Pleas make selfdestruct while being engaged impossible...
I mean it sucks if you got a cap tackled you know it can't get away it will die slowely but surely and then you get the popup that XXX activated selfdestruct and will destroy himself in 120seconds....


or atleast give out killmails even when selfdestructing

How about no?

If you can't kill something in the 2 minutes it takes to SD, you either don't want the kill or you don't deserve it.

Since the point of shooting something is to make sure it's dead, and self destruct makes sure he's dead, it's really not a big issue.

And if killmails are the main reason, then sorry, there's enough kb whoring as it is, give it a rest

Not needed. If you keep them pinned for 2 minutes, they die and you don't even have to use any ammo...

how's this for a compromise:

you can only cancel SD within 30 secs of activating it. (personally don't think this is necessary either, but thought I'd throw it out there to show willing)

Don't deserve it? According to who? You?

You have a point though. One of EVE's biggest problems right now is that gangs just aren't big enough. I fear that the addition of KMs for self-destructing ships would encourage people to fly around in smaller gangs, something we definitely don't want to see happen.

Only if they choose to self-destruct.


There's no real reason why you shouldn't get a KM for a self-destructing ship. You directly caused it to die.

I think if Killmails were removed from the game completely it would be much better.

Far too many people are too reserved about what they fly in case they lose it and ruin their Destroyed/Lost ratio. Killmail *****s are annoying in the fact they spilt their weapons to fire off one or two single shots off at every ship on the field...

If there is going to be any change to killmails it should be that they get removed.

I totally agree on this, the reward for destroying something should be the sheer joy of destruction and a nice explosion, not the goddamn killmails. And the loot, ofcourse.

Remove the "no loot from selfdestruct" though, maybe then we'll see less selfdestructing caps caught in inappropriate places at inappropriate times. Or, at least, more fun for SD'ed ones. So that the ones who caught this ship and managed to force its owner to selfdestruct it would be a bit more rewarded than just the sheer joy of destruction :)

No. Self destruct is 1 way the weaker side can grief the stronger side. I support anything that increases the number of ways to hurt people. Denying killmail and loot is a good way to **** off the winning side

I would support changing the self destruct count down timer based on ship size. Basically, caps should be 5 mins. Supercaps should be 10 minutes. Still small enough that a smart pilot can use it effectively, but giving more chances to attackers.

Maybe so. I've once expressed idea of removing the killmails altogether, but this would remove some positive functions of killmail that are not related to "killmailwhoring" in any way.

The pilot selfdestructing his cap ship already loses his ship and modules on it. Isn't that point why you're shooting him in the first place?

Self-destruct can also be a method of counter-intel by not giving away details of a particular ship fitting or cargo.

So no. If you're that keen to see your name in lights, just post a fake killmail to jerk off over.
