Every night I log off EVE with some new faction loot, a killmail, or at least an interesting failure. It is not until the next morning after reading the forums. I feel the game is terrible beyond repair. etc etc. But going back to gameplay I am hppy as a slaver hound.

I would wager EVE could score more points in average player happiness by removing the forums.

This game is great unless hundreds of people are telling me it is not.

Forgive my presumption but I would restate this concluding point:

Eve is a great game.
The people tend to suck.

Simple solution to that. Either realize that these people are stupid but also the most vocal, or just don't read the forums. If the game is great, then the game is great. Most players don't read the forums, and are perfectly happy with the game.

Also, did they get rid of the posting timer?

The eve community is just like any other mmo community. Full of trash.

Actually, forums allow players to vent. EVE would not be on a continual path of improvement without the forums, and without venting, players would just leave.

At least here we feel someone with power to make changes may listen to us.

CCP has heard you, and they are shutting down these forums.

I think space fail book has the new ones.

We are removing sanctums from a large part of 0.0 and making sovereignty in those areas impossible to pay for by just using those areas. Also, we think supercaps are just fine, and Dominion was a great expansion. Enjoy Incarna.

Stop reading the forum ! It would have the posititve side effect of you not posting anymore. If my memory doesn't fail me you have been told to stop posting on many occasions. Actually in almost all of your threads.

There needs to be an ingame disclamer that states:

our forums are full of trolls.

Please remember dont feed the trolls.

Thank you.

I am certain EVE would score even more points if you removed yourself from the forum. It would take less effort from CCP's part and it would benefit EVE, the forum and all of us participating in the forum with valid suggestions and opinions.

@OP

Good thing far less than 20% of players actually frequent the forums on a regular basis.
May I suggest doing the same as the vast majority ?

All gaming forums have a negative effect, but I wouldn't advocate removal due to their usefulness in technical troubleshooting and the dissemination of creativity.

Forums after this years fanfest seem way up on the whine factor over the previous fanfest. But yeah the forums can be pretty negative, and with a few golden, awesome gems thrown in. #tweetfleet is actually more fun and overall positive, but also, you can choose not to follow people who just whine a ***** all the time. Eve is not perfect, but nor is anything in life. Play, drink, shag, sleep, be happy my fellow pod pilot, that is all you need to worry about Razz

remove forum access for 80% of players? lolwut?

i think tbh we remove the low sec (7%) and null sec (11%) access since the high sec make up far more of CCPs income than those.

Statistically I am going to guess that less then 5% of the player base posts on the forums, and maybe (being generous here) 10% reads them.

the 1:10 rule, someone has a good experience they tell 1 person, someone has a bad experience they tell 10.

and if you have fun till you go to the forums and see whines, try giving your ideas more worth and don't be a muppet: reject the whines/whiners don't let their crap influence how you feel about the game.

I think what the OP said is true of basically anything I do ever. I'll be blindly enjoying myself until everyone else tells me how much the thing I'm doing sucks. Then again, you have to wonder why those people would dedicate so much time to something they think is complete ****. Personally, I think I'm doing it right. There are always things to ***** about, I guess, but I'm more content to find the diamonds in the rough than complain about how much it sucks eating all of this charcoal.

Edit: Yes, I make diamonds by eating charcoal.

quoting for truth, think about it.

who would take the time to check the forums?

A.people that want to suggest changes to the game. only about 30% of these people want to change something becuase they already like how eve plays but want it to be more awesome.

B.People that are looking for in game help and tutorials

C.Forum trolls

D.people angry at something in game and need a place to vent

E.Alliance leadership/ people that think they are leadership, and want to talk about how boss they are.

F.people that want to make eve fan projects, and the people that just want to find cool eve fan work.

As you can see only 30-40% of those people are actually doing anything constructive.

Also only 1% of the eve playerbase has ever posted on the forums. Metrics show something like 10% of accounts have looked at the forums *yes 90% of forum goers NEVER post*

becuase think about it, if you don't need help, or your not ****ed off at somethign in the game, why else would you come to the forums in the 1st place?

some like me came to find the help forums and got into the coumminty. but most posters never post for longer than a month or 2 and then stop posting. They get butt hurt in game and then have to make sure everyone knows about it.

If the game is fun and great, and you've got lots of people in game to get eve help from, why you would ever log out?
