Ive recently started reading chronicles and came across "The prophecy of Macaper" and found it really interesting, and how the last four prophecies might relate to recent, and future events in EvE.

Fourth prophecy; “the appetite of nothing expands over the world”

This made me think of Apocrypha and the destruction of 3HQC-6 planet 1 (from the apocrypha trailer) as a result from the formation of a wormhole.

Fifth prophecy; “the little brother makes the final sorrowful steps home; he is not welcome”

Sansha and Incursion? (ive read very little on Sansha and the nation tho)

Sixth prophecy; “what was many now becomes one when one becomes four”

Perhaps the four empires of EvE united under one flag?

Seventh prophecy; “return of the dark light from the heart of the mother”

Reopening of the EvE gate, and reestablished (hostile) contact from earth and the milky way?

I know my theories are vague at best, but my knowlegde of the history of New Eden is very low atm.

What are your theories, or do you belive that they can be linked to any event? (as is the nature of almost all prophecies)

I had similar thoughts a few months ago when I found the sleeper/jove/sansha nation storyline.
Hopefully with the next expansion we may find some content that goes further into the story for us to speculate over Very Happy

Prophecy is always vague enough that it could apply to many things.

My initial thought was also blackhole which could imply wormhole, but they are not the same thing. Also Apocrypha impacted several worlds.

Another word for nothingness is nihility, the base of word nihilism. Nihilism is the idea that life has no fundamental meaning or purpose, a more commonly used word for this is fatalism, which sounds very much to me like the Jovian malaise.

Thus we have the idea that the Jovian malaise is consuming Jovian Society.

However another meaning of Nihilism is, "The annihilation of the self, or the individual consciousness...". Which could easily refer to Sansha's Nation.

The only part of that that fits is the "not welcome". I don't see any reason to assume "the little brother" is Sansha Kuvakei.

I think little brother is more likely the younger races of New Eden and the not welcome refers to the hostile reception we receive in Anoikis.

It's "when one become four", not four becoming one.

I think the "many now becomes one" probably refers to those individuals that have been take by Sansha into it's single consciousness. If that is the case, the "when" implies that one (has already) become four. The only thing I can think of that fits, is the previous Anti-Sansha alliance has dissolved.

I think the Heart of the mother must refer to the Eve gate. The only thing that has come from the Eve gate recently is Jamyl's Isogen-5 superweapon, which we know has an effect on stars.

This sounds more like a blackhole.

We once again end up firmly in the realm of ancient Greek Mythology.

I would really love to get a fuller text of The Seven Events of the Apocalypse.

From Wikipedia:

Erebus was later depicted as a material region, the lower half of Hades, the underworld. It was where the dead had to pass immediately after dying. Charon ferried the souls of the dead across the river Styx, upon which they entered the land of the dead.

"That's no black hole, it's a wormhole!

Hey, wait a minute...

That reminds me of something.

"Once again into the darkness, and for a moment she could almost feel that wind on her face, as the data that represented who she was failed to cross the river back home."

Oh, and "coming into existence even as it is destroyed" sounds more like an Ouroboros. Or, as according to Wikipedia:

"The living being had no need of eyes when there was nothing remaining outside him to be seen; nor of ears when there was nothing to be heard; and there was no surrounding atmosphere to be breathed; nor would there have been any use of organs by the help of which he might receive his food or get rid of what he had already digested, since there was nothing which went from him or came into him: for there was nothing beside him. Of design he was created thus, his own waste providing his own food, and all that he did or suffered taking place in and by himself. For the Creator conceived that a being which was self-sufficient would be far more excellent than one which lacked anything; and, as he had no need to take anything or defend himself against any one, the Creator did not think it necessary to bestow upon him hands: nor had he any need of feet, nor of the whole apparatus of walking; but the movement suited to his spherical form was assigned to him, being of all the seven that which is most appropriate to mind and intelligence; and he was made to move in the same manner and on the same spot, within his own limits revolving in a circle. All the other six motions were taken away from him, and he was made not to partake of their deviations. And as this circular movement required no feet, the universe was created without legs and without feet."

Khaos (Chaos) in Greek Mythology. - the formless or void state preceding the creation of the universe and Primal Chaos was sometimes said to be the true foundation of reality.

The Children of Chaos in Greek Mythology.

Nyx, the sister/wife of Erbus and daughter of Khaos, was the mother of Hypnos (sleep), Thánatos (death) and Oneiroi (Dreams). Hypnos caused Zeus to sleep before fleeing to Nyx to avoid his wrath and Nyx confronted Zeus with a mothers fury. Oneiroi urged Agamemnon to make war on Troy at Zeus bidding. Cassandra (Prophetess) that nobody believed predicted the death of Agamemnon and the fall of troy.

Phanes was a suitor of Nyx who was the progenitor of Chronos (Time) who manipulates the Zodiac Wheel.

The problem with prophecies are that they can be interpreted in different ways.

The sixth prophecy; “what was many now becomes one when one becomes four” could just as well be about the Elder war.

When the CONCORD Bureau was destroyed the 5 arms of the station were reduced to just one. And with CONCORD out of the picture the 4 Empires unstable peace shattered and war resumed.

So many became one, and one became 4.

More on Chaos.
Quote:
Chaos - in one ancient Greek myth of creation, the dark, silent abyss from which all things came into existence. According to the Theogony of Hesiod, Chaos generated the solid mass of Earth, from which arose the starry, cloud-filled Heaven. Mother Earth and Father Heaven, personified respectively as Gaea and her offspring Uranus, were the parents of the Titans. In a later theory, Chaos is the formless matter from which the cosmos, or harmonious order, was created.

Quote:
Mathematically, chaos refers to a very specific kind of unpredictability: deterministic behaviour that is very sensitive to its initial conditions.[16] In other words, infinitesimal variations in initial conditions for a chaotic dynamic system lead to large variations in behaviour.

Quote:
Chaotic systems consequently appear disordered and random. However, they are actually deterministic systems governed by physical or mathematical laws, and so are completely predictable given perfect knowledge of the initial conditions.

Quote:
"edge of chaos" may refer to the behaviour of certain classes of cellular automata.

Rouge Drones (and perhaps Sleepers) are analogues of Cellular automata which are the simplest self replicating machines so far conceived, c.f. Von Neumann Machines.
