Hi, the alliance I am in is currently at war with some mercs...well, I thought it was a good opportunity for GF GF so we had a few engagements etc bla bla bla (just check BC if interested)

Today they tried to gank me in dodixie with about 10+, I was in a brutix (shield gank ftw), managed to pop a wolf and then I deagressed but I was already tackled and my tank was failing, so I requested RR from a friend (neutral), managed to dock in structure (because shield tanking is good with neutral armor RR... yes, I am 100% ******ed).

Was it wrong of me to ask for RR? Obviously not so long as it`s allowed by game mechanics but I mean was it acceptable by the E-HONOURE code?

TL;DR got blobbed (subjective term imo) and asked for neutral RR, was it dishonorable of me?

Sadly, honor and Eve don't go hand in hand. But for the sake of discussion, I would say in your situation, you shouldn't have used it. You getting blobbed by just their own ships is fair game on their side. It's not their fault they have numbers.

But in general, I dislike the use of neutral RR. I've gotten decced by corps/alliances that use neutral RR on us and I don't have as much respect for them. Not that anyone cares. If you're as good as you say you are, you should be intelligent and cunning enough to find a way to win a fight rather than use Neutral RR. Only merc corp I know that is UNIVERSALLY KNOWN to not use RR is Noir.

Hmm, well to clarify, I DID DENY them a killmail because of neutral RR use (and did NOT get a killmail while under neutral RR support) however these merc guys never used neutral RR (I can only speak from my experience).

They did bring around 10 ppl to gank me but I assume that is the usual merc thing.

EDIT: Okay I have seen the light of e-honore, apologies to Obsidian Inc., hopefully we are still cool1bro and mby gf again.

Not that any1 cares, they probably don`t browse the forums tbh :D why am I still typing??

I really don't understand why there's such a controversy over using neutral RR.

"Mwahahaha, I'm going to use a dozen ships to suddenly and overwhelmingly attack this single target while I laugh wickedly! Wait...what's this? A perfectly legitimate game tactic that I failed to anticipate and plan for??? How dare you, you honourless dog, cheating in a fair fight!!!1!"

Gimme a break. The object of the game isn't to be "respected" by the people who are trying to blow you up; it's to keep from blowing up. RR was designed specifically to keep you from blowing up. Use it, for gods' sakes!

BUT...BUT.. M8M8 WUT 2 DO WITHOUT HONORE? WORLD END IMO

That is a fair point, and like I said in the OP (more or less) it is acceptable and fair game so long as it`s ok by the EULA sure, but some people want to OPTIONALLY follow some fictional E-HONORE code. Then again, I am a ******.

No- that is the usual "PvPer who is risk-averse and doesn't want to lose a ship despite their epeening about how great they are at PvP" thing :)

But then again, if they're mercs who decced you then I guess there is wiggle room for neutral RR. Gotta survive one way or another :)

In any case, posting to confirm I approove of DA's (OP's) service. Especially the PP part. Quote: "They do PI, I do PP - planetary protection."

And no, in eve, there is no honourE... the only thing that matters is how hard you crush your opponents and how much they whine about it.

I think in the future you should direct all Neut RR questions to a member of Lonetrek Salvage and Scrap. Apparently, our 9 man corp has 10000 Neut remote rep alts.

That is all.

I'll go out of my way and put a great idea in here.
It probably is said before but anyways...........
How about changing game mechanics, so when someone steals a can or some ****, you dont get flagged to a whole corp, but just to the owner of that can.
This will give more 1 vs 1 fight imo.
About RR, its perfectly legal imo, and if you have it, why not use it?

I probably should have posted this idea somewhere else, but i am to lazy to look where that is, and surely to lazy to even post the idea again. Wink

You survived and it's allowed with current game mechanics, what's wrong with that ?

Really though you should already have a few neutral rr and rsb alts running on yourself for messing around with high sec war decs. If the other side doesn't use them, that's their choice, doesn't mean you have to play by their rules. Laughing

There is no such thing as e-honour.

As long as its not a game exploit, do whatever it takes to win.

I like people who moan, hate and don't use RR.

That way, we always win.

I THANK YOU!!!!!
Very Happy

My favorite part is when they moan about RR when it wasn't even used... it was just sitting there, giving morale support....

Thanks again.

While I realize neutral RR is used a lot in high sec wars (btw Lonetrek, you must b having n1 n1 n1 micro skills 2 b running so many alts so dw about the haters) I just chose not to (well, apparently most of the time Rolling Eyes).

People play this game for fun so do whatever is fun for youWink

With that being said, no the mercs didn`t whine about it, in fact they RARELY communicate (don`t even say gf.. m8 only bad1 ppl don`t say gf gf imo tbh) but they are probably not having fun Laughing

In any case, seeing as how they decced us it is probably ok to use neutral RR but then...where the gf????

Neutral RR is fun, but at times its unnecesarry and can spoil a potentially good fight.

I would point out that the mercs were free to suicide gank the RR ship or ships. This is a skill that should be well honed now with thousands of toothless mining ships practiced on. Maybe they should have brought 15 instead of 10. Razz

Just move to low sec and go -10.

Then there is no such thing as "neutral". Just "targets".

Perfectly legit, if one wants to do that. Just so long as they realize that this week's targets might be more sensible than that.

That's all there is to it. Bring enough ships to pop any RR the target might suddenly come up with. If you can't pop them, you simply lose the fight - that happens, same as your target loses the fight if he can't tank your dozen BS gang.

Part 1: because story. A corp mate told me a wartarget was camping in a high sec station. I was bored so I burned. REported as having a rupture/cane/guardian in sytem. I landed on station in my gank canesupreme. The rupture was there so I lit him up. Of coare he docked. As I said I was bored so I decided to camp him. A couple minutes later the rupture undocks and agresses. I run D-scan guardian incoming. I said what the hell and lit him up again. Started melting to the cane supreme. was in low armor by time the guardian landed with a cane and started repping. So we got a rupture/cane/guardian on a cane, so I figured now ws a good time to overheat. He melted and I was able to burn out in armor. I win!

Part 2: A little later cope mate tell me they are camping again in station. This time 2 canes and a guardian. Well my cane is supreme, but I can't take 2 on 1 plus logi, and most likely they were smart enough to counter-cane fit. So he tell s me he is in a mrym and has a nuetral guardian alt in system, sounds even. So I burn. I land engage and call for him to join. Several things went wrong, I never asked what his problem was. They had a third guy in station in a cane with a pendind app. which was convientily approved as soon as i engaged(recentily heard that this may be an exploit, but who cares). So anyways 3 canes and a guardian on one cane. I was in low structure when my guardian landed and my myrm still wasn't undocked. I told him to stay docked, and died with honor. Good times!
