Id support this idea as long as they were destructible. So 4 years down the line there isnt 3 stations in every w space system. I mean look at providence, there is like 40 stations, it was some kind of personal masochist dream of aralis to make sov in provi such a pain the ass to take that people would burn out half way thru. Sadly it didnt work but I mean seriously... Imagine if all of 0.0 ends up that way. |

I think we have been asking for this for a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long time. but ccp keeps fobbing us off because thay would have to do some work to make it happen. |

So many things you could do with this:
- Could make it a massive amount of isk to be build. - Able to be completely destroyed and conquered, or neither. - CONCORD could ask for weekly licence fee, or not.
Some problems: - Eve is always been about PVP, hard to imagine CCP not making it conquerable. - Think of the potential big fights it might generate in high sec, lag would ruin high sec for sure. - CCP has been trying to get more people into nullsec, this would support the opposite.

Why would you want to build an outpost in high sec. systems without stations?
I ask because one route I often travel, 16 jumps of which 10 have no station, is contrarily to what one might think (no stations so no one there), very, very busy.
Seems to me that there is no real need for them, at least not on that route.

While the idea of player run outposts in Hisec is intriguing, I have to say that I like the fact there are systems without stations. Why? Purely from a mercenary point of view, less people mine in these systems as they can't be bothered to make those one or two jumps to a system with a station, which means that for those of us who CAN be bothered, there's a bit more ISK to be had! They are. But you did not prove it. What you proved is that they are overcrowded.
Caldari systems are the most populated? yes. The most civilised? NO. |

What if outpost destruction was tied to Dust? I can see it now... A long-term Dust campaign against an outpost to gradually weaken it, slowly making it more vulnerable to ship attack, shortening rfc timers, making the process of conquering a station take a little bit longer beginning to end, but less of that time being spent in the mindless bash.
If outposts were introduced to highsec and they were fully destructible (along with player assets inside) then there should be some specific restrictions on personal hangars. Maybe people could always dock for free but would have to rent personal hangars. But then we're just getting into the realm of just fixing POSes, which is probably a better idea to begin with. |

Back in 2003 a game called Jumpgate allowed players to build player own stations that could have their own markets and armories and ship storage and well it was a good idea not long after they opened this up something like 75% (a guess) of the population all had their own stations littering up everywhere.
The only way it worked was player stations cost $$ on a regular basis for there upkeep and if the bills were not payed over time the station would become unusable and disappear.
I think it would be better to make and allow more types of structures at EVE POSes then allowing high sec outposts. Maybe if the upkeep costs of the high sec outposts were in the range of billions per month and if not paid they would just fall apart and be open to be salvaged like wrecks. |

So many of the existing stations serve no purpose at all - enormous structures that are empty and unused by pod pilots. Why do we need any more? |

Pretty much this. Stations in Empire could be slashed in half or by four just fine, so long as production/research slots and agents remain balanced. I never understood all the unused clutter that makes the game feel unused. |
