SMASH THE SUPPLIER. Of all the missions I've done, this one takes the cake by a mile. It is the hardest mission to do solo (additional ships make it easier of course), as the incoming DPS eventually rises to the point where I've got maybe 45 seconds of fight time before I have to warp out (multiple times; yes, it can be blitzed but I'm talking about dealing with the 40 ship blob). What do you consider to be the hardest Level 4 mission to do with a properly fitted ship?

No lvl 4 is even remotely ''hard'' or ''challenging'' at all.

smash the supplier takes like 3-5 mins at most and is rather easy.

I'm not talking about blitzing the mission, I'm talking about staying and killing all the rats that spawn. I'm interested in hearing from folks who kill all the rats in Smash The Supplier for the loot and salvage.

I have to agree that level 4 missions are hard... I can at this point tank most all of them.. The issue is my dps.

I did a calculation on EFT and found out that the difference in dps between what I can do right now and what I would do with all skills at 5 is about 27 points of dps.

So..... its not really worth training all my gunnery skills or ship skills to max because even if I did level 4 missions would STILL take forever!

The price I pay for fitting my domi with tech 2 medium rail guns..

DO YOU KNOW WHY?!?!

because the domie can only fit 3 heavy guns before it say "OH NOES the cap/power cant handle it."

Your rangefu must be lacking. This mission can be done in a Tengu or Cerberus without being hit...evah!. Meanwhile killing everything, if you so desire.

Nope, far from it...
The hardest, (and compared to DED complexes, not hard at all), is probably World's Collide.
Why?
Because upon warp into the 2nd area, you can get room aggro very easily.
Also, you can get scrammed by 2 frigates, and webbed by as many as 6! Unless you tank is impressive, and doesn't rely on speed, you will find yourself gazing at your wreck from a pod in no time.

This Only under the condition mentioned above though I think the total DPS there is over 1000 if yo mess up royally and get full room aggro.

If you fail to clear each spawn rat before the next shows, your troubles start and you can and will become swamped as the timer starts as soon as you hit the room. Warping out and back only makes matter worst as likely another spawn will appear whilst you were travelling

Since i always refuse missions against other factions i never did that one, but in my opinion there are no really hard lvl4missions, unless youmess up the aggro to liven it up a bit they allcan be done in a relative well fitted ship, you don, even need faction modules they only makes thing even easier,if you want some harder missions , try the lvl4 epic arcs, ascending nobles mission in the amarr arc or thefinal mission in both the gallente and caldari arcs , they will give you a sweat if you do them for the first time,,I am still working to get standing for the minmatar one so don't know about that one yet

Meh, the hardest level 4 missions are handed out by agents in the no sec COSMOS constellations. Most people do not even know that these mission exists.

By difficult I am not only talking about the fact that they are located in no sec space, but also that these mission are made for fleets and are hugely unbalanced due to recieving no attention from devs either.

Yes, this is the only mission I've ever lost my ship in (Abaddon). I made the mistake of taking the agents advice (destroy the star gate as quickly as possible), rather than other players advice (run away from the stargate as soon as you warp in).

I usually just kill the tower. But once I tried to kill'em all. It took a while but I got it eventually.

I used a standard arty mael and just kited them while killing them. At one point they decide to go back to control tower. You just follow them back in that case.

Bottomline is: Just blitz it. You can do other missions during that time.

EA 5/5 is the only mission I have lost a ship to as well.
Definitely the hardest if you do it wrong. But as said above, none of them are actually hard. Just require proper strategy and planning.

On the other hand, I remember farming EA 5/5 for around 50 mil a pop and it only took 30-40 min to clear, loot and salvage. Probably faster now with tengu and noctis.

Edit: EA 5/5 and WC are ones most likely to make somebody lose a ship imo.

If you have a properly fitted marauder, none of the 4's are hard. Things only get tough if you have a badly fitted BS and/or trigger the wrong things.

proper skills + a couple key faction fittings = all missions are simple.
without the aforementioned pimpness and some lvl 4's are tough as hell.

I don't find a lot of L4's difficult, but there are quite a few where even the slightest mis-step in pulling aggro can completely screw you up. Eve-survival mission guides are a god send in this regard.

(Personally, I'm still having a bit of trouble running The Blockade as I seem to get damped to hell even with a sensor booster. But that's my own lack of experience/fit weakness.)

Hardest Level 4's I've found are in the epic arcs
In the gallente arc you have Assistance where you get 12 Mercenary battleships plus support dropped right on top of you, luckily the wingmen only use webs, no scrams. Later in the same arc you get Showtime which has 8 elite minmatar battleships that move very fast and do lots of damage, followed by 6 elite Syndicate battleships which do the same thing but with different damage types.


The Amarr arc 'Right To Rule' features a couple of hard missions - Ascending Nobles has 5 elite BS's that do about 1200dps at 50km range while their support cruisers neut your cap and tracking disrupt. And as a bonus, after you retrieve the mission objective if you lurk around it'll spawn 8 each of elite BS/Cruisers/Frigates

For all these extreme DPS situations I use a Rattlesnake with TII purger rigs and fancy deadspace hardeners, depending on how worried I am I can get it to tank upwards of 3000dps with an alt providing command ship boosts.

You are entirely correct on the level of difficulty of the epic arc mission, but I feel I must correct you there; Mercenary Wingman use both web and warp scramblers. It is just by chance if they use them or not (the chance is more than 1% imo.).

There are no hard lvl4 missions.
There are only missions with small amount of rats to kill and larger amount.

Once a mission runner realises that it is not about tanking the rats but killing them so fast you do not have to tank they all get stupid easy. Really - invest in hi dps, know the mission youre going to do, where are the spawns, work a tactic so that rats can't get to close but you can kill them easily.

For missions where rats do come close (for example upon entering the dungeon) use a hac or better fast t3 ship instead of hi damage bs/marauder.

Blitzing...meh...real men exhaust all the BC/BS spawns, and only after no new ships spawn...kill the mission trigger.

I do this mission for the tags, first shoot up the frigates, then the frigate shipyard to stop any more frigates from spawning. Then mince everything up from ~60km range and 550+m/s orbit speed around one of the structures.
It takes about 25 minutes (or so it seems) for the full spawn to happen and for the stuff to be killed. If choosing to do this mission on the kill all route, it's required that you also loot/salvage every ship, otherwise you just shoot yourself in the isk/h foot.

They're like going to the toilet.

Make sure u have bog roll, poo, wipe bum, make sure u dont touch your anus... , flush... wash yer hands(optional)
Make sure u have the right ammo/hardeners, don't shoot the triggers 1st thing, make sure u recover item (contextual).

So similar, maybe that's why missioners are 10 a penny ugh

Faction fits are not necessary, T2 fitting makes level 4s easy enough.
Really it all comes down to skills and your choice of ship. If you're in a missile boat or drone boat, level 4s are easy enough from the outset. For gunboats it is more of a slog until you get skills trained. Even then it isn't so much a case of difficulty as time taken.

Fit a sniper ship with a AB and head out to about 100k. Keep heading away and kill frigs first and cruisers second. Kill BS's last. Never let BS's under 60k range. When done come back in noctis and clean up.
