ok, so we all love epic stuff right? How about a ship about twice the size of a titan a "Galaxy class ship" (i know kinda treky) but here is some stuff it could do
- the ship would have to be piloted by more then one user at a time, 2 or 3 so 2-3 people would have to be "docked inside it" on primary person would "fly it" one would target it
- this is so one person woulndt have all the control
- it would be a "corperate" ship
- Mobile hangar
- 3 diff modes, Offense, Deffense, and Industry
- So in other words you and your corp would have a huge badass slow moving ship to either kill ****, deffend your ****, or mine/haul/refine/build ****
- yes thats right the fire power of titan, or the most powerful pos deffence ever.
- and it could either mine, haul, or refine but not all at the same time
- it could also build new ships inside of it, anything under capital class.
more ideas to come as i think of them but maybe yall get the picture time to go back to work..

while your idea is kinda cool we have a problem right now with power inflation. If that can somehow be brought under control then I wouldnt be opposed to a large pos style ship. This ship should should cost 100x the minerals of a titan though. And if more mining bots are brought online then the multiple should rise so that it will always be painful no matter who you are.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mudflation <-- the biggest problem with eve right now.

The current ships aren't big enough for you? lol

Sounds like a fun idea but I am really not sure it would work.

It's considered polite to first read sticky's and do a search before posting anything on a forum. ugh

You cannot have multiple players in a ship CCP tried it and it did very bad things to the database. CCP wanted Titans to be mobile stations but could not get it to work, there is a long thread somewhere that has a CCP dev explain in detail why it will not work.

As for twice the size of a galaxy ship (642meters)A hyperion is almost three times that size (1700m). A revelation is ten times the size of a Galaxy class ship.

Sad but true.
The jumpportal module is a direct fallout from that problem, so that you could at least help move multiple ppl without them docking up with the titan.
tbh i still have some hope that CCP has not given up on handling the problem.

To the OP:
Basicly nice idea but i wonder if you have an idea how many ppl in EVE have 3+ accounts.
I would guess at least 15%, not counting those RMTs.
In the end that ship would be just as common as the titans or SCs, making EVE even more of a cap-ship game than it is now.

When you said Galaxy Class I actually immediately thought Macross Frontier City Dome Style Ship(one of which was called Gallaxy)

I think having a Mobile Station would be an awesome idea :)

Do you have any more details on the technical reasons why?

It seems to me a real shame this kind of thing can't be done. It would be great if we could overcome various problems preventing players from taking a ride with other players, titans working as stations, and outposts being destructable etc.

"huge badass slow moving ship , "yes thats right the fire power of titan" - so its a titan with a workshop and a second kitchen?

Even with double the tank it will melt faster then ice-cream on a hot day. If you donít believe me do the math. How many minutes will it last if 100 people (25 of each class: capital, BS, BC, Frig) start shooting at it?

Also, who owns it if? if person A disconnects and person B does not doe it automatically transfer its ownership?

Do a search for the thread. From that I remember it was something to do with the database structure being built on the assumption that players/entites own all objects, when you attempt to place players inside another player object it causes a recursive lookup loop or something. I have not read the thread for a number of years so I may be off base.

There maybe something in the hive ship thread where they were talking about a mobile station that could jump at down time to a new system. Here is the eve search link.

Hive ship.

I also seem to remember something about DCs/logging being part of the problem.
  • if pilot DCs, ship emergency warps, then disappears.
  • what happens to the other occupants?

That could be resolved by either making the ship persistent or kicking all the players that are active out in what ever ship they current have active before the emergency warp. Non active players get kick and immediately emergency warp and disappear.

They never go around to deciding the best solution for this as they could not get the first step to work.

Is there anyone in game that you trust enough to be the person who is responsible for targetting and shooting at enimy targets in your multi-multi-billion ISK ship?

Pilot/Owner: Shoot the enimies they are killing us....
Gunner: pay me 3 Billion randsom and I will shoot them.

Maybe it would work better if your "galatic ship" was formed out of 3 caps / super caps, to form a mega-cap. Then if one person DCs or logs, the ship just breaks up into its constituent parts.

On the otherhand, this kinda just sounds like a POS that can move.

There was a thread about this, that resulted a similar suggestion for multiple pilot ship. It was a type of swarm ship that grouped together and automatically spread damage across the swarm.
