Hi

ive been playing eve for all of 6 month or so now, i have good sheild tank and good armor tank skills, but not perfect, having some "controvetial" advice at the begining of my eve life i have "some" training in all 4 races, i can use 2 race of BS and all 4 race of BC but being so new most my sp is in both forms of tanking and almost no sp into offensive systems, having run my first WH yesterday and barly scratched the sleepers in my drake, but i was the only 1 to sit there and tank the whole spawns. Now im looking at remapping (last remap out of the 2 noob 1s) to will/percep for gunnery and im wondering since i can use all 4 races of medium ships, would it be wurth my time to train into all the races offensive systems just to have that versitility or would focussing on 1 weapon system untel i get older be a better option?

thank you very much for you responces and sorry for writting you a book.. Shocked

Id say get one weapon system trained for a start, itīll take some while. Meanwhile try to decide if you want to be the guy who flies many ship decent, or the guy that flies few ships very good.

Pick a ship or race that you really like to fly. And try to think of the future as much as possible, what you want a year from now. Make that ship as good as it can be. And I mean skills at 5, supports at 5. Most of them will transfer to the other races some day anyway. Try and decide if you like BC and smaller, or BS and bigger, because the weapon systems are quite different.

If your not sure of the future yet, train skills that will apply to all races. Such as Drones, Navigation, Battlecruiser, etc.

Im sort of in the same boat. The first six months I trained primarily Industry skills to get into a Hulk for mining. That was my main focus. Now that I KNOW what is needed and have more of a focus on what I want...I'm back tracking and training up all of my core skills to level 5. I decided to train Minmatar because the majority of the ships I liked were Minmatar. I can now fly a Jag/Wolf and a hound with T2 weapons and modules. I can fly a Hurricane but cannot YET fit the T2 weapons...I will train for those as well of course but not before all my other support skills needed for ALL ships are trained to level 5. That is my focus.

For example:

Engineering and all the skills in that category that I need to fly Minmatar and help to increase CPU and Shield usage.
I will do the same under all the other categories as well:

Navigation
Mechanic
Electronics

That way if I decide later that I want to train a different race, all thats left is the particular ship and the weapons.
All of my other support skills will be trained.

EDIT: One thing I have been doing a lot of is opening my Skill sheet and comparing it with all available skills in the Item DataBase. I study the skills over and over to help have a better understanding of what they do and what I need to train.

One example is Controlled Bursts (a Gunnery skill). This skill gives a 5% reduction of Weapon Turret CPU use per level. EVERY RACE can benefit from having this skill trained to level 5. It will give you the CPU room to place other modules on your ship.

I would definitely not train all 4 weapon systems simultanously, you'll end as jack of all trades but master of none, being sub-par in every case. I'd start with picking one weapon type (and corresponding ship types) and train it up until you can use large T2s.

Sindjin:

Controlled Burst: 5% reduction in capacitor use per level

Weapon Upgrades: 5% reduction in CPU requirement

Controlled bursts doesn't do this. It is not needed for minmatar pilots.
I think you are thinking of Weapons upgrades (WU) and Advanced weapons upgrades(AWU).

Yes you are both correct. I stand corrected. However, even reducing the Cap need means more cap would be available for running other modules during engagement.

Weapons Upgrades was really what I was referring too. Thanks for the clarity!

yep, just that minmatar weapons don't use cap is all.
