The last few weeks I've been doing a bit of ratting in a 9 belt -0.77 sec system. Prior to the last patch this system would regularly spawn 1.5, 1.7 and 1.8M isk BS rats. Since the last patch I've seen a few strange things.

Firstly no BS worth more than 1.2M isk have spawned once in the last two days. In fact most of the spawns are now battlecruiser spawns.

Rats regularly warp off, now they used to do this before and it's nice touch, adds a bit of immersion, but they used to warp to another belt and you could follow them and kill them. But now most of the time they instead warp to an off grid safe. I've had this happen with multiple spawns in succession to the extent that the system has no rats in any belts at all, and since you can't locate the rats to kill them the system stays empty for ages.

I've also had rats warp in on me at a safe spot 10au from the nearest belt.

Is anyone else noticing odd rat behaviour since the last patch?

Probably an attempt at breaking ratting bots.

Nerf to sov null ratting bots? I don't rat, but noticed the 23/7 corp income seems to have dropped a bit.

SkyNet has taken control of the rat AI. Quick, someone call Christian Bale to have him set up an account so we can fight for humanities survival.

For relevance, I haven't noticed this happening to me, but I am not ratting in null sec. I've just been hanging out in my usual low sec area hitting the rats occasionally when I see some.

Thats a messed up "fix" is this is true, it hurts those of us who don't bot the most. Since we don't sit in a system 24/7 ratting at the end the bots will still make a lot and we will make very little. Rolling Eyes

The Rats have formed a union and they are collective bargaining for higher rewards.

When I mine in high sec I use to see an occasional spawn of 4 rats (normal is 1 to 3) with one different, special, from the others. That special one would drop better loot, usually faction ammo, and every now and then an implant (the best Ive gotten was a snake omega). Also if you kill the special rat's minions first, the special one would warp off.

But since the patch this type of spawn has not occurred.

Rats have overthrown their Western imperialist backed sovereigns and are free peoples now.

How many rats do you kill a day?

If I were a pirate NPC I'd be avoiding you too.

Simple. Rat in an onyx, it can tank and dps like a drake.

This "special" spawn is called a faction spawn, they are rare in nullsec and EXTREMELY rare in highsec, you just saw a few of them by luck due to good old probability.

Hopefully this is a first step to transition to rats to needing PVP fits to kill. Fit your point and see if that helps.

They will warp off even if you have them pointed.

Don't know if they will warp if infi-pt'd or bubbled though.. though I am pretty sure they still will. NPCs don't care much for our player rules.

Rats cheat and know where your cloaked ship is. I have tested this out on several occasions by cloaking near a belt and after a while or sometimes hours a magical rat spawn will appear within a few km of you and just happen to wander over in your general direction. Then you get decloaked and popped when they get within 2000m. Now if ccp would also give all nullsec rats long points then that would certainly help with the fight against botting as you can't warp to your safe and cloak if you just warped to the belt and all the rats have a point on you just as local spikes. YARRRR!!

I've noticed rats warping off a lot more since the Incursion patches came out.

It's annoying, and even more annoying that they cannot be stopped and are invincible once they start warping, unlike players.

Fix lag. Err, belt rats.

I would be interested to know what you mean by extremely rare, i don't think they are any more rare than in 0.0. I once had 4 faction spawns in under an hour in hi sec (one dropped a lg pirate implant which was nice) while mucking about with a noob alt. The difference is there far less people grinding belts in hi sec (as why grind frigs when you can do missions....).

I think it's a luck thing. I got a true sansha spawn on my very first day in Eve and had no idea it was something special. The only way I found out is when I asked corp members why I couldn't right-click sell the true sansha power diagnostic on the market. Since then I've never seen another one in hi-sec.

I also have noticed this is happening a lot more. I seem to get spawns that warp off, sometimes 2-3 belts in a row. When I leave warp, they have often already initiated warp (gotta love how they can be there, bumping a roid for 20sec or so, but still be immune). Also, I have seen a lot more of these spawns that decide it would be fun to burn 1600m/sec for the BSs, and 2200m/sec for the BC/cruisers towards a celestial... Really is annoying. =/

Smart afk cloakers are in a safe spot and constantly moving in a direction far from anything, this removes chances of :woops:

uhhh, what part of afk cloaking involves being at your keyboard to move safes?

Anyway, they only do it to grids where people are uncloaked
