As Eve's 14th expansion, 'Incursion', is slowly drip-fed to a quasi-excited community like Vitoc to an under-aged Minmatar slaveboy, perhaps it is time to look back at what has passed, how Eve has changed, and when for you the most exciting period was. Some expansions have been well received, others less so, but are Eve's "good" expansions a universally agreed upon thing, or is it all highly subjective?

Which of the expansions was your personal favourite, and why?

For me it would have to be Apocrypha. I loved (and still love) everything about it - the mystery of the Sleepers, the strange new wormholes, the new small-group forced oriented gameplay, and of course the banishment of local. Even the login screen had great music that I miss sorely.

What about you?

Apocrypha, for the same reasons as you. Also because I still use the features introduced every day - WHs.

Apocrypha had POLISH that the others lacked.

I was very sad to find out later that probably the only reason it was so great was that they put an absurd # of developers and teams together to do it. A number that probably will not be repeated now that CCP has other games to worry about.

The castor patch.

Times were tough for the average joe, that one, two battleships you had were going down fast and hard with 40-50 missiles crawling up the tailpipe.

Big buffing those npc's with their spawn right at you 10km every few minutes made mining the resources to replace them virtualy imposable on any sort of scale.

Back when eve truely was cruel and harsh on youRazz

After that CCP did promise never to deliver something so bad.
Thus far they kept their word. Very Happy

Apocrypha: wormholes + t3. Trinity: hictors, rorquals, EAFs.
CCP's developers are always running around like chickens with their heads cut off, trying to invent reasons to alter the game. Factional warfare. Sansha incursions. And yet the only thing we all really want is more content. Everyone's favorite expansions are the ones where they add new space, new NPC enemies and loots, and new ships.

Incursion (assuming everything runs smooth) BECAUSE it is the first expansion that hasnt been deployed half finished (despite the bugs), splitting the expansion into three parts was a great idea imo. It has changes that have been requested by players for years and there is a new thing introduced that encouraged team work, death and destruction.

Worst expansion was Dominion, CCP managed to make 0.0 worse than it was, I really hope the next expansion focuses on nullsec & lowsec while targeting botters, this isnít about supercap lameage but about the general timers and ******ed mechanics of claiming sov

Apocrypha - lots of content, quite stable and not as laggy for some reason.

1st patch after Castor expansion is my all time favorite! Very Happy

Castor itself was horrible, lost my first BS (mined kernite for a month+ to aford it)to a bunch of frigs in 0.0 but once the 1st patch afterwards was out things got much better.
So all in all Castor is top but everyone going online after that wont get how hardcore it was back then.

Quantum Rise - lots of server improvements (that were mainly deployed before the actual expansion but that CCP counts as QR content).

... just don't call it an Industry expansion^^

I came in to the game on January 20th of 2006. So I was there for RmR almost from the start of that patch. I have enjoyed everything since then except the coil of steaming mess called Trinity. I quit the game for a year with that abortion.

I joined about a week after Trinity, so that can't count and Dominion is crarp. I think I have to agree with the majority Apocphrcha was excellent.

Revelations.

4 new battleships, 4 new battlecruisers, rigs, invention, salvaging and boosters.

Revelations was the best time I had in EVE.

If the Myrm was introduced with Revelations than it gets an honorable mention.

The first one I experienced back in 2004, the one that added advanced learning skills. I liked training learnings, designing the optimal path and building my character(s) to reap the benefits later. People are lazy and impatient. Confused

For all the stuff it gave us, for the fact that it was when i joined eve, and because it also gave us that super awesome flash video whose name escapes me right now.
