This thread is making a strong case for the removal of jump bridges since he can't even tell the difference between jump bridges and stargates.

And yes, I'm assuming stuff and drawing conclusions without :stuff:.

I support the removal of stargates.
With warp drive speeds it would only take a day or two to get from system to system. If it's good enough for Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise it's good enough for me.

On a serious note, it would make sense to make it so that you enter system through a stargate and appear in random spot in that system.
Kinda like we have stargate(system1)-stargate(system2), it should be stargate(system1)-random spot(system2).

You should try reading the part where they explain why they want to remove them and all the other things they'd like to see.

Whoa calm down people, I was just curiouse. Didn't expect to strike a nerv with anyone...God forum premodonnas are damned annoying.

I've seen people request them to be removed but havn't seen/experianced any good reasons why.

Yes troll I know the difference, and I'm not talking about JB's.

That's true for everything in the game. In fact, it's true of the game itself.

It's Prima Donna, Italian for "first lady," usually the female star of an opera.

But really people who want to get rid of stargates are people who suck at running gatecamps. That's it. Carebears who suck at EVE but want to compete against people who don't suck at EVE.

They are trolls. They have substituted the word stargate for jump bridge, or are implying that jump bridge removal is as absurd as stargate removal.

Wait, are you implying that people who camp gates don't suck at EvE? I'll even take your implication further, by asking this. People who camp gates are, what, good at EvE or PVP. That's a pretty special point of view.

That one guy that posts a lot in the EvE GD always mentions adding in personal jump drives to every ship. I imagine this kind of relates to what the OP is talking about.

I don't think we need to get rid of Stargates, but having Personal Jump Drives that let us jump to close by systems without getting caught in gatecamps and stuff would be pretty nice.

Also, what the other poster said, Stargate 1 to Random spot in Stargate 2's system would also be nice and make more sense.

Or people like space games because space is vast and empty and gates, and specifically gate camps, completely take away from that experience. If I want choke point fights ill play Call of Duty.

*snip*

Try to follow my train of thought here please.

TL;DR
- reduce traveltimes in empire (if you want to go save) to make it feel big again
- encourage trade at more places
- remove spawn-point camping from game, support hunting
- blur high/low sec border
- make small gang pvp viable (reduce chance of hotdrops)
- put caps back to where they belong - on the battelfield for sov
- give pvp'ers in alliances a patrol duty and the tools for success
- enable miners/industrialists to be actively protected in nullsec
- make the lone hunter/pirate a viable playstyle again
- make nap-trains hard to maintain
- create breeding grounds for small alliances
- make eve feel like huge ****ing empty space instead 'rooms with doors'

PS:
And yeah, that guy who tries to find an angle on some posts in GD now and then to promote the idea would be me. Nice to meet you all.
Though, I'm not the only one who makes stuff up like this (I didn't start the threads in F&I) and so far discussions are nice. As I said in the 2nd or so post in my signature.. point out flaws.. we're all ears.

I run gatecamps fine.. it's just that I intend to see the bigger picture and that spawn-point camping is a lame gamemechanic.

See the arguments in the post in my signature. There are developments going on that will cause a change for this - if CCP still intends to have more people online at the same time.

What do you need stargates for anyway?
As a 'borderline control' of your space?
As a means for killmails?
As a pvp-forcing point?
As a lore reason?
