So im a fairly new player, about 6 months old and broke 9m sp not long ago, i have some spaship command for every race but feel that i made the mistake of training caldari and galante bs to 4 for a rattlesnake, I guess what my question is: is there any point when its to late to decide to be all bc and under sized vessels rather than bs witch i find usless nowadays, and would training for all t2 med wepons all t2 frigs, cruisers and BC's for all 4 races before bothering with the big and bulky battleships again be a good idea?

atm i fly a drake in a c2 and capital ships in no way interest me.

So I'm also a fairly new player, about 11 months old and broke 22m sp not long ago, I can tell you that's it's very worthwhile to invest into ships up to battlecruisers and let the BS wait till a bit later.

There's a lot of fun to be had with T1-T2-T3 cruisers and T1/T2 battlecruisers, there's no real need to invest a lot into battleships. If you train for the lot of them it may keep your skillqueue busy for a few years!

Training racial cruiser V is one of the best things you can do .. :p

Something to keep in mind is that battleships take alot of support skills to really shine.

When you talk about pvp, battleships dont have a large role nowadays, but when you talk about pve, very few ships come close to BSes in terms of efficiency, and usually at a few times their cost.

Still, in the beginning focusing on cruiser and battlecruiser hulls can be nice, though i wouldnt suggest commandships really.

Cross training to other racial cruisers/BCs is a great idea. IMO the T2/T3 cruisers are some of the best, most fun ships in the game.

I would start by getting battlescruisers 5, as that will give you an easy cross to your next race; train up the T2 weapon and cruiser 3, and you're good to go with a new ship while you train cruiser 5.

Then go Recon 5

Then train another race/T2 mediums

Then go HAC 5

Then train up another race

Then go Logistics 5

Then train up your last race.

You will end up with a couple of dozen superb ship choices, with all ship skills at 5.
