On my way to the forum, I noticed that No script has blocked a piece of java script from the doubleclick.net domain from running on the main eve home page.

Why is a scummy advertiser code linked to the eve front page ? Its not as if CCP show adds to support the website.

For those who are interested it appears just above the incursion banner.

According to the source code its something to do with:
Start of DoubleClick Floodlight Tag

web statistics.

I am sure you can also find google tracking stuff.

I am aware of the use of them in advertising, there are a few other web tracking codes that attempt to run on the eve site. The item they call should only generate a 1pixal by 1pixel image. not a bar across the screen if you disable scripting.

If you look at doublclick's web page, it states that even if the browser does not support JavaScript the user will not see any difference in the page layout. the item they call should only generate a 1pixal by 1pixel image that is not viable to the user as its in an iframe.

The standard doubleclick tracking for web statistics is also present on the home page as well as on the forums but that has the following tag in the code. That is not on the forums is the one highlighted in my first post.

<!-- DoubleClick DART Natural Search, Creation Date: 07-20-2010 -->

So CCP are running two different bits of tracking code from the say ad network. One of them does not fit the ad networks own description for their tracking system, hence the question.

Also, why as it only just appeared I am sure it was not there yesterday. So either it was introduced today or something has gone wrong.

a hosts file that doesn't route doubleclick.net to 127.0.0.1 is an incorrectly written hosts file.
