There is no reason to allow hulks to mine in 0.8 space and above. I think there should be a limit that hulks only be allowed to mine in public belts in space 0.7 and lower. A hulk mining in 0.8 and up is like the biggest baddest ship in the game hiding inside the golden death star with a planet surrounding it and then a giant impenetrable shield around that. If they HAVE to go there to mine in a mission way-point then fine but no more public mining fields for hulks in 0.8 or higher space. Either their warp drives will no longer carry them to those belts or their lasers or strip miners will no longer activate in proximity to public mining space.

It only takes three months to train to a hulk, and soon you will be getting skillpoints to distribute.

Apparently people in Hulks aren't members of the public.

Because the op is on a trend of making poorly thought out posts about mining.

And apparently mines in areas that are over populated by hulks.

Ok, and I think anything larger than a frigate shouldn't be allowed to do missions in .8 and up.Rolling Eyes

hm..

contract your stuff to me.
all cap ships should be able to dock, even super caps.
no cap ships can undock.
all cap ships in space will auto self desruct
everyone in eve gives there stuff to me
i win eve
i own ccp
THEN maybe, hulks can no longer be in .8+space

I figured I'd get troller posts towards this. No one wants to stop mining in noob space with giant mining barges that clear out an asteroid field in a matter of hours. No they'd rather destroy the mining opportunity for the noobs who do need to make some money and practice mining and mine in nooby safe areas because they are to stupid and pathetic to go mine in 0.7 or lower even though their ship can clearly take it.

HerpingYourDerp your post will be ignored completely.

I would like a dev to comment on this and tell me their opinion. Maybe finally I'll have a professional reply and not some random person here to insult the idea and not tell me why.

So people. WHY SHOULD HULKS BE ABLE TO MINE IN 0.8 AND UP? Why should hulks be allowed to sit there and take out entire asteroid fields with the ease and the knowledge that they have no real enemies that could possibly hurt them. This would certainly make macro mining a little bit harder. I haven't ever used a hulk but I'm not going to be a noob and mine in 0.8 or higher with it.

I normally don't like to, but I will answer your question with a question, why shouldn't hulks fly in 0.8 space and up?

0.8 space and up isn't noob space, its just higher sec status, concord responds quicker, no npc rats in belts, and there are less valuable ores available, other then this its the same as 0.5 to 0.7 space.

There is nothing wrong with the current system, nothing to fix. Please explain why this is an issue aside from the fact that you may have an issue mining due to being in an over populated area, in which case you should move.

1.0 to 0.8 space isn't any safer then any other highsec in any meaningful way.

As far as getting a dev reply, this is rare, and just because you say you want a dev reply doesn't mean you will get one, more then likely they will read this thread, lol and go on about reading threads with ideas to fix issues, and not just your personal issue but, issues that effect the player base as a whole.

You should run the numbers on mining battleships (eg Rokh)- they can eat a lot of ore too.

should they be banned as well?

now the only thing i agree on is removeing hulk use in 1.0 space-(not hulks themselfs only the ore extractors dont work)

(and the only resion is) - so that new players have the chance to find ore outside thier 1.0 stations, and for no other resion since, they have to use ittys and a hulk can effectively in numbers clear a belt in 15-20 minutes,

that is my opinion, BUT ---

i am not saying to do it, or implement into the game,

just something i think would be fair to new players, since ccp can never do without new players or the pvp, ersWink to shoot (it gives them time to get into the game)

I the difference between 0.7 and 0.8 is in 0.7 and lower NPCs do more damage. 0.8 they do so little damage that you can tank them in a tiny useless crappy ship. In 0.9 and 1.0 there are no NPCs whatsoever. This is why I think hulks should be rejected mining ability in high sec and restricted to low or mid sec. This might force players to be more active rather than macro miners using it to their advantage.

I never said anything about banning anyone. I just think that hulks mining in 0.8 and higher are mostly macro users or just noobs to afraid to go in lower space.

let me rephrase:

should they be stopped from mining in 0.8+ as well?

is this a make it easier for me to gank hulks thread?

Jaik7

i'd compare this thread to complaining that you can do lvl 1 missions in a battleship, which is not fair.

frankly, most of the systems that are school systems are just not worth mining. the rocks fall apart before a hulk cycle is done, and there tends to only be one belt. better that you say that the schools asembly lines are being clogged by older players than that the hulks are mining out newbie belts, because there's just not enough profit in it for anyone to do so.

I am a hulk pilot, this would directly affect me. i agree that hulks are probably overpowered, but restricing them to that degree would not only be hard to implement, it would'nt have much effect aside from making .5-.7 overpopulated and depleted. you don't think that this rule will force hulks to mine in lowsec?

the reason to let hulk pilots mine in higher secs is because that is where people do business. if there is a great buy order, i will go there. people tend to put such buy orders out in the higher secs, mostly because that's where the npc factories are.

in closing, i'm going to have to call troll on the op. sounds like he only wanted a response.ugh

I am not a troll. I have played for a while and I have flown to several belts all over the place in high sec and they are depleted. I am angry because in high sec I can't mine and I tried mining in 0.5 sec with my current ship and it's both slow and I continue having to call for support every time rats show up. But whatever. Shut down the thread simply because you want to call me a troll for wanting more mining possibility for newer players. Go ahead and troll up the thread simply because hulk miners are to scared to mine in anything lower than 0.8. You could at least agree that 0.9 and 1.0 space needs to be kept free of hulk mining as those are basically starter systems.

A) Get a better tank for your ship, rats in 0.5 are a joke DPS-wise.

b) Maybe you want to start doing some missions, some of them offer tasty roids as a "little" extra or at least ask some mission runner to team up with you and share profits.
For example: The Score (serpentis) has Pyroxeres Roids (approx 1.47 Million units), doesnt sound that bad for high sec, right?

c) Your problem is rather the overpopulation in high-sec than the use of hulks there.
If its any comfort to you, this issue is around since ~2004, long befor hulks were introduced btw. Either go low-sec or go for 0.0 and mine there. 0.0 is by far the easiest way to go if you join an alliance, as you get so much support (belt tanking, recon, mining bonuses, ship replacement, logistics [not the ships], etc.) you can do it half-afk.

I think my real concern is these macro miners use high sec all the time for no real reason at all. That's why the hulk miners annoy me. Every single one except for 1 I've met in high sec doing the standard block all communication thing has been a macro miner. The only person in a hulk mining in high sec was someone I found who was talkative and so I mined with him and he gave me 100% of what he mined while I was there chatting. Everyone else had the exact same mining time frames and return frequencies. Anyway I guess we should just forget the topic since it's going to be ignored anyway.

what does that prove?all maxed skilled and simmilar fitted hulks will have the same cycle time and fill their cargo in the same ammount of time. i tend to semi-watch tv or read a book when i mine and i do not want to talk to some random guy in a belt. that does not make me a macro miner!

No human player is exact with their moves. You don't warp in, spend EXACTLY the same precise time mining then warp out and come back in the same precise time that you were gone last time. It usually varies by a little bit.

LOL even bots know enough to vary bit by bit.

I mine like real men should.. through blood, sweat, and slaves.
