Ok I think this was proposed somewhere else. But I'm not sure so I'm taking a stab at this. What if Mining were like a puzzle minigame? And that different asteroids had different types of puzzles? This would be alot more entertaingin than just staring at rocks for hours on end. I would imagine the puzzles could be everything from "connect 4" to "tetris". The main idea is that you would have something interesting to do when mining. Of course theres always the problem of getting hooked and forgetting the pirate ships that are closing in on you. But thats the risk we take in favor of entertainment! YARRRR!! Now if you'll excuse me I have to finish stacking my ore columns in my bay for the added chain isk bonuses!

So what you really wont is a second monitor screen that will give you something to stare at while you mine.
