I know many have said the exact same thing, but I do feel I have to voice my disapproval of the portraiture system in the new character creator. I believe I speak for many, if not all of us when I say being able to save all four portraits and hot-swap them at our leisure would be immensely appreciated, but I do understand that is a lot more work.

But adding text is not. There should have been a warning in the actual character generator, preferably right next to the four portraits, that the system will only save one.

My God, the mewling, make it stop.

CCP sucks at fixing bugs and at refraining from peeing in the sandbox. But this patch was pretty damn good (and by that I mean it broke nothing horribly, which is what I had come to expect from most patches.) CCP, will there be a SP reimbursement for those of us who set a really long and semi-useless skill to train because we expected you to break stuff and for the roll-out to be significantly longer than advertised (as in previous patches with this much going on)?

Haven't heard this much mewling since the 72 SP/hr whine (which affected me on 4/5 accounts (and all 5 once the 'free' remap kicked in) fwiw.) Would be funny if CCP gave each account the choice between a 72 SP/hr bonus to their SP acquisition speed or unlimited cosmetic changes to their avatar. I welcome my handsome and semi-realistic new skin. I don't care what clothes he wears. I don't care what tats he has. He looks human and distinctive (unlike before when everybody looked like a cartoony same-face, different get-up version of 9 or so different faces, not that I cared, since I play Internet Spaceships.) That's ok by me.

Nice character creator. You can look like Gallente, Minmater, Amarrian, or Calderian. You get to chose from 2 colors for hair, skin, and eyes and move every facial feature a full 1/2 inch. You get 5 hair cuts, and 3 beards to choose from. But wait, there's more! You get one, yes you read that right, one style of sunglasses from 1975.

In soviet russia, the character creates YOU!

After 2 days of trying to get the client to work i must say i'm quite pleased with this expansion.
The patch corrupted and the repair tool failed. With no help from CCP i got the resolution from other players on the forum. That was kinda annoying.

The character creator is really nice. High-tech stuff but heavily lacking in options. We need more stuff. Clothes, accessories, hairstyles etc. etc. For now its fairly basic but the whole thing works well for me and is really top notch.

The PI update is great. especially for my high sec PI. Thanks for this improvement ccp.

The rest? Haven't had time to check. :)

Is it really intended that the "combat" shortcuts only apply in "overview focus" and not in "space focus"? That's obviously silly, only time they should be disabled is in a text entry field/ chat focus as those keys are not used for anything while clicking in space (flying manually)

Furthermore, is it really intended that said combat shortcuts do *not* work on the object in the "selected target" box if nothing is clicked and instead only looks on "overview focus" and a selected target in the overview list? Seems like a really poor design decision if so. I'm assuming these are bugs/ design overlooks and thus this bug report.

(Also, switching overview tabs to a tab that doesn't show the "selected target" renders these shortcuts nonfunctional even if the object is still in the box with the mouse buttons - and their tooltips are showing said keyboard shortcuts so at least fix the tooltips)

Also, there is no bindable keyboard shortcut for "reset camera" rendering the default binding of "look at" to the ALT key rather useless.

PI Change: It's great. Much simpler to use and much more flexible.

Character Creator: It in all honesty sucks. It's a struggle to run it for many people; and the fact that the toon won't keep still is just annoying. There's not much info about how to actually use it either; so I can see it putting off new players. The ability to undo a change, or submit a toon, see what it looks like in game, then tweak it during the 'grace period' would be sensible; but I'm guessing it's not able to do it which is why that's a definite no-no.

Incursions: Well they haven't happened yet.

New Forums?

Contract changes: All realy good and will stop so many scammers, and the threads of tears that are caused by them.

Overview and local doesnt show neutrals with a grey bracket and/or bar. I always have the neutrals set to grey but now they appear black like a stargate or a celestial while I have selected it to appear grey. (much easier to spot on your overview)

I like the new char creator, but, as said before, I was a little disappointed with the lack of hair/clothing/accessories available. I want my twin "bunny" look back! Hopefully they will have a "barber" in Incarna where we can choose lots more hair styles. Everything looks the same at the moment - across all races as well.

A few other comments, it would be nice if there was a "reset expression" on the portrait screen as several times I ended up looking constipated and needed to return to the default and couldn't. Maybe even have a expression gallery like poses, lights and backgrounds...

On the whole, I like the new system and there is a lot of room for expansion but please don't make it PLEX or RM for clothes/accessories/new hair - minimal ISK only.

Thanks for a great expansion! (whole of incursion)

First - the character creation pros:
New avatars looks and moves amazing - scars, frackles, mimics, the look of skin and fabrics, sculpting of body, etc. I haven't seen better "human" models in any game (not only MMO). Pure awsomness! but..

character creation cons:
Every time I try to make my new minnie avatar to look like my old one, I really liked, I feel like "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black". I feel that every tattoos, hairstyles and clothes will be avaliable, but in incarna, where you will have to go to tattoist and pay for it, for hairdresser and pay for it, to store and buy another clothes. So few options now, ensures that anyone not happy with it's avatar will go and pay. I see someone is getting greedy.

The PI pros:
I dont see any. Maybe one - longer extracting times, but...

PI cons:
Before patch I had ice planets producing P3 items themselvs - setup like 4x3 extractors, 7 factories, spaceport and using only advanced command center - perfect.
Now due to whole extractor command unit and heads' needs of powergrid I can't extract 4 different resources and produce P3 items on one planet. There is one proverb: "better is enemy of good" (in meaning good enough).

well, i'm very new to eve, so i've just a opinion of a newbie.

- thanks to mods/support: cpp, you've done a good job - and a perfect support too. thanks to all mods and admins in-game and out-game.

- thanks to creator: as my previous speakers said, the creator is one of the best most of us ever saw. but it lacks of sims-stuff: hair cuts, clothing, etc. such things are important as it is important and funny to pimp my ship.

- suggestion #1, living stations: as you announce, we need more living chars and movemenet on surfaces or stations too. there was only one reason i've never try eve out, for years (i'm little older): i do not like a game where i am always bound to a damn vehicle.

- suggestion #2, re-creation: as you announce, it could be possible and importan to re-create my icon/pic everytime i want. i'm wondering why it is such a problem; it has tech history reasons, thats for sure.

- suggestion #3, char interactions: today your char interactions are limited to text and a picture. you do not need sound to make it better. just look at this, randomized moves/actions, and its in full screen (movie effect): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-0vIxS6ThE

Jeez. This isn't an update. I'd rather call it a downdate. What is the idea of making 4 photo's if you can't use them if you decide to change the current choice of portrait. Further more. The Gallente had/has the Jin Mei. With asian look. Newsflash. Not anymore. But the Jin Mei is still there. The asian look is now moved to Minmatar. What was the idea with that ???
I so agree with others about the crappy clothes selection. CCP. Dont you guys have any imagination what so ever ?
And what happened to the optoin of capture a portrait ?
Just to mention a few of the bad changes you made.

Or what if i want to be an white race now im stuck being asian etc etc etc.
more options CCP not less!!!

If you want to be a black person in the Civire fold, then go create a Brutor character, go to Caldari space and work for some Civire corp!

It's just like my character. She's Gallentean, but I roleplay her as someone who's disgruntled with Gallente democratorship and therefore has joined the Amarrians instead, because she considers them a lesser evil. I didn't create it as an Amarr character and whine about not being able to look Gallente.

Have you seen any 'black'-appearance Civire? No? That's presumably because no part of their populace has ever developed that look, nor have they had any large influxes of Brutors or others. Keeping this in mind how would you, a child of two Civire parents, be born with dark skin, large lips, a protruding forehead, thick black hair that will not grow straight and so on?

It's simply nigh-impossible for a child to be born with that many genetic mutations at once.

Nationality and ancestry are two different things if you want to roleplay a son of a Brutor family that's lived in Civire society for many generations, then you're free to do exactly this. Nothing in the game stops you. But do not assume that Civire should be able to be born with the 'black' look just because an American, for instance, can (considering that "American" implies nothing about ancestry).

Technically the term "Civire" as a nationality could be applied to Brutor-looking guys that live in Civire nation, but then why are you in the Civire character creation screen? Go to the Brutor character creation instead. Or do you suggest for CCP to add every bloodline of EVE under every bloodline's character creation header just so that people can pick and choose nationality as well as appearance? Seems a bit redundant when you can already essentially pick your nationality by picking a corp to work for.

Limited haircuts (most of them very bad), clothing...no comment, yeah we all have the same height, all races look similar,
no tattoos and decos on Minmatar (rly who decided that?), missing jewelry and lots of stuff that could make us a bit more ''interesting''?(Amarr females)
face adjustments not really working good and the avatar does not stop moving while doing it...

well, yeah i guess we all agree that the Character Creator is a big disappointment, since CCP did promise a lot.

I did played with it for a while even before on the testserver, but its lousy to see what CCP actually brought out to us...

First not every char has the same options, some look Asian and you can#t change it some are black and you can't change it.
some have sunglasses and some don't what if i am playing a minmatar since years like it and now i get to only choose a male guy looking like some weed smoking hobbo? (no offense to those folks, but thats not my choice)

best way to fix this is to mix all the options uop and give everyone the same option.
i know your choice of race gives you a certain set of skills, but why not turn that off? at least during grace period. to let everyone choose what they want.

All races have one Oriental bloodline - the Jin-Mei still look very Oriental to me and they're more attractive than they used to be - at least the females (haven't tried a male Jin-Mei yet).

You're given 4 snapshots so you can save something you think is nice, and keep fiddling and save a few poses, then choose the best one. There's nothing worse than having a nice pose, then trying something else out and finding you can't seem to get that old pose back, and you really want it.

Can one of the devs comment on why the "Global Report" is listed as a "Global Report" under the incursions tab and not a "Universal Report". I'm having a hard time fathoming that. I posted a bug but was told it was a "game feature" and not a bug. Is that what all "bugs" are? Unintended game features? I should not be able to sort by jumps or constellations if this is truly a "global report". A global report denotes a globe to report on.

Perhaps just nit-picking here but really am having a hard time understanding that one.

Well, now that the novelty is wearing little by little, we can start being some more objective about what did we felt the char creator was lacking.

Some, even go and call it "underwhelming" which i believe if both an overstatement and an arrogant comment against CCP's efforts.

This said, IMO seems like CCP didn't explore enough of hair-dos (and hair-don'ts) into the char creator.

Also, the current hair-style seriously lack a killer-feature: control the length, modeling it and hair horizontal flip, am sure these 3 must go in the next fix.

CCP i want to have this hair style!

Nice!

I also feel CCP didn't go overboard with the face features and expressions, which i feel is really lacking the most defining factor, which is asymmetry, people usually have one eye a little bit bigger than the other, also slighty offset, i know we are clones and ****znitz but humans aren't all symmetrical.

Also i wonder why CCP didn't let anyone use other races of clothing, is more a thing of style rather than race and am sure there will be plenty of fashion awareness challenged players out there clamoring for an "eclectic" look

Same with the clothing, why there is no white shirts? Buttoned stuff or blue jeans? or how about a sharp suit? am sure that after years of being in a good tank, whenever anyone comes out they'll want to make it up wearing some Armani, right?

I know its a work in progress and that's what have me excited, btw for those who ever played battlefield bad company 2, one of the most impresive graphic features in the game is the texture of the uniform, idk how the did it, but CCP should take note.

Linkage

Still the Char creator impressed me a lot it has a lot of potential, which type of hair-do, clothing or detail do u feel your char creator is lacking? besides tatoos, pirate patches and vegeta-like visors ofc.

My biggest problem with the character creator, old or new, is the fact that you can't see a "preview" or something like that of what the picture will look like when it's a relevant size.

Relevant size would be: the large pic at the login screen, the small pic at the login screen, the character sheet pic, and the show info pic.

Not-so-relevant sizes are: the 4 small pics (too small to see how it will look) or the actual character model (same thing but 'cause it's way bigger), that is too say: the sizes that are avaliable.

While your ignorance of genetic is obvious and bliss. Do not think that in a universe of so many planets and so many different cultures that all is black white and yellow. I do agree that all genres of color should be added to the spectrum. This is a sandbox so you cant say a sandbox is segregated to only blacks over here and all whites over here.

I do understand your ignorance from the words you wrote but this is space with hundreds of worlds. each empire has hundreds of worlds under their control and capsulars are not limited in their races. This is a game of choice and while i can be a caldari and choose to fly an amarr ship that should be the same respect when it comes to race choices. we are not the main characters which is delegated to CCP of who they want them to be. We should always have the choice of character color. Do not tell me that all characters in the amarr empire are all white or all characters in another race are all black. Do not come to the forums with ignorance but with facts from the game itself and proof statements from CCP.

You can, but it takes a bit of work. When you've saved one of the 4 pics, alt-tab out to your cache directory, under pictures/portraits. You'll see the PortraitSnapshot_0.jpg etc in there.. the resolutions are pretty clear at that size, and can give a pretty accurate idea of what you're going to get when you hit that "save" button.

While shortcuts are a great idea, they are still lacking some major features:
- still no shortcuts for market operations
- multiple shortcuts for a single function (i.e. one for keyboard, one for mouse)
- multiple functions of a shortcut depending on situation (i.e. space combat or trading on market)
- assigning additional shortcuts to locked ones (i.e. confirm or cancel with mouse button)
