EVE Online Incursion 1.1.0 has been successfully deployed

I wouldn't be so affirmative.

When going for the new char creator, progress bar freezes, cpu load (on one of the cores only) rockets through the roof, available ram gets exhausted (no swap gets harmed, though). Won't say I'm too surprised: on sisi, I had to downgrade to worse rendering parameters to get something like 5fps.

New thing is, when I don't go for the char creator, progress bar in "entering game as [character]" dialog freezes midway, one cpu node gets saturated, so does memory, and this pretty message appears in my shell:

*** glibc detected *** Z:\home\gourgou\div\eve\bin\ExeFile.exe: malloc(): memory corruption: 0xf1aefce0 ***

Regarding memory usage :
Mem:   2058080k total,  2042596k used,    15484k free,    63280k buffers
Swap: 2000056k total, 54992k used, 1945064k free, 1478620k cached

Edit: ok, forget about the second part, I had forgotten to rename the res/audio/Jukebox thing. Games starts now.

Question however remains: does anyone have the game not eating all of their memory? How much place does it take then?

This isn't an accurate picture of actual memory usage, top's concept of "used" doesn't mean that applications are using that memory. Linux caches very aggressively, if the system has been running for awhile basically all your memory will be displayed as "used" in top. If an application were running out of memory you would see much more splash into the swap. You could also just look at my much memory the eve process was using to get a real idea.

For instance my system at the moment:

Mem: 12322908k total, 12248948k used, 73960k free, 196232k buffers
Swap: 36099064k total, 75080k used, 36023984k free, 8684268k cached

However currently active applications are only using about 2GB and 700MB of that is Xorg since it seems to like to cache every pix-map in creation and I haven't logged out in ~14days. Rest of the memory is the usual VLC playing some movie, like 12 chrome tabs, etc.

My bad, yes, I had completely overlooked the "cached" figure. Now if you allow, I'll go facepalm discretly in an dark corner ;)

More telling for swapping would be vmstat's swapin (si) and swapout (so) columns. They will be non-zero if you're swapping.
