When running multiple clients under Linux & Wine the game crashes on one or more of the clients.
This often lead to a settings reset.
Sometimes I don't get my login names chached, and when I get that back my window positions, overview tabs, etc. have been reset to default.

Is there anyone that's got a clue to what I can do to prevent this?
Or has anyone experienced the same issues?

Sometimes I even have to accept the license agreement again! :(

Backup your settings now and then, even running just one client that happens sometimes. The other way is to start Eve.exe with /end /LUA:OFF and actually have multiple installations of Eve.

I guess a bash script in crontab is my next step then.

Just for clarification, what is /LUA short for?

Hmm... that's a good question Smile It makes Eve store the user settings in EveFolder/settings instead of in the user profile. Which makes it possible to have different settings for different installations.

I personally use two different .wine directories for each client, but run off the same eve-online install (so I don't need multiple copies of the game taking up space on my hd -- just about 100Megs for each .wine dir) and never have any issue with settings not being saved or the two clients conflicting with eachother.

I have the game installed in /home/games/eve-online and map /home/games to D:

I then have the following two scripts for running each of my clients:

eve1:
#!/bin/sh
WINEPREFIX="/home/jaimos/.wine-eve1" wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1920x1080 "D:\eve-online\eve.exe"

eve2:
#!/bin/sh
WINEPREFIX="/home/jaimos/.wine-eve2" wine explorer /desktop=EVE2,1920x1080 "D:\eve-online\eve.exe"

This way any temp files that get written in the virtual wine environment (.wine dir) don't conflict with each other and though they are running off the same binaries, the setting/config/cache data is separated for the two clients to prevent conflicts.

Aah... clever.
