Would love to see this posted on youtube or something, CCP.

C'mon, not all of us can take plane rides to see a movie just for a trailer.

Posted - 2010.12.10 01:58:00 - [62]

awesome! i hope they will throw in the new character creation in the trailer and such! its great to put it in a movie before hand more people need to know about Eve Online!

IF I can acquire a tape recorder AND smuggle it in AND don't get caught with it, I will try my hardest to bring it to youtube goodness subject to lack of legal action by CCP against me or my accounts*.

*(provided CCP isn't gonna sue me for doing're not, are you? right?)

Boo.. I'm driving 100 miles to see Tron Legacy in IMAX at St Louis and will still miss it (by another 400 miles).

CCP you just ruined Christmas! Crying or Very sad

Now being serious: this is pretty cool. However, I hope its better than the last mainstream ad put out. The Empyrean Age clip on SciFi (sorry "SyFy") seemed too condensed, especially for potential new players.

Wait a second .. 8 minute eve trailer in cinemas ?
Like a Eve Online short movie *hint hint* :D

Meaning the trailer will be shown 8 minutes before the movie, not for 8 minutes.

LOL I think it was a matter of open slots and places willing to accept it. To be honest it is not CCP's fault but rather the limitations of the venues available for advertisements.

But lore suggests that if we make CCP Oveur giggle like a school-girl, he will grant you a wish. And my wish is for it being in Nashville Very Happy

Alternatively, I'll just crash on your couch for the weekend...

Given that there are no Ohio theaters on the list, will we at least get to see it via YouTube or something?

None in Oklahoma either, (and I hear the Warren in OKC is pretty good.)

Oh, well. Texas is only about 40 miles away.

For the record. The number at the end indicates the number of screens a theater has. So "Movies 14" is really about as generic a name as you can get for a theater with 14 showings available at once.

...The nearest theater to me ends in 5... much as I'd like to see this, and not have to drive a long distance to do so, showing it there would be a travesty. A crime against cinema. Not because there are only 5 screens to choose from, because the place has lousy equipment badly in need of repair or replacement.

P.S. I'm hoping for a good, special made trailer as well. I trust CCP to do this well. They've managed to continue growing, and I think a lot of that is due to advertising.

P.P.S. Odd. I was sure I read someone asking what the numbers meant. Oh well.

Thanks for forgetting about Canada.....

Everyone forgets about the quiet neighbour up north. Until the day we snap.
Anywho good idea shame there's nothing in canada but w/e an 8 min short movie trailer of EVE sounds like it's past due. Mixing it with Tron is just madness. Maybe I can talk with my buddy and see how much it'll cost to get the EVE short in the IMAX in Edmonton. *starts to pass the hat around*

Wait... Oregon is a state? I thought it was a herb!

People people, it's an ad. You're slavering over watching an ad. Sure, it's an ad for your particular flavour of crack, but still. Rolling Eyes

edit: Nowhere does it say it's an 8-minute movie. It's an ad that screens about 8-15 minutes before the movie. It'll be a normal 15-30 second collage of visuals designed to get people interested. This isn't the superbowl everyone.

Yeah, to agree with most people in the thread, i'm slightly confused as to the very limited selection of locations...unless you guys are running something like a test program to gauge responses before expanding it further. 39 theaters out of what's probably tens of thousands in america (not to mention even more in Europe/Canadiopia/Australia) seems like a very small selection Smile

Now THERE'S an idea. think the council can talk CCP into doing a PLEX drive for superbowl commercial time?

But those of you with a job can't play 16 hours a day 7 days a week until the unemployment benefits run out.

I am not surprised to see no Oklahoma. Disappointed, sure, the list is so SMALL.
I am surprised to see no Colorado. I think the IT crowd camped Colorado a decade or more ago and have yet to decamp.
I would like to see city names, and possibly addresses appended to the list in post one. Some of those names are chain names. Unless you recognize the name of your local theater there, I don't see much way of discovering the closest, (no, I haven't tried Google yet.)

Could have had at least one in Minnesota -- we've got lots of Showplace theaters around here.

Good news for EVE overall, but damn if that didn't ruin my week...

Still excited to go see the new TRON though.

Someone who's going to see the trailer -- bring your fancy phone and record that thing. Upload it for the rest of us!

this is like when I found out 4G mobiles aren't 4G. The phones kick so much ass, but LTE isnt close to the 100Mb requirement.
