The more I try to make sense of the xMin and xMax, yMin and yMax, etc. fields in mapSolarSystems, the more I get confused.

There are 4,374 items in mapDenormalize which lie outside their system's xMin value:

SELECT solarSystemName, (B.x + A.x), B.xMin from mapDenormalize A, mapSolarSystems B WHERE A.solarSystemID = B.solarSystemID AND (B.x + A.x) < B.xMin ORDER BY B.xMin - (B.x + A.x) DESC;

Furthermore, there are 97 systems where the 'x' point is acutally LESS than the xMin or GREATER than the xMax:

SELECT * FROM mapSolarSystems WHERE x < xMin OR x > xMax;

There are lots of system where the width of all the items is vastly greater than xMax - xMin. (MAX(x) - MIN(x) < xMax - xMin).

Does anyone have a clear idea of what the xMin and xMax values mean?

Thanks!

Since nobody seems to know (or at least doesn't care to explain it) I'm going to form a bounding box by:

Min _ - radius, Max _ + radius of all the items in that solar system in mapdenormalize, inflated by around 10% for some padding (For each axis).

Let me know if something is wrong with that.

They're just camera hints, afaik.
