so i've been missioning with Amarr Navy, Suukuvestaa, and Caldari Navy for a while, but i dont know where to go after those

i have 4.1 with AN, 2.5 with Suuku, and 1.9 with CN. im heading for getting into L4s for all of them, but i dont know who to mission with next. are the Amarr and Caldari storyline missions worth it? should i move on to say Sarum or Hyasoda?

i dont want to do missions for Gallente or Minmatar since thatll bring my standings down with Amarr and Caldari at some point, and i already have -2 with Thukker and -1 with Minmatar and -1.25 with Gallente.

any advise would be sweet! cheers!

1. Do you actually need faction standing for anything in particular?

If you don't, then you're free to run missions for pretty much anyone you like — just avoid storylines and anti-empire missions.

2. Why do you need to go somewhere else?

If the goal is to get to L4s, just keep on grinding the same corps you've already worked for until you get high enough.

Pretty much what tippia said. If you are going for lvl 4s then its kinda pointless to change corps all the time. Also your standings arent exactly "high" either.

Well they are low if you are considering lvl 4s and already changing, if you get me? Wink

What about all the research corps? I know I had to get Lai Dai up to 4 so I could use a good research agent.

Sisters of Eve may be good.

Go look at the various epic arcs. I know I had to stop doing the Caldari as I didn't have the necessary standing with either Expert Distribution or another corp. Those would help you.

Depends what you want to do. Since I'm mostly industrial, I spent a month or so running missions for Poksu in Caldari space upto 7.0 or 8.0, so I could use them for perfect, tax free refining.

Then I started on Lai Dai so I can use their best R&D agents. I'm just about done with Lai Dai, since I don't see any need to get above 6.7 with them.

I'll probably just stick with those two, maybe some Caldari Navy here and there.

Since I mine and refine, I look for where I want to do my mining at, and then build up my standings with a corp in the same system to 6.7 for perfect refining. As I also do trading, I'll also work on the corps of the stations I trade on as it lowers transaction fees a bit. But it sounds like you want to mostly run missions, so find a sweet spot where there are several high quality level 4 agents in the same system. Then grind up to be able to use them. That way when you have to decline a mission with one, you can move quickly to the next one. But please build up one first, then add to it once you reach that higher agent level or are waiting for your skills to catch up to your mission levels.

is there any reason to push to have high faction standings?

i have been grinding the hell out of tash murkon family but it is destroying my minmatar standing to the point that its almost -6.0 and i havent even hit lvl 3 missions with tash family.

so i started looking for corps that are close enough for me to grind out some min standing, which lowers the amarr standing i have... is that what i'm going to have to do, if i don't want to get locked out of a certain part of space?

also, is there any negative to just ignoring all of the storyline missions? i've never actually gotten a good reward from any of them...

The reasons for going for faction standing basically come down to:

1. Easier time to start running missions for new corps. If you have 6.0 standing with a faction, for instance, you get access to all the L4Q0 agents belonging to that faction and don't have to grind the crops individually. Some agents (most notably R&D) operate on a slightly different mechanic, but since you instantly get access to higher-level agents of that corp, you can grind the required standings with it very fast.

2. Free BPCs from COSMOS agents. Once you get high enough (as in 8.5–10.0) you get a one-shot deal on each of the original faction ships — one for the navy frigate, one for the navy cruiser, one for the navy BS.

3. Being able to anchor POSes in high-sec space. Once you get above 5.0 standing between your corp and the faction, you can start plunking down your own POS — the standing you need is 10× the sec level of the system (so 5.0 for a 0.5 system, 6.0 for a 0.6 and 7.0 for a 0.7).

…aaaand I have this strong feeling that there is a fourth use that I've forgotten. Bleh.

No. None. Unless you somehow mange to rack up 2+ storylines form the same agent within the standard 4h rejection cooldown period and feel the need to ditch them both (which would still be unnecessary, since you could just leave the offers in your journal and a new storyline agent would be picked for your next mission as long as the first one is still "in the queue").
