Japan got imploded by a verging g-bang of Fruity Pebbles is what happened?

They shoulda jus' let the Sansha, with their laser cannons, take the city instead of blowing everything up to 'save' it.

A 8.9 earthquake 80 miles NE of the Japanese mainland.

A 13 foot Tsunami struck the coast of Japan devastating it. Tsunami warnings have been issued as far out as Hawaii, and mentioning that it could strike the western coast of the United States though it is to early to determine that.

From pictures it looks like the greatest damage to Japan since the atomic bombs were dropped to end WWII on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Check out footage on BBC News website.

10 meter waves smashing over villages near the coast, horrible views of people in cars desperately trying to drive away from the wave front only to be swallowed up by the water.

What I saw was a long line of cars traveling on a road perpendicular to a wave front. As that part of the wave approached the road, the cars were not appearing from the building that was obscuring the road from the camera. I imagine they stopped their cars, and started running away from the wave or tried to get into the buildings. The camera (on a plane or helicopter) then panned to a road that was full of cars that was actually goign away from the wave front and not perpendicular.

They shortened the looped aerial footage after about 7am UK time on the TV to avoid showing the vehicles being swamped.

On the bbc news website you can see a car trying to drive across a field to escape at the bottom of the screen at 2.28. It appears again at 2.53 as does a lorry which you can see moving. The wall of water overtakes them.

Tsunami warnings now throughout the entire Pacific Basin.

We won't know how bad it is for hours. God be with everyone. It'll hit the west coast of the United States in about 5 hours.
