See if this works - Open your client, and just let it sit there for 10 minutes, then log in. So far, it's worked every time for me, even though if I try to log in immediatly after starting the client, it fails every time.

Don't ask me to explain it, I only know that it works for me.

Wow it actually worked! I don't know how the gameplay will be, but it worked.

When I did it, it worked just like it did pre-patch.

Bahnhof said today 7 dec that they have fixed the issue late last night or early this morning. I can not confirm this, someone else who can?

It doesn't work all the time sadly. But it did work once just now.

Looks like it is going faster, got in instally. took sometime to load things, still get fps drops doesnt matter what settings i use, best performence or not.

open cargoholes, seeing information on people works fast. Jumping through gates works instally. Have not yet deployet drones or been in combat.

edit: what have they fixed bahnhof?

If it's what we've been discussing in this thread they simply applied a signature update to their traffic shapers.

Sreegs, I love you man, but I need to get some info about this patch, since my uni is freaking the hell out about it.

I've given them your email address for security, but they have it in their heads that what ever patch they need to apply is going to break the network.

Can I get some confirmation on what exactly needs to be done to apply the patch? I know its just a "signature update" but how serious could it possibly be? From what I'm reading, it doesn't seem much more complicated than updating your anti-virus definitions. Correct me if I'm wrong, because my roommate and I have been giving our tech support hell about it. (Granted they are grossly incompetent. "You should go off campus to install the patch" "THATS NOT WHAT I SAID")

Why CCP require player to do something instead of fixing the game?
The problem is obviously due to the new patch.
Why don't you just get rid of the bad thing? or even roll back because it is NOT playable.

Bahnhof have not yet applied any patches to their DPI, it's the same lag as yesterday during peak hours. can take a few minutes to reprocess 5 items, 3 minutes to undock. It gets better during the night or early morning when there's less network traffic.
I'm still yelling at their customer support. I will switch to another isp if they don't solve this before the weekend.

With all customers having this problem, not just bahnhof, but all the other isp's, universities and whatever, it would be best if ccp revert to the previous network connection for a month or 2 until our slow ISP's have managed to update these DPI's. Not so sure they do it every single time there's a new signature.

The problem have never been with our ISP. The problem have been and still is with ccp ****ing up the game with a patch.

I want compensation for this mess, bring back the quafe girl.

Please roll back to Tyrannis. We don't want T2&rocket buff. We don't need new menu. We don't need ****ty MWD icon. We don't need whatever you CCP think is good.

Just put us back to Tyrannis which was PLAYABLE.

Currently, i have excellent speed through bahnhof, quick response in the game, even the ingame browser works. Absolutely no lag at all. It's to early to say yet, but i do get the feeling they updated that DPI a few minutes ago.

Until today I was able to log in, just not do anything serious due to terrible delays/lag/whatever you want to call it. Now I am unable to log in. Connection failed. The socket was closed. So I guess it's gotten worse for me, although it hasn't really been playable since patch.

Personally, I just don't know about this traffic shaper bizness, or maybe there are multiple causes.

Actually, if you're experiencing the issue in this topic, it has everything to do with your ISP. They have hardware installed to block/shape/control your bandwidth/connections and this is the stuff at the heart of the issue - it's issuing a false positive. (It thinks you're torrenting instead of blowing up interweb spaceships/roids.) CCP have done everything they can to fix it for you guys, FAR more than they even needed to do, as typically this is palmed off by the developer to go onto the list of "it's an ISP problem".

If you don't want this to happen, vote with your wallet and select an ISP that doesn't shape your traffic. You'll find most ISP's care far less about their customers than CCP does. Wink

For you college guys; Any chance of bouncing your connection through a VPN? (such as this) Or do they block those requests as well? (Never had to live off one of those connections, so wouldn't know :/)

The truth, CCP is not to blame that most ISP:s (including mine) don't deliver a clean Internet connection. That ISP:s filter and block stuff is not something CCP can do anything about. Especially when if my guess is correctly that all CCP did was change a number in the protocol header that tells the server witch version of the protocol that is used.

So we should really get the ISP:s to get their act together, not that I have much hope this garbage is getting to common.

IT IS CCP PROBLEM.
Because it didn't happen before incursion patch.
Why do we have to change ISP just because a game's patch?
It is totally ridiculous.

Your ISP is watching you play and has decided that you are illegally sharing files. You need to gently remind them (possibly by moving to another service) that you aren't.

The isp have not changed filters or decided anything since the patch, the filters have been there all the time, only eve online have changed and now runs something that is not supported 100% i think by the isp

I got mail from bahnhof business support today, they say the problem should be solved, and i confirm that my connection is back to normal, absolutely no lag, no disconnects, no connection-related problems of any kind since around 22:30 yesterday, the game is now working just the way it should.

They might have done it for your connection or business customers, mine still have problems, it is a little bit better, but still lags like hell, when opening show info's etc.

It is more than a tad annoying on our side as well. There is an important principle of network theory called the End to End Principle - which essentially states that it is the endpoints that make protocol decisions, and only the endpoints. However, as so often happens, the nice tidy world of network theory meets real life, and it doesn't all quite work out as the designers intended. The ISP's doing this kind of filtering is a violation of that principle, a somewhat necessary one from their perspective, but still.

As CCP Sreegs has explained, we changed our protocol exchange to improve it a little, and discovered it was being used as an identifier for EVE traffic. It was never intended for that purpose, and nobody asked us if it would be a good idea to use it for that.

If you contact your ISP, this should be an easy issue for them to fix on their side. Ask them to contact us, at security@ccpgames.com and we will provide any assistance they need. This sort of thing happens fairly frequently unfortunately. There's a lot of sorting out behind the scenes that goes on between ISP's and network providers that isn't usually exposed to public view.

But maybe a callscript i could tell them :D i would be more then happy to tell them what to do :D

Thank you for improving it a "little" which makes no change for most of us. There are still module lags, grid loads very slow.. etc.

Could you keep up that "improve" until we can play as the same as before?

Can't ask for much more than that, and if everyone you've contacted uses the same program, I'm sure it's widespread. As I stated in my first post, can you provide the name of the program? I could probably track down whoever manages it if I knew a little bit about it.

When is the moronic CCP going to learn to test its patches properly before releasing - especially in a case like this where it relates to changes to the prerequisite for even playing the game, i.e. AN INTERNET CONNECTION!

The continous incompetence and complacancy of this company after almost 10 years in business, is simply staggering!

You are only here because there is no better alternative!

This is like Boot.ini all over again - something I am sure your competitors haven't quite stopped lauging about.

What a Mickey Mouse operation you are...
