I would like to propose an arena for all those PVP player's in EVE. As I've been looking around I've run across a few post's Combat Simulatorand How long will PvPers continue to play EVE Online? Which I found interesting. CCP t0rfifrans made the comment on Combat Simulator. (12th one down)

"--You have stumbled across a feature that was planned for Apocrypha but was ultimately cut due to time and technical constraints. These in fact were "virtual" combat arenas where you could engage in one-on-one consensual ranked PVP combat. The code had to be shelved as the server code doesn't allow for anything virtual within EVE. For instance, every ship that gets destroyed, is destroyed in "reality". Of course it's a little more complex than that, but that's what it boils down to.

So like a patient rejecting a liver, the EVE software architecture rejected the feature and changing the software architecture to make it work was well beyond the scope of Apocrypha. Thus it was cut. May well find its way into the game some day later, but will need a lot of work if we feel it is something we want to do.--"

My idea is this: We have a unique PVP jump clone which you purchase from the cloners only it is located in an uncharted and unknown system somewhere out in space "The Arena". To jump from or too the clone has a cool down period of one hour. The system could like wormhole space have unique qualities perhaps making podding imposable in the arena. The ships that are available require LP which you earn through Missions and through competitions same goes for equipment. As I understand it this would work with the current system and could be a lot of fun.

All comments and suggestions for furthering this idea are welcome.

I like the idea. It sounds workable but I wonder how one would bring their ships to this W-space or if ships would be available to buy there.

I have thought that a player corp could set up an arena by using a large POS strictly designed for the purpose. Combatants would be identified by the POS as friendlies and allowed inside the shield to fight.

Spectators would remain outside to watch. The shield would prevent others from interfering in the contest and the winner and loser would be able to warp in or out without having to worry about being assaulted.

This could even work in high sec. Seems to me someone might just be able to make some decent ISK off of this idea

Well, one way to do it is to have special arena ships/equipment and zones (systems) for them. These would be free/cheap and only usable in those zones. You could set up a duel and both people would be sent into the same deadspace pocket... also no scanners so you couldn't jump in on things if it's meant to be one on one.

Basically you have this on Singularity. The differance is that you have a seperate login and I don't think one can farm killmails there.

A duel mail would be a really cool thing to aquire.

You Would have ships available to purchase there using LP that you earn through missions for the Arena as well as Winning LP through Wins in the Tournaments.

Another reason wy KM must die.

Another reason wy high sec must become less safer for grieffers and "pvp'rs" farming killmails by exploiting game mechanincs while they would probably wet their pantys in low/null at eatch neutrals apearing in local.

I'm not so keen on the premise .. that we're making a place for pvp.. pvp is and should be everywhere in eve.

However, with walking in station it might be kind of fun to have arcade machines that you could go head to head with other players on in bars and places.

It could get crazy though.. In the future you might buy a computer in game to play an in game space mmo. lol

If agression mechanics and pvp flagging was severly changed so killmails farmig wouldn't be that easy in high sec, where do you think pvp would happen?

More people in low/null = more pvp oportunities

High sec wardec: should not be possible to install or wardec players corp in high sec, you want to punch other guys face?
Get some balls and get in the ring, face them in low sec.
Rase NPC taxes from 11% up to 20%, go ahead rase to 25%.

Divide high sec belts/ore by 3 or + thus making low/null mining intersting and opening pvp options, organised corps/alliances, escort mercs contracts, more destroyed ships.

Where do you think all of those guys pretending they like pvp would go? low/null where the pvp oportunities exist, if they don't they could always fill the forum with tears "we can't safely farm killmails anymore" has some already do with "we don't like pve wy do you force us to do it"

Has long has the "safety" argument keeps paws farming killmails so easy with 0 risk and 0 cost they have no reason to go/stay in low sec.
You guys don't take the problem in the right way, makes years now nothing that has ben donne has given any positive change has you can read at every thread where even Dev's post their opinion, time to think about other options.

The arena idea could be interesting if KM die, if they don't arenas will just look has many empty systems in low/null.

I've had this idea a while ago but while it could be really great and super fun, we really can't allow tearless PvP in EvE.

Really, why do you think people do PvP? To defend their assets? Conquer new territories? Loot precious booty? Fight for the glory of their nation? No, it's to harvest tears. To ruin someone's day.

An arena implies sporting events. Sports implies rules, sportsmanship, honor, fun... oh no no, we can't have that! Not only it could be fun, but it would require a place were the participants would be protected from non-consensual PvP while they consensually shoot each others. And that's a great sin.

If Warhammer 40k invented grimdark, EvE perfected it and renamed it grimdarker.

Now go and enjoy your non-fun! Very Happy

The best pvp tears I ever read are these ones.

Wy ruin 1 guys day when you can ruin dozen of peoples week/months of work? -just because it's safer with 0risk and 0cost.

Yes I'm having great fun Cool
