Eh. I can't get into the hype machine anymore until late beta or after release and the first few patches. Been burned too many times on super hyped games that turned out to be total barkers even after getting a few patches under their belt.

I am looking forward to this as its going to use the frostbite 2 engine. Battlefield Bad Company 2 used frostbite 1.5. Though that trailer shows nothing of the new engine.

I was going to rip it a new one.

Then i got suckered in by the rearrangement of the BF theme. God that sounds awesome.

Wasn't excited for it until I heard it was on Frostbite. BF2 really put me off the Battlefield series of games, I mean it was fun, but I really hated the engine.

But I came back with BC2 and had a hell of a lot of fun, so I'm hoping it'll be similar but with BF 1942/BF2 gameplay. I miss 64 players.

This is why I still play mw1. Nothing like a small map with 50+ players all fragging at once. Twisted Evil

2142 for me. Titan mode was like an enhanced planetside, I loved it when both titans came along side eachother and boarding actionsTwisted Evil

BF2 and 2142 are running the original 1942 engine. BC2 is Frostbite 1.5 ;p

The original BF 1942 (And the DC mod) was just fun to play and because it wasn't really complex the engine didn't really cause problems for me.

Thing with BF2 though, as fun as it was to play, it was the little things that kinda just annoyed me. If you sniped a lot you'd noticed the view distance wasn't amazing, and far away objects seemed glitchy graphically, plus the physics were kinda off too.

I also blame EA & BF2 for starting DLC, download these awesome weapons that are better than regular for only $5, download these awesome vehicles for only $5... download these awesome new maps... for only $5 Neutral

Since then I avoided the Battlefield series but eventually bought BC2 for cheap... and it was awesome, a really nice engine that feels just right, fun gameplay and I even bought the Vietnam DLC because it was actually a good expansion to gameplay, a mini expansion at $10. Just a shame it's not 64 mayhem.

So yeah, looking forward to BF3. A solid engine and I really hope solid gameplay, plus 64 players, **** yeah Very Happy

I got BC2 on steam for cheap couple months ago. Single player was decent, not stellar, but multiplayer sucked ass. No prone, enormous maps with everyone just sitting up in their sniper spots killing you from half way across the map with no killcams to be able to pinpoint anyone. It was basically, spawn, get sniped, spawn, get sniped, spawn, get run over by a tank or blasted to hell, spawn, get sniped. Pretty much terrible multiplayer experience imo.

The lack of prone was a bit jarring at first, but considering the intense foliage you can hide in I'm kinda thankful for it in a way, plus I guess I've played a lot of prone absent games so it wasn't such an issue for me.

Strange you had no killcams, I think every server I played on had the killcam enabled. Ironically I hate killcams Laughing

As for dying a lot it did happen to me quite a bit at first, but moving with team mates and keeping behind cover is a must and the large maps help to break up the tunneling effect of two teams. The maps in the Vietnam DLC are a lot more smaller and routed, you get some pretty instense battles between the teams on those (I prefer the Vietnam ones a lot more).

Each to their own though, I have to admit, I am sniping sinner. Shooting people with a no scoped, no crosshair sniper rifle was the first thing I picked up when I played online pc games for the first time back in the UT/MoH:AA/CoD/BF1942 era and I damn well have been sniping since Razz

I must have just picked the worst server to try and play on then. I just assumed the multiplayer had no killcam when I was running through.

Maybe give it another go, Black Ops was so horribly done (coding wise) I'm looking for something else. I LOVE Black Ops, but the fact that I can only play like 3 matches without having to actually reboot to get MW:2 quality performance killed it for me, and every "performance" patch they do just makes it worse.

Another game with mindless combat glorifying war? I am sure this brings a lot of new original content and mechanics to the fps genre that we have not already seen in the countless clones like it. Rolling Eyes

Also the trailer sucks, looks like they ripped something form an only war movie and stuck battlefield all over it.

I am sooooooo jonesing for some BF right now. And it's going to be a true PC game, none of that limited scrub 32 player bull****. 64 players, jets, big ass maps, prone (as long as there isn't dolphin diving I am cool with it), and DX10/11. About time we get another BF, so tired of the ADD/console-fied Call of Duty Games that litters the shelves every 6 months like some ****ty hollywood sequel Rolling Eyes

MW1 tbh for large scale shooter goodness. Best of class even if the maps are totally in the muscle memory area by this time.

Gameplay trailer.

Still a bit reserved because of how BC2 PC turned out, but still... It looks like a return to form.

If this is anything like BFBC2 its going to be crap, tiny boring maps. Nice graphics at least but I prefer better gameplay like Bf2, cant beat a L96A1 hitting someone on the head from 800 meters away

Oh and im redownloading BF2 on steam now, put me in the mood for it :| :| :| :|

Can't have a FPS thread in here without these typical posts. Rolling Eyes

I think he's expecting a shooter where you don't actually shoot. Wouldn't that be original ?!?

EDIT: I think I got trolled here, foolish me...
