The Homo Sapiens Sapiens of today is and aggressive and invasive species, and getting even more so if history is any indication.

Now fast forward several thousand years .. There may have been other species around when we came through the Eve gate, but chances are they were either exterminated or decided to pack up and leave on their own accord.

Either way. No one but us remain.

If one were to use history as an example I would have to say it likely that we would not be able to co-exist with another similar species to ourselves.

At least twice in history Homo sapiens shared this world with another species. In Europe it was Neanderthal and in Asia, Homo erectus. Both of those species began declining shortly after our arrival. This has also been the pattern of extinction of our forebears. As each new species evolved the one before it was pushed aside.

I would have to disagree about one thing though. If anything humanity is becoming more docile on a historical level. The level of bloodthirsty violence and its cruelty was far worse on the average then it is today. Maiming and torturing the defeated was common place and the enslaving and deportation of entire populations happened with regularity.

If anything the meek are inheriting the Earth. Itís just taking a bloody long time.

Nora, YOU, are irrelevant, how bout that? Good god! For being a bunch of geeks playing a SCIFI game, I've never come across such an unimaginative group. You're all so biased. I simply started this thread to see what other peoples' ideas were, and didn't imagine that , just like in real life, all you sheeple instinctively dislike and abhor the very not of there even POSSIBLY being aliens. Predictably, you all giggle, and make silly jokes like "yeah, let's have space monsters, ha ha ha!" The truth is Earth is being visiting by UFO's and aliens, and yes there is a huge coverup! There's been so much documented proof that anybody that doesn't want to believe it has there head in the sand.

Someone asked what would other species bring to Eve, because they're not really necessary? I don't know - What does a galaxy of nothing but humans have to bring to the game? Dull!

If you're refferring to the sillicate electronic implant on my brain installed by an extraordinarly advanced race of chronic masturbating alien used to convince me or their non-existance so they can stare at me while I sleep, then yes, I technically have sand in my head.

Also... you made my day.

You sir, got yourself a perfect score. I am in awe. Seriously. Laughing

Indeed, you made my day.

Oh whatever, let's feed the troll some more...

I'm not here to show how imaginative I am, but to defend a legitimate science fiction setting. But knowing where you're coming from, I understand contacts with alien civilizations isn't a matter of "speculation" to you. Laughing

What a galaxy of nothing but humans have to bring to the game? There's four distinct factions for players to choose, each divided in four sub-subcultures. There's also plenty of minor nations and factions, powerful criminal organizations, emerging artificial lifeforms, mysterious civilizations, alive and extinct. There's already a lot of content here and it's not even exploited since the focus of the game is on warfare, politics and trade.

If Bioware developed an adventure/role playing game using EvE's lore, we would have the same depth and diversity as Mass Effect, if not more, and that without any "alien" species.

You know NOTHING about humans if you think they're boring.

Hey I have an idea...lets create a planet in the very center of the EVE univers in a .1 sytem. And on this planet, AND ONLY ON THIS PLANET, have the ability to createa very special drug...a 'spice' some would call it...and this 'spice' could increase your charachter atributes 100% every time you took it. The catch being that you eventualy 'alienate' yourself by 'morphing' into another being. First starting out with blue eyes, then eventually a grotesque blob that can seeminly fold space by thinking and shooting light out of your @$$.

It would be a contested planet, full of sand mounds that constantly shift with the whind and big...'sand slugs'. Everyone would want to controll it, for if you control the 'spice' you control the universe. Due to its sandy nature, and the fact the sand drifts with the whind, we could call it "Drift"

epic man, love it.

and more importantly, I can waste everyones time here refrencing a movie that most of you haven't even seen!!!

Do the Rogue Drones count as intelligent, learning, adapting, life? I mean, yeah, they're NPC's, but still, they have a limited AI (according to lore), they propagate (in some sort of production line kind of way), and they do have goals (again, according to lore; and their goals are completely alien to us mere Humans).

So, problem fixed. Go kill the "aliens". Quit whining about how they aren't the kind of aliens you wanted them to be.

- Troll do create threads. Are you new on the internets?

- Yes, I want the last word on a subject I don't care. Makes lots of sense.

- Instead you got reasons why there's not aliens in EvE and why it will stay that way.

- White, white, asian, generic lizard people, generic insectoid species, generic little green men. So you're really just superficial and have no interest in culture, psychology and stuff that would really make aliens interesting?

- So I guess you can provide us a link where the devs talk about introducing alien races in EvE?

I know this is really difficult for many to understand, but ill try anyway.

Jovians: humans that have genetically modified themselves. They're another race of humans. Get it?
Sleepers: descendants of an ancient race of humans. Still human.
Drones: created by humans.
Hounds: alien dogs

There are no Sentient or sapient, if you prefer, alien species in eve.

You went from being somewhat reasonable (OP) to being so childish its hilarious.
You don't even want to consider that someone might have a different opinion than yourself.

As for whoever mentioned rogue drones: interesting, I never thought of them that way, but they almost do meet the current biological requirements for life... except afaik they don't grow. But we can ignore that. Sleepers too I guess. Though I haven't read up on them much.

Theres also two other NPC "races" other than Jove, with really funny names, but I can't remember what they are called. Could they be counted as aliens, considering their separation from the EvE human society (like the Jovians, being very different).

Ok, I can see your point with Jovians... while different from humans it is only because of their insane desire for "perfection" no matter how they reach it.
Sleepers: depending on how far removed, they may have developed into a completely different species, and as such may not be able to be considered human anymore.
Drones: they have shown an intelligence beyond many humans, I think that qualifies them for sapience (or sentience for you).

I understand that many that play Eve believe it should just be about humans vs. humans, but sorry, the chances of us being the only sentient species in our galaxy is mathematically extremely doubtful.

I'm not saying Eve should become Star Trek, I think that would be corny. But it's dumb to pretend humans are the only sentient life. And I never even said it should become a game about humans vs. aliens, why would that have to happen?

I am a huge fan of logic and you have jumped out of logic and gone straight to what you wish.
(I am not including or creationism in this analysis, nothing that would have a Deity or an alien intervene and help or start the process)The chance of life being created is astronomically low letís be simple and give a ridiculously high number like 1 in a centillion planets (true chance is much much lower). Of that chance of life creating a sentient being is also so low that it would be infinitesimal. Letís use the same high number of 1 in a centillion now that we have established that the chance of sentient life being created is almost 0. Now letís try and guess what is the chance that 2 such races of sentient beings actually are able to find one another in an infinite universe?

Just because every other scifi has it doesnít mean eve requires it, and it doesnít even stretch the bounds of logic when it says that no other has been found. I say leave Eve as it is, it has tons of stuff going for it and to add aliens would be messing with a good thing.

On a side note, Eve already has alien type creatures that you can speculate on Ė the Fedo, is it alien or was it created by human with bioengineering? There are others see if you can find them and learn about them if you desire alien things.
