufficiently advanced as the date of the game storyline might suggest.

Yet a most simple GUI interface such as the Survey Scanner GUI is not capable of interfacing in reasonable fashion with the overlay. In particular the scanner data for a roid when you click it does not highlight the same roid on the overlay.

There are other instances of similar ice age GUI but I think you can get my point with just that one example.

On to the question. Is there some good reason for these type of "ice age GUI" issues to be on purpose or is it that the programming focus is on other more important matters?

Q: What is the predicted impact on PI material (for building Sov structures) demand and planetary usage as a result of CCP Greyscale's recent anomaly ****-up?

Q: What level of PI installation saturation does CCP predict will be necessary in order for Dust 514 'boots on the ground' to have **** to shoot?

Q: What volume of raw PI material remains in player possession after last year's POS module refining scandal when Tyrannis was first released?

Q: What is the current road map for the PI aspect of the game from the perspective of an EVE player? For Dust 514?

Q: What does CCP see as the pros and cons of having Area of Effect weaponry such as the former Titan Doomsday?

I have a follow-up to:

http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1508537&page=1#9

Quote:
The short answer is yes more tech 3 ships are coming. That idea for tech 3 industrials is pretty cool and needs further investigation. The first ships we will most likely do is something smaller than cruisers just so we can cater to the largest audience. Then follow that up with some big mama jama and maybe subsystem targeting. The bad news is these ships likely won't be here until 2014 at the soonest given all the other cool stuff we have planned. The schedule does depend on feedback though so if there is enough demand we could swap things around.

Does "these ships" that likely won't be here until 2014 refer to t3 industrials, "big mama jamas," or smaller than cruiser t3's?

Another new ship related question: The design a ship contest winners, when will we see them?

It's been apparent from the perspective of the players that supercapitals need a rebalance. ISK faucets in highsec and nullsec, as well as the mineral faucets in the drone regions and wormhole space, need to be contained. The flow of bulk minerals from one location to another needs to be less safe. The Drake, Hurricane, Tengu, and Dramiel are too powerful, and all of these issues have been this way for two years now. Do you concur with this analysis and if so, will you commit development efforts in forthcoming expansion cycles to fix these problems?

long form:
Eve Online's general balance and economy has been languishing for the past two years; several issues have made themselves apparent in the eyes of players in the intervening period:

  • There is too much ISK flowing in. Fortunately, this looks like it's being addressed in regards to the recently enacted anomaly nerfs and the agent mission distribution and payout changes.

  • There are too many minerals coming from the drone regions and wormhole space. This abundance of raw material is enabling an extraordinary number of super capitals to be built every week. The Drone Regions, as they are, should probably be thrown away and rethought. Wormhole space needs to be expanded upon; it's nothing but super safe, easily controlled, farmland that contributes to the game's economic woes.

  • It's too easy to move materials around in bulk and the transit of multiple freighters worth of goods can be performed quickly and safely, even into deep 0.0. Jump bridges should be changed in a way that reduces the flow of materials that they currently permit. The Titan Jump Portal and regular jump drives need to be tweaked with the cyno spool up timer, desperately.

  • The tier two battlecruisers are overpowered. The Hurricane is nasty, but the Drake is exceptionally imbalanced. This has been apparent for some time now, and ignored for far too long.

  • The Dramiel is too powerful and too replaceable. The proliferation of this ship makes it very difficult for young players to try to pirate with frigates or cruisers, though the imbalance of the battlecruiser class makes this problem far worse.

  • Tengus are exceptionally dangerous ships. With the right fit, the Tengu can have the DPS of an autocannon Hurricane (550 to 650 dps), 170,000 EHP (an EHP amount comparable to the Abaddon), the signature radius of an Armor HAC, and still push 700 meters per second. Of all the T3s, the Tengu looks to be the most imbalanced of the bunch.

  • Supercarriers beat everything. This needs to change, as the game's health continues to decay every day the present state of Eve's balance is maintained

These problems have been apparent to players and some developers for some time now, and every now and then we prod and plead for these issues to be addressed, but so far to no avail. When will we see changes in game balance, game design and economics to end the domination of supercapitals put in place? Will the survivability of battlecruisers, especially the Drake and Hurricane, be brought into reasonable levels? These issues, and many others, have already languished for years; this trend should not continue.

These are hard questions, but they need real answers. If you concur with this analysis, will you commit development efforts in forthcoming expansion cycles to make changes, tweaks, and fixes as needed to Eve Online's mechanics to address these problems?

1. will ccp ever allow us to have alliance pos gunners? also perhaps even introduce a special ecm pos mod (1 to match each race's ewar type) that only works on caps & supers and give pos's base resists a 25% buff and double the hp on all towers as there is far too many capitals now compared to when the pos was first introduced and sadly the current pos just doesnt cut it anymore.

2. has ccp ever considered improving the exploration by creating a truly epic exploration arc... for example by finding lots & lots of hidden rare components throughout known space and sleeper space then using invention create a module and find coordinates that lead to a way into Jove Space (First player to sucessfully achieve this gets a special one of a kind ship) followed by an even more epic exploration arc "the search for Earth"

3. will ccp finally buff dreadnaughts to make them useful (in numbers) vs supers again and fix the Hel & naglfar?

4. will ccp ever fix gallente blaster boats...... the blasters themselves are fine but the ships (thorax/deimos + brutix/astarte/eon megathron & hyperion) are too slow & heavy for blasters to be effective (since mwd vs warp scram nerf thorax/deimos's mwd bonus becomes a useless bonus)... A buff to all blaster boat's base speed inline with minmatar autocannon boats would really help gallente pilots without making them overpowered. Gallente drone boats are fine as they are and need no buff or nerf.

5. will ccp ever fix the "broken npc rat spawn with mwd stuck on" bug that has existed as long as new eden has?

6. will ccp ever fix rails.... they really suck at both dps and tracking

Neutral remote repairing is the bane of all highsec empire wars. Do you ever intend to give an aggression timer to a ship that repairs another with an active aggression timer?

EAFs are very underutilized. Despite their nice bonuses, they're very fragile and very niche. Do you have any plans on revisiting these ships soon, and what changes might you make?

How does Zymurgist do that sexy thing with his hair?

The first tier battlecruisers are very underutilized compared to the second tier. Many frigates and cruisers also suffer due to the tier system, to the point where even experienced pilots will ask, "What the heck is a Breacher?" Are there any plans to do away with the "tier" system entirely for these ships, and make every frigate, cruiser, and battlecruiser actually useful?

What is the best locally brewed beer in Iceland?

Eve has a very rich universe with an amazing amount of history, both CCP-generated and player-generated. Has CCP ever considered making promotional material based on what players have accomplished? What about short movies, or a feature-length film?

I haven't seen an isk spammer in the newbie corps in a very, very long time. They used to be a constant annoyance but it has been months since my last encounter. Who should I hug?

Can you provide any status updates on the new forums? The security issues aside, I'm concerned about the use of pixels to specify font sizes. Why does CCP insist on making things impossible to read on large screens, both in game and out? Sad

Although not Eve-related, this is CCP-related: I want my World of Darkness MMO news and I want it now, and I want awesome werewolves too. And a pony. What can you tell me about what's going on back there? When the Garou are introduced, will there plans to later add the Gurahl, Corax, Bastet, and others?

Do employees of CCP frequent the FHC forums?

When are pirate factions going to be involved in faction warfare? It only makes sense that they would be, and I don't see that it would be difficult to implement either. Are there any plans on players being able to directly assist Incursions in some way?

Do you have any questions for me?

have you ever considered making moon mining more like pi to open up empire moons?

are you going to promote Gm Homonoia?

why do you not make it that fighter bombers don't hit sbu/pos mods to give dreads their roles back?

are you ever going to bring out faction warefare for the pirate sides

are you ever going to bring out a faction titan that players can fly

Will Blackops Battleships ever be able to use Covert Ops Cloaks? (Which would be a big improvement Laughing)

Also can Backops battleships have more effective damage output I would rather do more damage with my Widow than jam anyone I come across so any chance of having a Marauder style damage bonus, but with a good rate of fire?

Generally how come cover ops ships have such a terrible damage output (with the exception of the Stealth bomber) and tanking options (cloak isn't really a tank when you are being shot at) so can we have more combat orientated Covert ops ships? (even the T3 ones suck when it comes to combat)

Player owned tournament arenas where pilots can do everything from Training to 1v1 and Fleet PVP, this could work well with Incarna where pilots can bet on fights from the comfort of their local bar. Arenas could be set up at moons where a corp already has a POS maybe using "Holoships" which can only be used in the arena and can simulate anything from an Ibis to a Leviathan as long as the pilot has the skills to use the ship. So to sum up the ISK is real but the ships are not Smile. So CCP could we have something like this?

The other ancient races Terren, Takmahl, Talocan and Yan Jung will we ever get to meet them or their technology in any meaningful way?

Where have the Jovians got to?

It takes nothing more than a quick peek inside any incursion vanguard or assault system to see that the sites are horrendously imbalanced. People will run all the sites that are not override transfer arrays and nation consolidation networks, leave the 2 mentioned and either move on to the next system or stop running sites, depending on the fleet.

Even if fleets CAN run these sites (they require higher end ships and better pilots than the others) the rewards being identical to the other 2 sites it's often not WORTH IT to run them, so you have fleets that are capable of running the sites ignoring them to make better isk doing the other sites and the fleets that can't run them well...they can't run them. The end result tends to be that you'll see (at the vanguard level) 2, maybe even 3 vanguards with nothing but OTAs in them, and nobody running sites.

My question is this:

Is anything going to be done about this obvious imbalance? Is there any chance at either lowering the requirements (an OTA has more EHP to chew through, AND the hardest mechanic to overcome), or increasing the payout to give an incentive for people who CAN do them to TRY?

1a) Is there any chance that there will be a little more variety in missions ? An Agent gives the same missions over and over again... if i got a penny for every time that damsel is in distress again I'd have lots of pennies :)

1b) Missions are pretty static at the moment, is there a chance that missions will have more of a random element to them in the future ? be it in the amount of rats or variety of ship types u can encounter in a certain mission..... or maybe rare spawns and the loot that goes with that.
And maybe changing scenery even if it's the same mission ?

Mission running can get quite boring if u get the same missions over and over again, maybe the above can spice things up a bit ?

2) Missile launchers auto reload when it's engaging an enemy and it runs out of ammo.... why not let them re-engage the same target they where firing at before they ran out of missiles (probably the same goes for other weapon types but i'm not familiar with them.)

Can we see a graph showing the change in the rate of depletion vs duration of extraction program? Or just, you know, confirm the math behind it.

Is replenishment a local or global phenomenon?

Does replenishment rate scale with base abundance?

Does the rate of replenishment for one planet resource affect the rate for other resources? ie are they linked from the same finite pool?

The nVidia PhysX SDK v3 was released this week. Does CCP plan on further utilizing PhysX beyond Incarna cloth simulation? If so, will you ensure it plays nice with AMD based systems? I personally own an nV card but there was a debacle last year in which nV was found to haved used ancient instruction sets to hobble PhysX calcs running on a CPU (read: AMD setups).

This has changed some with v3 supposedly being multithread capable, but market fairness in software development is something important to me. I look forward to the cool things CCP does with PhysX regardless.

Will FOF missiles ever be fixed/changed so they actually target enemies instead of neutral/friendly structures, npc's, players, spacejunk, etc just because they happen to be closer to you?

I had a Rattlesnake loaded up with FOF missiles once, just to see them flying off to hit some neutral npc ship while 10 or so enemy ships were just banging away at me. Next round they were all trying to hit some poor space station with a gazillion hitpoints.

So in short, FOF missiles currently suck and are a complete waste to use. I hope you guys will make them suck less and actually make them viable to use. Wink
