Don't fix what's not broken Razz
not supported, sorry

But it is broken.

No it's not.
Trying to fix capital issues by braking cloaking devices is something like a rectal surgery on the eye.

This change does nothing overly negative to users of non covert cloaking devices that aren't in capital ships.

Quote:
fyi capital ships can refit near each other

Completely irrelevant.

Quote:
and they can cap transfer to each other

Completely irrelevant.

Quote:
no cap pilots will be affected by this

Bull.

And being able to catch Jackie Chan is bad? Are you familiar with the term 'population control'?

Did you noticed a lot of cloaking devices in a capital kill mails?

Why would there be any? The entire point of this is that cloaking makes it hard to kill them.

Super-capitals are supposedly alliance level assets. If an individual buys one and fails to get support when moving it .. coup-de-grace. Eve is a better game without fools in super-capitals

You have neglected to explain why NON-Capital ships should also be affected by this change...

Sub-caps do not rely on the cloaked recharge for getting out of a pickle like capitals do.
Sub-caps have cap boosters and generally have a lot of cap just from recharge while warping to safe.

In short, they are affected but it has no significant impact on their operation in 99% of cases.

lol on the big bold print,

+1 anyway

(may add this to your proposal) Roleplayer reason: Due to the inefficiency of non covops cloaks, all energy gernerated by the ship must be put into maintaining the cloak, all excess energy created by cap recahrgers is dumped to keep the cloak from being overloaded.

It is quite obvious none of you have ever lived in a wormhole where it is require to cloak certain ships. And no I am not talking about my anathema or my pilgrim. Im talking about my orca. You ever tried to pop a wormhole with an orca and the wormhole has a variance on the mass? You need to have an orca inside of a potentially hostile wormhole for a protracted period of time while you get the mass right with BC/BS.

Not supported.

It is quite obvious an Orca's capacitor not recharging while cloaked has nothing to do with what you are arguing about. Did you read my entire proposal?

Need more support, you know you want to!

Also this would include a -100% to shield recharge. You can't repair your armor, while cloaked so it would only make sense that shields don't passive recharge.

Remember people, this is for NON-COVERT OPS CLOAKS ONLY!

-100% to recharge time means the recharge time will go to 0 and cap will recharge instantly. Or crash the node with a div/0 error.

But it's a good start for fixing cloaks, something which should include more then just this change which focuses on supercaps recharging with impunity.

I can support the cap reduction if its on capitals only. shield regen is just stupid.

here is why its a bad idea for subcaps:

example: I jump into system with my vaga with cloak, ***gots are camping both gates, but I managed to run the first one. now they got more people. I cloak up in scan range of both and wait for my chance. 10 min later I have no shield or capacitor when the camps have shrunk and so:
1. I cant warp to gate because I wont have cap for the whole warp
2. I cant burn once I get on other side
3. I have no shields. even if they all leave i will be so angry while I sit twiddling my thumbs for 10 minutes waiting for my shields to come back (I cant cloak and wait for it either so I ahve to pay attention). this is also a soloer nerf. so no, I dont support it unless you change a few things.

He's not proposing to make cloaking drain cap/shields, just that it stop them recharging while the cloak is active - if you cloaked up with, say, half cap and 60% shields, you'd still be at half cap and 60% shields when you decloaked. That's all.

I'd want even more radical changes to cloaks, but this is a good enough step.

Just incredible how long it took for someone to point that out.
Amazing to see how many people give a +1 to such an obviously wrong approach to achieve a desired effect.

You might want to adjust your proposal to something like -100% capacitor recharge.

Nice catch there. I would change it to -100% capacitor recharge but sadly Marlona Sky account is currently serving a forum ban for a while, so it won't let me edit it. I hope people are able to read enough to know it was supposed to say capacitor recharge.

That being said, can I get a thumbs up on this now? Very Happy

Bump for a good idea.

And yes, both covert cloaks and black ops ships should be exempt from the penalty.

I still believe that since the purpose of this whole idea is to prevent cloaked capitol ships from jumping without exposing themselves, it would make much more sense to introduce capitol size cloaking device, and simply prevent regular cloaks from activating on capitols. Have like a maximum mass limit.

I support the main idea, but not its implementation.

I was going for the low hanging fruit thing. By introducing a brand new module, you have to do a new blueprint, what it takes to build, etc. I was just hoping for a couple changes to the normal cloak we have now. Thought that would be easier. It is the reason why I think all damage controls should just be flat out passive. Then there is the argument that neutralizing a capital ship/when they log the damage control turns off so it can be killed. A new capital ship damage control could be introduced that uses capacitor and the normal damage control could be set to passive.

So I guess it really just depends on what would be easier for CCP to do. I honestly don't think non capital ships would really suffer at all if they could not regain capacitor or shield while cloaked. They are safe, and that is all 99% of everyone who warps off to a safe spot cares about. After all, it's why they call it a safe spot, not a cap recharge spot. Wink

Agreed. I prefer the original proposal's modification to the idea of a new cloaking device. Duplicate modules aren't a very elegant way of fixing problems.

As for removing passive recharge...ehh. I suppose, though the amount of time it'd take to regenerate any significant amount of hit points is so long that I'm not sure it's an issue.
