There's only one version, the full version. Any trial restrictions are based on the account used, not on the client.

It is possible Steam may be hosting an old patch. I doubt it, but any client will update to the correct version. Smile

And Estel is correct, there is no Demo version. You play on the full client as a trial or full account. Welcome to EVE!

I'd avoid using steam to play eve tbh. I bought a key for a second account when it was on sale a while ago and it still says 'eve tyrannis' in my game list.

When I run it from steam, it asks me to download the new updates so it doesn't do it automatically like other games. I think I'll remove it from my library come to think of it.

Keep it simple and download the full client (outwith steam) and you shouldn't have any problems

I play Eve on Steam no problem. It doesn't "automatically update" because Eve isn't a Valve game, not because of some inherent bugginess; non-Steam users still do the same update process as you.

The incorrect name thing is a tad concerning, but you can just change it manually if you're that bothered.

That's one of the selling points of Steam, that all games auto update so there's no need to do it manually, not just Valve games. Eve seems to be an exception to the rule for some reason.
