That's because all of those stupid customers were whining about the banning rule instead of the 5v5 matches not being televised. Congrats, you got what you wanted...

I don't know why it takes more than a few minutes to get something live-streamed uploaded to youtube, it's an automatable process.

But not live-streaming the qualifiers is more annoying that "stupid".

Having mini (5 man, ten minute) qualifiers is stupid. They should call them "non-qualifiers" since they won't tell us much about the ten man teams. The reason to make them small is to make them short and more tv-able...and they aren't streaming them.

The banning rule was ultra-stupid, it had to go first. I guess CCP is suggesting that the right way to conduct space warfare is to get CCP to ban one of the opposing alliance's key ships at a critical moment. Maybe a Titan?

I've heard about Eve TV for years, I've never watched it. You don't get any hits on evelopedia and it's nowhere on eveonline.com. Allegedly it's for pay, but free for AT? There's that eve-online.TV site that says only "server unavailable"...

I'm just happy there's a tournament, even if the first 2^N matches will be useless. Except I can't be happy about what I can't see.

CCP, here's some free advice: livestream the qualifiers and youtube the finals. That way I can be happy from May 28th until whenever-the-hell, instead of happy from whenever-the-hell-you-get-it-done until June 19th. More happy!

would creating a justin.tv account be so hard? I mean, you get one or two guys over skype to commentate and have a random guy back at CCP moving the camera around. I'd bet you'd get a number of viewers from both EVE and out of EVE if you posted their.

Best part, HD streaming!

I love watching sporting events where the big names can be out before you get a chance to HEAR them in action let alone see them.

I personally can't wait to see the statitics that mean bugger all without context.

Or for a 140 character message about a hero incursus.

Fail.

Indeed. Half the alliances will have been and gone we see or hear our first match.

Tbh it hadn't occured to me until a couple of days ago that CCP had not said anything about audio coverage of the qualifiers.

Thank you Goons for your prompt upload of your first round match.

It is a sad day when Goons care more about the eve comunity than ccp.

Once again a big thanks to Goons and i hope this is an example for the rest of the competing teams. Get those vids up win or lose guys!

It's ok, another week developing standing in stations is a much better reward than properly celebrating the PVP which used to be the core of Eve Online.

Um...Google AdSense with youtube?
Justin.tv/own3d with commercials?

NASL, Day[9], Total Biscuit, TLO, Machinema(SeaNanners to Ken Burton), Red vs Blue, Yogscast, HudskyStarcraft, HDstarcraft and may more can do it for a profit. There is quite litterally nothing standing in your way to broadcast them.

However you don't need any cash to let the community radio stations do commentary and if they then chose to stream things as well even better. Its not like they would even need an altered character or client since with 5v5 anyone with the right skills can lock both sides up.

The fact that some players have streamed a few fights for free should make you ashamed that you are not willing to try and find a solution.

Edit: Out of interest what you you do if the IC guys and girls started streaming the matches they were watching and doing reports on?

Well Soundwave, that seems like a pretty crappy tradeoff for the players/audience. It's nothing personal you know, but for the so-called "Alliance Tournament" I'd like to see THE TOURNAMENT, not your or your colleagues' fake smiles. If you want to make this into a talk show - by all means, do so, but do not sacrifice this rare content (the fights themselves) in order to achieve this!

And one more thing, you've probably heard about something called "Champions League", I know this is not the same...league...but imagine what would happen if you told Manchester United fans "You know what? We'll not show the group stage matches, because they're unimportant (quote - CCP Loxy), but instead give you more quality in-studio commentary and analysis". Of course Eve-O players won't come to your place with baseball bats...

Yeah, a player probably doesn't have restrictions such as "budgets" and "quality". You'll get them for the studio weekends.

People seem to prefer the crappy quality over no coverage at all. I know it's important to make eve look all shiny and cool but skipping half the tournament just won't cut it Rolling Eyes

Better be some really good studio weekends Razz

The person who made these 'budget' and 'quality' restrictions does not seem to understand they'd make up the PR difference in quantity if you'd just had thousands of people relinking and commenting on tens of fights for many hours this evening, and tomorrow, and the same again next week.

I mean, all the other recent & planned **** seems to be cobbled together to appeal to the masses asap with no real depth behind it and that's progressing at full pace...

And before you ignore that as wrong, let me just remind you of the new forums ****up.

Ok, we will, but still, you've screwed the fanbase out of 2/3rds of the content if not more. I know none of these posts will make a difference this year, they never do, once CCP plans something, it's settled, the p(l)ayers are being listened to just in the same way as a government listens to it's tax payers in any democratic country... I just hope that the genius who decided to scrap the qualifiers' coverage gets crucified before AT X (or maybe even before AT IX, since according to a certain CCP employee, it hasn't started yet). And if that person is you Soundwave - sorry - but I still do Sad.

As long as you have 500k up and a decent computer(which you should seeing as you make vidya games) you can stream for free. Budget of zero or near zero is somewhat compelling. Hell I would do it if my box wasn't a candidate for the min-spec requirements lab.

As a side note:
I have a feeling CCP did not expect the pitchforks in this instance.

I am very confused as to why if you are already recording it, as was posted by CCP in another thread, why you can't simply post them to youtube without any commentary or anything.

Seems like it was a poor decision to begin with, and now the decision is being called into question. It's OK to make poor decisions, but learning from them and correcting them if possible is key.

Your players want to see the videos, is it that hard to release them, even without any audio at all? Youtube does not cost anything and quite frankly, the budget/cost concerns are total fabrications.
