Ha, I was going to pay money for the HD stream, but a PLEX? Even better!

350m ISK is peanuts.

Now, if I like the direction you are taking the game with using PLEX for micro-transactions? Maybe not so much, but apparently you will do it anyway. Maybe send Smedley over at SOE a mail about his experiences with alienating the current player base in the vain attempt of attracting a new one.

Are you kidding ?

Watch it in SD for free.

Or, alternatively, make 350m (easily) and virtual-buy a PLEX.

Fanfest presentations have been posted to YouTube in HD for the past 3 years. Do you really expect that to change?

You miss the point.
Buying Plex on eveomline.com cost 17.50 € per PLEX (2 for 35 €).
Basic subtraction: Quafe Tee-shirt cost 2.50 € . That is rather expensive for one item.

While I am grateful the SD stream is free, and I do understand that people paying for the HD steam allows the SD stream to be free...

However, seeing the very first "YOUR VERY OWN EXCLUSIVE VANITY ITEM FOR PLEX" makes me disgusted. Its the very first thing you see when you open the dev blog section, instead of any of the other really awesome fanfest pictures they could have put up.

We all knew it was coming, but tiny bit of me hoped they wouldn't do it Sad

Its only the beginning now, I dread to see what bull**** Incarna will require you to pay PLEXes for.

ITT: people complaining that they don't have 350m isk.

Just be glad for the forseeable future we have the option of paying with plex for stuff like this.

Oh, and also the Blizzcon live stream costs 40$ - and there is no free option.

Shouldn't we be saving our 350 million ISK so we can buy some Incarna content?

What is wrong with you whiners? ~$17.50 for 18+ hours of streamed, DVD quality video is right on par with the same viewing time in rentals, and significantly cheaper than Fanfest itself. I'd spring for it if I weren't going to be unavailable (due to my full time job) for a little over 12 hours Friday. I'll probably catch some of the Saturday SD though.

I will definitively pay for the HD-stream, i think support for this kind of thing is important.

BUT...you better make sure its up and running. Once you charge for something, you have to deliver.

OMG what whineres, waaaaahhhhhh the HD stream of 18+ hours is costly, waaahhhhhh, dear god now had they made it NON-ISK then that might be an issue but seriously u can pay with it with f*cking ingame currancy seems pretty fare to me.

Now what i'd like to know and what will make me pay for it right now if they can verify those that buy in will get download or streamable after-live playback in HD, Last year it was a pain after work to get information/videos of what was talked about at the main show and at the table conferences, if those will be downloadable in HD hell i'll fork out 400m right now

I hope it will not be a habit to take money for the best. HD + t-shirt as bonus? - ok, thats great and pleasant. Anything else like this on a regular basis? - **Evil or Very Mad**

A free HD stream would be nice, otherwise I'll just catch up with it on Youtube as it really isn't worth buying, even for ISK.

Will the video's be available to download separately?

I'm going to fan fest, but fully expect to miss something, as I assume stuff will be going on concurrently.

So, when back in my hotel room(which better have wifi[shakes fist]) will I be able to watch the video's of the events I couldn't get to due to scheduling conflicts?

Or at the very least, view on youtube(or somewhere) when I get back to Canada?

Unless I missed it somewhere, it doesn't sound like the video will be cached or downloadable after the fest. I'd pay for the HD but there is no way I can watch it while it is live... I have to work during most of it. I'd want to watch it at my leisure for a few days afterwards. In order for me to buy into this, I'd need to see some kind of declaration from Level 3 or CCP that the videos will be available afterwards at the fanfest website or somesuch. (say... in 1 hour increments or sorted by presentation theme)

Watching it live is just not workable.

The T-shirt is cute, but not worth it.

Where will we find the free low-fi feed?

Will we have to rely on one of your customers to reboardcast for you?

I'm a little uncomfortable with the shirt being included "as a gift." I had no problem paying for a higher quality stream, I wish I could go to fanfest and I guess HD is as close as I can get this year.

But in game items for real life cash. Ehh, plex is bad enough, but I can accept it. Micro-transaction games suck. Its a bad path to start down, and I would hate to leave Eve because they want to squeeze us all for a little more.

As per the dev blog, the SD feed will be available on the Fanfest website.

Incredible idea.
All the bots in EVE are making so much money, you definitely have to do something to reduce the amount of ISK floating through the system.

I applaud you for this decisiveness and hope you will see this as a precedence to find many more ways to take ISK out of the game in exchange for RL services that weren't capable of affecting the in-game economy before.
