I need some help planning how to spend the 2.5M the character will be getting back from Learning skills. I know I want to put him in a Dominix but I am worried about not being able to fly it well. CharacterAny input would be appreciated, I plan on mostly doing missions with the character using drones. Thanks |

The first thing I have to say is something you won't want to hear: You are not ready to mission with the Dominix. You are correct in your worry about not flying it well.
You need better Drones skills. Amarr Drone Specialization IV Caldari Drone Specialization IV Combat Drone Operation V Drone Durability IV Drone Interfacing V Drone Navigation IV Drone Sharpshooting IV Gallente Drone Specialization IV Minmatar Drone Specialization IV Sentry Drone Interfacing IV or V
You need better Electronics skills. Electronics V (CPU fitting skill) Electronics Upgrades IV Signature Analysis IV or V (faster locking = faster killing)
You need better Engineering skills. Energy Grid Upgrades IV Energy Management V (capacitor is very important for those reppers!) Energy Systems Operation V (ditto) Engineering V (power grid fitting skill) Shield Management V (shield skills still important even to armor-tanking ships) Shield Operation V (ditto)
You need better Gunnery skills. Advanced Weapon Upgrades IV Controlled Bursts IV or V Gunnery V Large Hybrid Turret V Large Railgun Specialization IV Medium Hybrid Turret V Medium Railgun Specialization IV Motion Prediction IV Rapid Firing IV Sharpshooter IV Small Hybrid Turret V Small Railgun Specialization IV Weapon Upgrades V
You need better Mechanic skills. Armor Rigging IV Drones Rigging IV Hull Upgrades V Hybrid Weapon Rigging IV Jury Rigging III Mechanic V Repair Systems IV or V
I would suggest using your refunded skill points on Gallente Cruiser and Battlecruisers skills, getting both to at least IV. Dump whatever's left into Drones skills, specifically Drone Interfacing V and Combat Drone Operation V. Fly the Vexor and Myrmidon in L2 and L3 missions until you have at least 75% of the skills I listed above. |

Wow thanks for such a detailed reply, quite a long training time for all of them but a good goal for the future. |

Some of the suggested skills are redundant, practically useless, or merely not a priority at all for a prospective Domi pilot.
-Amarr and Caldari drone specs: easily skippable, whatever he is fighting in PvE or in PvP.
-Electronic Upgrades: don't even but & inject the skillbook until you're interested in CovOps/Recons.
-For a Domi, you can forego the heaviest shield tanking specs (like Shield management V) and go straight for competent armor tanking. Train the Armor compensation skills to IV, it's short and well worth it in both PvE and PvP (where EANM IIs and similar modules are useful).
-Hybrid weapon rigging IV can also wait, and you can go instead for Repair Systems V, which rocks for mission running and certain PvP setups.

If he's PvEing against Gurista or Serpentis, at least the Caldari drones will be useful. |

But using the proper T2 drones makes missioning easier. Quote: -For a Domi, you can forego the heaviest shield tanking specs (like Shield management V) and go straight for competent armor tanking. I haven't seen a good missioning Domi fit that includes EANMs instead of hardeners. PvP yes, but not PvE. The shield skills are useful for EVERY ship in the game, in EVERY situation. And in any case, I did say that 25% of the skills on the list can wait ... didn't I? |

As far as I know, Gallente drones have a damage multiplier so high that it basically compensates, in PvE, for the resist holes they might be ignoring. In PvP, Minmatar drone specialization is useful for Warrior IIs. I've missioned against all sorts of rats, and I still kill faster with Gallente drones, for sure. And for PvP, Amarr drones are said to be useless, and I agree (in my limited experience with T1 ones). Yes. Actually, that's what I said: " well worth it in both PvE and PvP (where EANM IIs and similar modules are useful)". EANM IIs are great in PvP, but the compensations are still useful in PvE for some fittings. Shield skills are useful for anything, correct, but if his goal is using a Domi, I wouldn't put things like Shield management V on top of the priority list, specially when you did not specifically include Repair Systems V which rules.. Just my two cents. Quote: And in any case, I did say that 25% of the skills on the list can wait ... didn't I?
You did, and it was a very nice list indeed. I merely wanted to fine tune it a bit, taking a few skills from up there so that it didn't look so LOOOOOOONG to him. |

Well... to get the best bang for you buck, put the new skillpoints into skills that your NOT mapped to train.
Your character is Int/Mem mapped (good choice for starting out!). So, all the electronics, engineering, and mechanic skillz your already setup to train.
Your drone skills are Mem/prec... so you still train these at an alright speed. Your Spaceship command/gunnery skills are Perc/Will... which your not setup to train and where you "should" put your points.... but.... you can become an overnight lvl 4 mission runner if you don't care about efficiency.
For lvl 4 missions, you typically want/need minimumish: sentry drones IV (400k), t2 medium/light drones (drone spec 2), BS IV (500k), dcu2 & t2 hardeners (Hull upgrades V (500k), t2 large armor repper (Mechanic V 250k), t2 cap rechargers (energy grid upgrades III), plus 60m to buy and fit out your ship.
Add in BC IV (for lvl 3's), Leadership III, and Military Connections V and your at 2.4m sp. Overnight you'll be Lvl III and IV mission runner assuming you have the isk and access to the mission agents (Use a missioning guide).
Military Connections will significantly increases the loyalty points gain (which is the primary source of income for pro-lvl 4 mission runners... they typically blitz missions).
Note, cpu and pg wont be an issue since you don't have big guns.... but Engineering and Electronics V are very nice to have, and when you decide to add guns, Adv. Weapons Upgrades is Huge! |

People always forgetting Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing. Its not a high priority I admit, but it should be on any Domi Mission Runner skill plan. Great for missions with those huge distances. |

Only really holds true for EM-weak rats, partly because they all have thermal as their second lowest resist, and partly because of the abysmally low multiplier on Amarr drones. However, against kintic and explosive-weak rats, the Caldari and Minmatar drones will do more damage than the Gallente ones. On top of this, they move faster and track better, so on top of the higher effective damage output (=kills faster), you get better-quality hits (=kills faster) and less downtime between targets (=kills faster). The thermal drones are the best generalist drones, but if you want to squeeze the most performance out of your drones, you want to pick the right drones for the right target (again, except for the EM drones). |

Thank you all for taking an interest, its very helpful.
As far as becoming an overnight L4 runner goes, I am not even up to L2s so I am willing to wait a few months to run them efficiently (if it doesn't take me that long to get to L4s anyway!). |
