Not sure if this was suggested, I've not seen it in common suggestions thread. I think it's very essential to see how many guns did said damage (at least for me in in my log).

My idea is to change current:

Your group of guns hits for 2000 (not sure what is the exact msg)

to:

Your group of 4 guns hits for 2000

Hm, you want to say, that you really do not care whether the damage you did was from 4 or 3 guns? Or when comparing dmg with friend? Or checking logs saved after some time? That would mean that damage notification is not really important to you at all. So why are you responding when you actually do not care?

All of EVE is about numbers, I want my numbers to show up! :)

To make you think about what you're asking, dumbass. I do the same thing with everyone. It's nice that YOU want it. You need to convince US we want it, so we'll support you asking the devs to give it to you.

@DEVs: After you implement my minor but vital change, please make sure you keep one extra client without the change for this guy here :P.

If not him, ME wants to know how many weapons did the said damage. Or keep it per gun, I do not care, but the form in which it is now, is not far from lying.

It would be a nice to have, especialy for the ones that get hit by grouped weapons.

Some people use multiple groups to spread the dps out over time doing lower dmg hits, but scoring hits faster. To make sure the target is constantly under pressure. And of course you got a lot that just group up the weapons to gain a big alpha. Both tactics are valid and have their cons and pros.

The attacker however knows what tactic he uses so for him this information can seem to be useless at the time in the combat log. However only good thing is for analysing combat logs afterwards.

The victim however doesn't know with how many guns you hit him. The only thing he can get by inspecting the attackers ship and combat log is how many guns does he got fitted (doesn't work with launchers). What is the time between hits, and has to make estimated guesses. Which can be very inaccurate depending on the skills trained by the attacker.

But to say it is essential, is perhaps a bit over the top. It is a nice to have info especialy for the victim where it could perhaps be counted as essential.

Sorry little troll, I feel no need to convince you. I am just telling devs, that without mentioning the amount of guns doing that damage, the damage notification is next to useless (beside the fact that i took or did damage).

Ydyp, you've got good reasoning. By 'essential' I didn't mean essential for game working, I meant precisely for analysis, and returning to old logs after some time. I didn't even took the victim into account, this is really important for me to see next to damage, to me, this is simply leftover, which was supposed to be implemented when they introduced gun grouping.

On the other note: I have experiences with several other game forums, but I can honestly state here, that EVE community seems the most trolling of all ever seen by my eyes. Sure, I didn't checked WoW forums, but I'd not be surprised by comparison of trolling statistics. Please refrain from posting, if you have nothing constructive to say. Saying this is bad or good might be considered nice by you, but I assure you: it's not. Hawk!

It could be useful eye candy. Whether or not this is a feature that needs precedence over many others is relative. So far, only you believe it is essential.

print "Your group of guns did %group1_damage to %target"

to:

print "Your group of %group1_guns_amount guns did %group1_damage to %target"

needs some precedence? It's matter of minutes (if the guy do not know where to search for that line in code) to have that fixed. Yes 'fixed', because this is no new 'feature' it's how it is supposed to be from the beginning.

Given that Eve is +/- 8 years old, and it's not that way, I would have to say that it's not how it was supposed to be in the beginning.

Unless you have some source information to back up that claim besides your own opinion?
