I know there is some decent apps out there, like Eve Universe, however they are pretty basic and require full API's for all the features, which isn't great when it's not an official Eve application. It would be great to see CCP come out with their own application that fuses the features of Eve Gate and the following things into an official app that can be used on smartphones and tablets:

1. Eve gate functions - mails, calendar, etc.
2. Full market interaction including buying and selling and real-time checking.
3. Full contract system capabilities
4. Full map integration
5. Ability to change trains and jump clone to different stations.

Pretty much most of the non-flying things to do in the game. Other MMO's have done this, and I would be more than happy to pay an extra dollar or two on my subscription each month to have this functionality on my Smartphone (of course free would be best!).

I'm using iClone on my iPhone. But here is my +1 for an official CCP App!

Yeah an official app would be sweet - I would even pay a few dollars for it off of the app store (or android, etc). I would be great to have live chat windows to communicate as well in addition to what's listed above.

I really want to be able to check out what is going on while away from my home computer so I will be trying out the Eve Universe app. However, I couldn't agree with the previous statements more...they should come out with an official app which would utilize all of the tools of the official web site.

they're trying to gouge every last penny out of us in-game, so why shouldn't they make an app and charge a few bucks for it? even if it is really only worth 99 cents...

If some random ******* can make an app by himself... whats stopping CCP a company from making an app? Should be easy.

6. Make an Android version.

Most definitely. A few large MMO's now have official apps that integrate into the game in some capacity. It would be great to do some station services from a mobile app when not at the computer - both for the app store and for android.

I have 1000 Aurum I'd happily spend on this app.

The difference is these "randoms" that are making phone apps are just pulling XML data with API keys. Being able to actually influence stuff in game is a whole other bag of snakes.

This would require a LOT more development effort than just reading some XML:

1) Set up a new edge server-cluster, because a new connection method means new security risks.

2) The app itself would have to be incredibly secure, because if it is "official" then that means that CCP has to be able to tell you with all honesty that they've done the best they can to prevent people from getting your login/personal information by way of phone hacking, or otherwise compromising your EVE accounts/character's wallets/assets/etc.

3) Whole new server calls would likely have to be written, as I doubt they are going to make a mobile app that passes the info to the server in exactly the same way as the normal game client.

4) I'm sure this would also open up a lot of extra trade/market bot opportunities.

All that being said, yes it would be cool if they made something like that, assuming the above stuff doesn't get in the way.
