I've seen similar threads before but one particularly useless mod has prompted me to start this thread.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the stasis drone augmentor rig (small).

If you don't know about this rig, it gives a bonus to the rather useless stasis web drones - which only come in berserker (heavy) sizes. So a FRIGATE sized rig that applies a bonus only to a heavy drone. Can anyone really justify giving up half of the drone bay and ALL of the bandwidth of a dedicated drone frigate like an ishkur or a worm to use this single drone which means they have no dps and, even with 2 t2 rigs, will only web at a bit under 29% ?

I declare this rig to be totally loltastic. Over to the rest of you for your own thoughts.

It is crap, it is a indicator that there are some issues with drones. However ccp empoyees dont pvp themselve and using drone boats for missions and plexes is **** so people need to cry alot on forums first to have ccp take a look at it. It the same issue as with the gallente blasters, or ships that have 3 Shocked different weapon systems, ie lach; missiles, turrets, drones Evil or Very Mad

In other words it is fail so go train minmatar

When was the last time you saw a webber drone actually usedon any sized ship?

if they were medium (or even have 3 sizes) then the rigs would become useful

Same goes for the small sentry damage augmentor.

BTW: there are the occasional drone-heavy fits that use stasis webbing drones as "pretackle" to allow them and their gangmates to burn into tackle range on a target. They are best swapped for damage drones once the target is tackled though.

An example of this can be found with this small-gang Gila fit.

Extra max targets, lovely for certain ships. Not worth it over a gun but if you've got the utility high it is.

Travel ship perhaps, I believe some people use it on a Tengu to do l4s like Guristas Spies too.

Liquid Cooled Electronics rigs.

Quote:
This ship modification is designed to reduce the CPU need of modules which require the electronics upgrades skill.

There are only 3 modules affected and Co-Processors do not use any CPU. The other two are the Sensor Backup Arrays, and Signal Amplifiers, none of which pose a CPU fitting problem. Signal Amplifier II uses the most, a whole 25tf before the reduction bonus from the skill itself, which knocks it down to 18.75. Rolling Eyes

Why would anyone fit this rig? It's useless.

anything attached to the term "flux coil".

also ECCM omni is not that useless.

difference between a ECCM omni and a racial specific ECCM is actually cap consumption.

on the rest (sensor str bonus, cpu usage) is pretty much the same.

No way, have seen them used frequently, they are handy for active shield setups for missioning

Should throw away the useless stasis drone augmentor and make way for a new drone bandwidth augmentor rig or something like that.

Yeah, I remember when sized rigs were introduced and I had to go out and buy all the new BPOs. When I got to the small drone rigs category I laughed, knowing that I'll never build any of these. (Though the idea of a sentry-rigged Ishkur ammused me for a while.)

Of course, I had to click "buy" on the BPOs anyway, just for completeness sake.

Actually, flux coils are quite useful in some niche setups. I unfortunately deleted them but they worked decently for passive shield tanking the nightmare and navy megathron. Not the most practical of setups, I know, but I did say niche for a reason and impractical but fun is decidedly a niche in this game else you'd see more blaster boat setups for mission ships.

Regenerative Plating/Membrane. I'd forgotten they existed until I killed someone with one fit a month or so ago. so far as i can tell it is NEVER better to fit over resists, unless you're EFTwarrioring raw armor for some reason.

The 50mm plate probably don't add more ehp to a frig than an adaptive nano plate would.

yeah because shield tanks must be able to permarunRolling Eyes

flux coils are a joke. power diags still offer more benefits than cap flux coils, and don't even get me started on the shield flux coils...

only reason I see for the usage of cap flux coils is for taxying a carrier around, and even then, CPR's provide better coverage by not nerfing your tanking/repping ability if it's needed.

Tech 2 armor plates! Featuring more mass, a heavier fitting burden and not a single extra hitpoint to account for!

BTW, the regenerative platings are trimarks for low slots minus the speed penalty but stacking penalized instead. They got 1600mm RTs beaten as soon as you have more than 28k raw armor HP (before plates and trimarks). They are nice on capitals.

What about Shield Flux Coils, They don't seem to be beneficial by making your ship almost instapoppable. I don't think I've ever seen someone run a fit with one.
