TODATP was born on 2011.02.20 and just passed my gate camp in a Tengu. Is that really possible?

a **** fit and skill tengu trains quick. Its flying and fitting it well that takes soooooo long.

Same with any ship in eve. You could have a char in a golem in about 4 months if you really tried with remaps and implants from day 1. Be a golem with no tank or weapons skills...but could fly it lol.

Caldari Frigate IV
Caldari Cruiser V

Those are the two longest training times needed to "fly" a Tengu. Easily done in less than two months on an alt.

What else is useful, apart from Shield skills and missile spec? I'm wanting to buy a Tengu and I've just finished training all missile skills (not spec's - the base skills) up to IV. I've got 2 weeks left on Tactical Shield Manip to V, then probably a week or so getting the shield compensations all to IV (do you need them to V?). After that I'm thinking I'll need either HM or HAM specialisation up to IV, along with missile support skills to V. Then, Cruiser V, then subsystems spec all to V.

I'll be flying a tengu in about 3 months :p.

Fitting skills, cap skills, navigation skills, rigging skills, other useful skills (Targeting, Long range Targeting, Signature Analysis, etc)...

I don't fly a Tengu, but I expect that PROPERLY flying a T3 ship requires you to have more than 3 months worth of skills.

Caldari Cruiser V is 15 to 20 days. Missile support skills are far more than that, of course.

Merely training Electronics, Engineering, Navigation, Spaceship Command, Missile launcher operation and Shield operation, all level 1 skills, takes the better part of a month, too.

I just don't see it happening in 3 months, unless you have much of that already trained, or unless you just want to sit inside the ship and squeeze a really subpar performance out of your billion ISK ship.

Aye, for me, assume I'm already a maxed out Legion pilot (armor tank, gunnery, cap). In order to actually get into a Tengu after that and for it to be better than the Legion at the same kind-of jobs (C3's, Exploration mostly).

Everything else. Electronics, cap, awu, mechanic, rigs, thermodynamics, boosters, cybernetic, navigation and if you're into missions: social.

You waste your time.

Are you going to use shield amplifiers?

I dunno. I never ran a shield ship before. Kind-of like the idea of not leaking damage into armor though :p.

With TSM at 0 leaking happens at 25%. Your peak recharge is around 33%. So if you're in the position that TSM is actually used, your tank is already broken, and you should be in the process of GTFOing, not contemplating how shield won't be leaking 20% later.

Is peak always around 33?

Yes. Passive shield recharge and cap peak at or arround33%

Prereqs for the Tengu Subsystem skills:
Shield Operation V
Electronics V
Engineering V
Navigation V
Missile Launcher Operation V
Gunnery III

Not that much to train on top of Caldari Cruiser V.

This toon has 3mil SP and is 2 weeks old. Got deleted by hacker. When reborn at the hand of a GM was 0 days old.

So for all we know the OP's Tengu pilot may have 50m SP.

I used to do c3 WH anom in a drake with TSM @ lvl4, and often sat around with shields hovering at 15%. Never lost one, but at that point I was aligning and ready to warp. Still haven't trained lvl5, don't see the point in a active tank Tengu which is what I fly now. Compensation skills still at 3, also no need to train them up unless maybe PvP.

Actually this confused me when I was doing a training plan recently. I have the compensation skills at level 3 but then a quick browse of all shield skills showed one was missing: Shield Compensation. That's the skill that knocks 2% off cap usage for shield boosting. It's a rank 2 skill, so quick to get to 5 for a 10% reduction, which is probably really useful. So people need to make a distinction between the resist compensation skills and the other one when telling shield tank noobs like me not to train them :p.

I think CCP confused the issue there tbh.

I have been playing about 2 months now and I can fly a tengu in 10 days. Waiting on cruiser 5 now. My clone with implants was killed pretty early on, that added a week probably.

EVEMon says it would take a new Caldari character 2.9 million SP, 27 million ISK for Skillbooks, 44 days, 19 hours and 17 seconds, with two remaps and a full set of +5's, to fly a Tengu with all subsystem skills at IV.

With a cerebral accelerator and implants and remaps, my alt became a good tengu pilot in about 3 months (all t2 fit, level V subskills, reasonable missile support skills. It isn't hard if you are planning for it. Of course I couldn't even fly assault frigs, and didn't have anly BS or frig t2 missles, but that wasn't the point in the char. in 2 months you could certainly be in one, with a travel fit.

That being said, if you are a new player and not an alt, I would be pretty impressed that you were so focused. Eve is however made up of alts, so I just assume new players are alts whenever I am not in high sec.
