Just logged onto steam and saw this simulator called Universe Sandbox. Was wondering if it was worth buying. Its only 6 but i'm a cheap ass student and don't intend on wasting what I consider as 6 pints of lager.

Linkage

Video looks interesting.

I saw that a day or two ago, I did some snooping and there's a free version that's available here. It doesn't have all the features of the premium version but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

I'll have my brother check it out, he's studying to be a quantum physicist or some ****. Looks like something he'd dig.

One thing I don't get is the simulation of Apophis passing Earth, I thought they didn't know whether it would hit Earth or not? How then can they make a simulation that only gives one possibility?

It was nifty. I like n-body simulators.

Isn't that a bit like riddling Schrodinger's box with bullets?

I suggest you do a bit more studing of what an n-body simulator actually is. Or more sepsifc, the math used to build it.

An asteroids path is not random. Simply because we do not know the trajectory beforehand, does not mean the physics govorning the body would have a random outcome.
