I’ve seen reference to “bitter vets emo rage quitting”, but I haven’t seen any of the threads. Every time CCP makes a major change to the game, much less something as outrageous as removing the Learning Skills, there are people who quit EVE and announce it with a thread on the forums. Typically these threads are moved from General Discussion to Out of Pod Experience.

This time, no threads? Removing the Learning Skills is a major change to the game. There are people leaving because of it. Regardless of which side of the issue you’re on, you have to wonder where those threads are.

So here’s the question. Did CCP simply delete them as a form of forum moderation?

There is no such. Most vets are happyvets about the change. The bitter ones have been laughed out, with requests for stuff before WOW.

I would gather if any are leaving, they are doing it quietly out of shame.

Btw, I lol'd at the "outrageous" part, you are quite the comedian :)

IF you leave, dont forget to contract stuffs plz. I'll remember you fondly 4l

Some are not happy as they see it dumbing the game down, which is an arguable point, others are just whining sadists who would prefer that everyone else had to go through the same crap they did.

There were a lot of threads, but everyone has gotten used to it now and they've mostly been pushed off the board.

Nah I don't think the mods would have to resort to something like that for this type of change. It is a fundamental mind set change for CCP but the folks who might understand that and really quit or cut back on their accts. etc are the sort who would most likely just shrug their shoulders and walk away.
And good riddance to them I say. To all two of them!
Eve belongs to us new players now. And we want to PLAY the game and have fun the moment we step into space. Skill training (yawn.boring! I'd rather have levels than skills so the bitter vests couldn't complain anymore).
Isk earning (everyone just buys their isk anyway so why not just make it easier to earn) and long travel times etc. just get in the way of having fun.
And the forums belong to us now too and we will keep posting and posting until all the old bitter and somewhat mythical vets go back to WoW where they belong.
We rock and they dont.

Most of the traditional bittervet havens (SHC, kugu) are actually happy with this patch. It's bizzaroworld.

Because those that wanted to keep them were the very small minority. I think I saw more alts than actual mains arguing to keep them. Kinda sad really.

There really weren't that many of them. Maybe a dozen at most. If they all did quit then good riddance. Anything that improves the new player experience is a good thing, no matter how much whining a small handful of players do.

Heh you should have seen forums yesterday =D. There were about 10 of em spam posting on forums with the rest of the forums telling em to quit *****ing and go figure out how to spend their new found SPs.

Guess they got tired of trying. Go back a few pages and you'll see the whining in full force.

Ah it is funny, see the "i want to pwn now" sorta mindset is what will kill eve as it was... and it is dying, learning skills were one of those things other games just did not have... it was a choice to make, you know they would help... but you REALLY wanted frig 3...

Just as the bloodline skills are gone, reading was too hard, just pick and choose, so choice did not matter...

We will soon be left with just another dumb mindless game...

I'd not call myself a "vet" but I'm out... and I know of many other people who are not "vets" but are leaving or on the fence about it... yep over "learning skills" amoung other things...

Have fun in easy blobs online.

learning skills are gone, Lemmy is happy, his alt is happy. Just trying to figeure out where to put is all is alittle daunting.

people who complain about eve being less hardcore.. go find a game as brutal as this one.

how many times do we see some poor noob get ganked, by the guy that wiped out all his assets, and then laughed at on the forum when he emo cries, and told do deinstall and go play wow. Eve will be fine. attracting is all well and good. So long as CCP remembers that it's existence depends completely on the "I kill him and loot his corpse, death and life have consequences model" They'll continue to exist and do well. The second they start dumbing that down well.. StarWars MMORPG is coming out sometime early next year. or even Final Fantasy mmorpg. If eve ever gets to the point where it gets hard to tell the difference between it and all the other mmorpgs, I'll be the first one to bail and goto a better pve style mmorpg.

I think you mean the 'I wanna play now' mindset. Eve is/was the only mmorpg I've ever played that went out of its way to make new players want to quit.

I unsubbed two alt accounts because of this christmas gift.

Still thinking if giving this last one a rest too.

Making an emo-rage-quit-thread about this is pretty useless as all you get are flames, go back to wow´s, and can i haz your stufz replies.

Those 70 % of players who did´nt max out their learning skills have won, there was enough whining over the last year, coverd in "make it easier for newbies" threads.

People that haven't trained these skills are happy they don't have to, I imagine most people with them trained (5/5 myself with 5/4 charisma) are looking forward to the instant refund training.

There will always be people that mistake eve for a job and so want to keep as much tedium is as possible, it's a small minority though.

I'll make this clear now - I support the removal of the learning skills. BUT there is justified whine to be had here. People who trained learning skills are being done out of SP.

Without learning skills everyone starts with higher base attribs and faster training time. To learn all the learning skills you had to start with lower attribs and slower training time.

A newbie character takes around 150d to max learning skills.

A character with the attribs of maxed learning skills (as will be the case when the skills are removed), to learn the SAME number of SP as it would take for a newbie to max learning, does it in about 125d.

That's 25d of extra training time old timers had to spend to get the same SP.

I demand - on pain of emoragequit - that CCP implement a massively more complex and convoluted system of SP reimbursement that takes into account these factors.

Or just give everyone +20% extra SP of what they will receive under the current plan. That will restore balance and prevent me having to give away all my stuffs.

No, quite the opposite: their removal now opens up more choice. The learning skills were something you had to do (just like everyone else did) in order to stay even with everyone else. Now, you can pick what you actually want to do and make a choice that makes you different. If everyone picks the same thing, it is rather safe to assume that it's not really a choice to pick the other option…

Again, quite the opposite: the bloodlines meant less choice — you picked a bloodline and was handed stuff automatically and without any say in the matter. Now you actually have to choose for yourself what you want to train. We actually non-Achura characters following what used to be the Achura-specific path…

You are quite poorly informed about how the change has come about. You also offer (in other threads, admittedly) the ultimate view of why they should be removed: because not maxing them out is "doing it wrong" — i.e. it wasn't a choice…

Your posts do make me laugh (unfortunately at you rather than with you), you come out with these statements and show no reasoning for them. Other than I'm right and most other people are wrong.

My IQ has more digits than your sp count.

That said there is no valid defense of objecting to the Learning Skill change. I have 5,376,000 Learning sp. And I'm looking forward to making it more than Improved Skill Grinding sp.

Ok, Tippia, i did a little bit of math on your argument that learning skills are no "choice" but mandatory (to max out) if you are clear in mind.

Regarding to eveboard, chribbs excellent service, there are 24795 pilots listed (yesterday 16.30 CET).
When looking at my mains learning rank it was saying that i´m 1695th with maxed out learning skills, so this should be the highest possible number, and i read it this way that 1695 of 24795 have maxed out learning skills.

To me this is saying that 6,8 % of players did max them out. When reading some tabs of learning skills like perception i´m ranked 8196, which means that a lot of players maxed them out, while at charisma i´m 593 which might mean that i´m not so smart as i think.

Btw. Intelligence ranks me at 4742 and memory at 3504 which is still a very low percentage of all players who have maxed them.

Now, when you are arguing that learning skills are not a "choice" but a "must have" i can´t see how this argument still stands. Obviously there are nearly 93 % of all of eveboard listed players who don´t have maxed them, i.e. made the CHOICE of NOT maxing them.

Personally i feel that these numbers are VERY low so that i´m not sure if i misinterpreted them, and knowing my math is not the best does´nt make me feel more confident.

On eve-online germany there were numbers running around like 70 % of german players haven´t maxed them out, but i can´t find the thread anymore.

If you can correct me, i would gladly apologize.
