Hi people

Can a Dell Ispiron Mini running the latest unbuntu distro run EVE?
I have tried it in the past to no avail.
not sure if it's me, with my lack of skill points in WINE, or the Netbook, with it's lack of everything.

Anyone else got theres on the dell netbooks running?

You're problem will be the Intel IGP drivers I suspect, unfortunately they aren't (or weren't when I experimented) 1:1 feature complete with their Windows counterparts (or OS X for that matter).

So you might find that some of the essential functions (like Shader Model 2) are mysteriously unavailable to you despite the chip having those capabilities (just).

Of course if this is a much newer unit with an Nvidia unit inside of it, you might just need to install the proprietary drivers instead of the open source ones usually put in by default.

An interesting workaraound would be VirtualGL. It allows you to play games via VNC (remote desktop) so the performance is as it is on your desktop. It works great over LAN but suffers over the internet. Being forced to play at home rather ruins the portability of the netbook, but still a very cool bit of technology.

It runs very well on my asus 1015pn (nvidia ION2) I'm using ubuntu. It can run missions on low settings.

I'm actually going to install Eve on a Samsung NC10 with Debian on it. Will post results in this thread when done.
