Hello my fellow tuxers...I have a question for the linux community!

I currently run Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on an Alienware M11X RC1 (the first generation M11X). I run EVE Online flawlessly except for the fact that I have had to emulate a V desktop in WINE since Incursion, or i get random crashes (not really an issue i guess, but the fact that I have to run WINE with a virtual desktop adds to my question).

I have gotten to the point in my EVE career that it is time to create a second toon so I am curious to know if anyone with a later version of any of the commercial Distros could give me a down and dirty as to how to run two clients.

Unless i have completely lost my mind, the fact that i have to emulate a desktop in WINE causes me to not be able to run more than one application in WINE...for example: I have GTK EVEMon, but i grabbed the windows version to run in my virtualbox when I am bored and to test in wine. it WORKS in wine, but when you emulate a desktop within WINE and you run more than one application, you are unable to switch between the two programs if one (like eve) is running in fullscreen...unless i am missing something.

I want to run two clients, bottom line...and i dont know how lol i dont want to use that one thing that i have hiding, chained to the wall, held at gunpoint...that resides on that one long lost partition of my HD...if you know what i mean... lol

again, I am running

Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit
4 gb ram

WINE 1.2.2
NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 335M (proprietary drivers)

let me know if i need to include any further info!

thanks in advance!

this thread has MUTIPLE solutions to what i am trying to do, and i made it all work!
