As a number of people have pointed out, those of us who have chosen to specialize (min/max) our characters' attributes toward one extreme or another will, with the upcoming learning changes, find ourselves short up to one point in our favorite attribute. Granted, we're gaining a large sum of skill points to spend and most of us would be coming out on top for many months to come, but I for one am rather fond of my outrageously stacked attributes.

To this end, I would like to suggest that the +12 base points per attribute be reduced to +10 base points per attribute, paired with a passive +10% bonus to all attribute totals (total := (base + remap + implant) * 1.1).

How about dropping all the learning skills except Learning, leaving that skill as it is, and only giving a 10 point bump to all attributes?

Every suggestion who targets at giving less base points wont get my support.

I agree that people who have learned all skills to 5 should get a small bonus SP incentive. But giving yourself more base points I would be a permanent learning nerf for other people. Why should I get permanent 100 learning speed less? Are you better then me?

The only way Imho would be to give for each advanced learning skill at 5 a bonus of SP's. You have all five at lvl 5 you would get an extra 1.000.000 sp to distribute. After all those players will be more experienced long time player. So 1 million more or less to them wont hurt. If you have 4 at lvl 5 you would get 800.000 sp extra.

But keep the fingers from the base points. They are here to get rid of the old (bad) learning system. Dont punish the players for it! Wink

You're losing out on 72 sp/hour.

Just take the points you get refunded and instead of spending them all at once, add those 72 skillpoints every hour for the next 8 years.

After those 8 years you start being worse off then you are now with your training speed.

I'd be pretty happy as if, but hey, for some people it's never enough.

This sentiment does make me chuckle. I am very happy to be getting my 5.4m sp back to play about with, don't get me wrong.

However if the reverse was true, ie that everyone who made the effort to max out their attributes were to get an extra permanent attribute there would be an outcry from people like yourself that you couldnt ever catch up with those people in terms of skill training times. There would be a river of tears from people like yourself that would never have bothered to train up that last point.

All those (like Akita T) have said is that everyone should get an extra attribute point to make the max attribute more equitable to 'max learning skills' as it is now. Thats not crying, it is merely common sense.

People in your boat - speed up their learning skills for no outlay

People in my boat - have their training speed reduced slightly.

If the majority of people in eve were in my boat there would be a river of tears. As we are the minority, in your words, we are 'babies' for pointing out the disparity and asking for it to be more equitable.

I just want to point out that:

Those "future" 72 SP per hour we're losing, are being offset with 5.4 million SP we can use NOW.

I'm one of the ppl with maxed learnings, on 2 accounts in fact, so I hate to argue against any bonus SP. If we got them, I'd accept them Cool

I'm just saying, It seems like ppl are overlooking a huge gift thats about to be given them.

They aren't manufacturing this SP out of thin air and giving it to us as a gift. It is SP that I already had. You can't give me something that was already mine. Say, why don't you come over to my house for christmas...snag my car keys, rap 'em up and then tell me you bought me a new car which just happens to be my current car.

Weird I haven't spotted Gallians in here yet. No worries. She'll be along with the usual blah blah you have no argument routine.

you greedy people. you get 97.4% of current maximum training speed AND you are getting all skill points from Learning skills. how is that NOT SP from thin air?

so, training speed goes down 72 SP/hour? so what? is world gonna crumble down? by what god given right you claim it? this is CCP's game. read the EULA. they can change every single thing.

is this some kind of "lets fight them now because who knows what's gonna come next"? this is nothing. this is not important. fight the fight when it matters.

stop claiming what you have absolutely no right for.

Hmm...so it is your contention that I have absolutely no right to simply want to train at the same speed I did before the change? Why do I have no right to want what I had before? I'd say I have every right to want that. Whether the wish is granted is another thing. There's hope, though. After all, you anti-learning skill people managed to scream loud enough to get them to cave in and remove them. Using your argument that it's CCP's game simply means that you guys had no right to argue for the removal of the learning skills. I'm assuming you thought you had the right to argue for that, yes?

Oh and...how are you missing the point that its not SP from thin air? It's SP you already had. They aren't giving you anything you didn't already have.

Also, thanks for the 97.4% stat. You do know that 97.4% < 100% right?

And finally, I'd say you are the greedy people. You wanted the benefit of the learning skills but not the ISK or time sink of them. I wanted the benefit of them too, but I put in the time to have it. You got it for free and you're dopey enough to accuse me of greed? I'm calling for fairness and equity. You already got your handout. Just pipe down.

You already got fairness and equality. Just spend your huge refund from the heaven that can now be put towards useful skills into whichever skill you are training at the moment once an hour. And as if by magic, you will train at exactly the same speed for 8 years more.

Your greed knows no end if you want more than that, plus the benefit you already got from the learnings. In effect you have got quite a few sp extra from training them and 5.3 million sp FROM THE HEAVENS, and yet you complain?

The one asking for a handout here is you sir. But there should be a time to say "enough".

Ok but my attributes WON'T be exactly the same. They will be up to 1 full point lower. How am I supposed to not notice that? Aside from making a conscious choice to ignore the loss? If they would remove the learning skills and fully compensate for all lost attribute points, we'd have no issue here. But they aren't.

and that's why you get skill points reimbursed to compensate for the loss of maximum training speed. it will last you for up to 8 years of current maximum speed. read devblog thread, it's all there. multiple times. people already did the math.

if you really want fairness and equality, you should ask CCP NOT to reimburse Learning skills, so that everyone will have same training speed. how about that?

Real fairness is remove them AND the bonus they confer and slow all training times down. sound good to you?

What I'm getting from everyone who's arguing with me is...I'm wrong to seek fairness and equality. Those are not desirable. Those are not to be had. Those are not anyone's right to seek out. I think I'm in the Twilight Zone.

you are not seeking "fairness and equality". you are trying to maintain Status Quo. why is your sense of aesthetics more important than anyone elses? why was 39 base attribute points points CCP gave us for this 7 years better than 40? why will 99 be better than 100? why 2700 and not 2772?

the point is, however you cut it, someone is gonna get hurt. there is no pleasing everyone. what is so important in 72 SP/hour that you got to have them? is that really so crucial to your enjoyment of the game? just because you train at 2772 now, doesn't mean you should only be training faster, and not slower. why is it so important? you already have bunch of SP. why do you want even more?

certainly not for "fairness and equality".

You are wrong, actually, it is fairness he seeks :P

Pantload I replied to you here with a bit more of a reasoned/understanding approach rather than just arguing. I trust you still wont like my final 'verdict' on it but perhaps you can see why it is going to be this way, and why despite you losing some training speed it's a 'necessary evil' as it were.

Welcome to eve...when they fix things...someone always gets the shortend of the stick.

Dominion...all the players from apocrypha and beyond saw exploration skills dumbed down and no compensation for the long trains needed to do it the old way. Differnce in train was like, what, 25 days at least iirc.

OG players from day 1...saw bloodline based stats go away with no compensation (any alts they made after the change over...have more stat points than the mains if learing and implants equal).

In the many take away learning threads I posted in before...stated its wasn't going to be fair for everyone if it happened. CCP likes repeating history. Newer players getting their cherries popped now...welcome to the club. Few more expansions you too will be the bitter vets you make fun of now.

This offer by ccp actually the fairest one so far and moderately suprised in fact. I had much worse endings to this implementation tbh.

No. All bloodlines always had the same amount of stat points. At most, you lost the ability to have raw stats higher than 15 and lower than 5, but if you had an older character, you were still allowed to keep those out-of-bounds stats (until you remapped).

Nothing was taken away.

My motivation is not greed. You've already accused me of that, and well...whatever, but that was not what I'm after here. A good case for that would be: If greed is what's driving me, why only ask that I get to keep what I had before? Why not ask for a lot more? Why not ask for the moon? That would certainly be greedy and out-of-line. Asking merely to keep what you have is simple self-preservation. And my god, please don't give me the maintaining status quo again. Each and every one of you possess your instinct for self-preservation and that is not maintaining the status quo, its just looking out for your self. If one were greedy, one's self-interest would be drive them to seek more than they are entitled to and typically at the expense of others. If one were not particularly greedy, one's self-interest would drive them to maintain what they have. I'm not seeing the problem here.

for what it's worth, i found OP to be within spirit of CCP intention: reimburse Learning skill points, add 10 to base, have internal 1.1 multiplier on skill points. i'm not going to "die" fighting for it, but it can have my vote.

for what it's worth, i found OP to be within spirit of CCP intention: reimburse Learning skill points, add 10 to base, have internal 1.1 multiplier on skill points. i'm not going to "die" fighting for it, but it can have my vote.

Ok. That would accomplish what I've been pushing for which would leave our attributes pretty much exactly the same as before the change and thus our training speeds the same as before.

*edit*
my proposal was within spirit of CCP intention. It would just have gone about it in a slightly different way and arrived at almost exactly the same place.

5 million SP at the cost of 72 sp/hr.

That comes out to roughly ~580,000 SP per year.

It will take you 8 years to feel the effects of this loss. For 8 years you will have bonus SP on your account.

Lock post till 2018 plz. :-P
