To me, that's the most surprising aspect of this whole thread. The topic seems to be very taboo among the community, which is quite scary, and seems a minority of people think they have the right to abuse and act like children.

It is not really taboo - the lowsec problem is one that has been discussed far and wide, and is still being so (do an eve-search, and you are sure to come up with tons of threads dealing with what is wrong with lowsec, and suggested fixes).

And yes, there certainly is a lot of spouting and plain immaturity on these forums, unfortunately. You should just ignore the worst of the pack, they really are not worth a proper reply.

I don't see why my experience would be "wrong", it's still my experience. I wanted to share it, together with a pressing issue that I'm not alone to feel, with the rest of the community. But the apalling behaviour from most people here leads me to believe the community is worse here than in the game!

It became wrong, unfortunately, since most people believed you were trying to push the entire lowsec population into a single folder and spit on them collectively based on your own very brief and geographically isolated experience. This is always a bad thing to do, its the same as if I was to go spit on all of Iceland and all Icelanders, because I have been to a single village, got a bad overcharged lunch, got funny looks on the street, and a hotel receptionist who was rude and didnt speak intelligible english.

Your experience as it is is of course still valid, but just try not to extrapolate next time - all of lowsec, and all lowsec dwellers, are not the same. Come up and visit the NRDS community around Misaba sometime, Im sure you will find us a friendly bunch (we dont shoot neutrals, and we dont smacktalk. Well some of us...meh).

I did use a smiley, even though it might have not been the correct one at the time.

Granted, but still, be careful with that kind of stuff, its very easy to get it wrong unfortunately.

Assorted snips for space...

It's not that anything is taboo from what I've seen, nor is it that no one cares about your experiences. More likely it's how you presented the post... "I recently flew around in lowsec with a buddy of mine to see if we could hunt down some easy victims. Yes, we were bored. Turns out everyone flew away, scared to engage into combat with us, even though our ships were nothing to write home to mummy about. "

My conclusion is, after spending several hours in lowsec, that people in general have grown soft and only flex their muscles in lowsec because "that's how it is". I feel sorry for you chickens.

Despicable scum. "

Your post goes beyond relating your experience... it's laden with insults and also appears to show a basic lack of understanding. As mentioned, many people in lowsec aren't equipped for PvP, so yes, they're going to run away. Chicken, or smart? Tie that with you looking for easy victims and complaining that easy victims ran away... well, it's not going to get a very favorable response as you've seen.

I would wager that had you rephrased your post into more of an inquiry as to why it was so difficult to find the satisfactory PvP you were looking (sans any insults) for you'd have generated a much more interesting discussion.

This. I do not have anything against you, and I do not believe you are trolling, I simply believe that if you had simply brought it out differently, you would have gotten a much more fruitful discussion about it, instead of the mess over the last 5 pages.

Sorry but you haven't looked hard enough, sir. There is no denying this topic has become infected in two separate threads where the other one raises issues on why the community (me included of course) is using the word "carebear" as a demeaning expression on certain players.

Important issues that people choose to look away from and apply their "caveman" behaviour, grunting and trolling instead of using a common sense-approach.

Point taken. I have taken the sensible opinions on board and will soon write a post about my first week and a half living in lowsec. All the highs and lows in the system. It's guaranteed to be an interesting, thought-provoking, read.

I'm sure I will. I might even pop around with my main if I'm in the right mood. I reckon I haven't been to Misaba before so it might be a good first visit.

Just make sure sure you check your KOS status in the area before though, to avoid any incidents (I am sending you instructions via an in-game mail)

So from your own description: Apparently there are no 'easy victims' in low sec, or you just plain suck at hunting people.

Or suck at scrambling

Problem is that whenever I feel things are starting to move, someone comes in and ruins it with a troll comment or skews the topic into something nonessential.

It's as if the topic is so taboo and controversial people don't know how to respond properly to it. So they apply the "caveman behaviour", hoping that nobody will notice, and berate the OP (me in this situation) and make up things that aren't there.

In general it's apparent people have a narrow view of what is so-called trolling and apply it to anything they don't agree with. Again, this coincides with the "caveman behaviour".
Trolling is simply trying to elicit a negative emotional reaction from someone. Basically trying to annoy or anger someone. And the problem is that you're responding to the people that are trolling you. Ignore them and focus on those that are trying to offer you some constructive advice/criticism.

WRT your concerns with LowSec, simply look more places at different times. But don't be surprised if most of the folks in LowSec are smart enough not to allow themselves to be free targets for you. You're gonna have to work for it.

Some folks have said post with your main. With the attitude I've seen in this thread, if you announce who your main is and where you'll be, I guarantee you'll have a fight on your hands. Might not be the fight you're looking for, but with some tactics, you could probably turn the fight on your terms.

I love it when the gankbears justify themselves by saying "anything goes in war", then "it's a game, y r u mad?"

But I love it all the more when they lose hours in lowsec trying to find targets, who have long deserted this area of space due to aforementioned gankbears attitude!

That is basically why I got into the thread and the following post of mine did not warrant the response I received, hence why I went into troll mode with my second response.

I'm not a "sir", but nice try. In any case, how you could get the impression of me mentioning they didn't know what they were doing is a mystery. Being a carebear doesn't mean that at all. Stop trying to read in things that haven't been said, for the purpose of trolling.

Did you stick around/follow them to see if they got some pvp ships,

Yes we did. If you bothered reading the thread before pressing the reply button like a re-tard pressing its tube for food, you would realise that at one point a guy was trying to lure us into a trap where his buddies were waiting.

Your attitude is **** poor OP and I do not have a problem saying it. Not that my opinion matters one iota, I just want to voice it.

Just an update: Me and the core members of my little corporation have now resided in the lowsec for two full earth days.

We're not entirely ready to join in on any serious pvp action, though I doubt there is any in the parts we are at currently. I got a nice in-game mail I intend to explore, furthermore it will probably take another week to establish ourselves fully. The logistics have turned out to be more logistical than anticipated.

Don't bother trolling in my thread, I report those posts. Razz

Stay tuned.

That's right. Neither one of us had the capacity to scramble anyone.

Our ships were, as mentioned before, ill-fitted. The issue probably lies more in the fact that nobody saw us as easy targets in our puny ships.

Lol, easy victims would run away, doh! I don't suppose you were prepared to take on any of the 'not so easy non-victims'?
