Maybe in some other universe Anyway, great job on reducing the DT. Have you been able to shift maintenance jobs so they can be done while TQ is open or have their need been eleminated. |

Great news, but can we be trusted to take our own breaks? Is this really a responsible thing to be doing to us? |

Great news...and really something to look forward to and am curious to see how things like asteroid re-seeding and other "DT Depdendent" activities get addressed when there is no more downtime.

Edited by: Zabby Gabby on 29/10/2010 11:31:36Nice! Except without a downtime it will be so much easier for people to macromine/courir/mission/rat. (turn macro on and go on a holiday) Not sure I would like that. |

They come flying in from all Directions, if your in a Belt at 11 run. Run as fast as you can and don't look back! But all joking aside it just means we will get to see Criba Jetisoning it from the Veldnought. |

So was this bad timing or what - 11:36 and the Server status is still "Unknown" :)
Also for the Pedants out there - can you fix the server time, its off by over 1 minute. Also can you fix my clients time - varies from server by up to 30 seconds. |

But but but... if downtime is only 30 minutes, what will happen to the saying of "23/7"? |

So in a world without DT, what will happen to 0.0 players who get stuck in space due to one of the literally dozens of things that sometimes go wrong? I'm thinking specifically of systems not loading the characters properly and not ending their sessions, leaving people stranded with unusable characters until someone restarts the system.
As you might be aware, GMs refuse to support 0.0 players with these matters. There is the very real risk of getting people stuck for however long it might be until a node is rebooted.
To tell a campfire story, during 2009 i was travelling with a fleet around 100 people through period basis towards delve. We were somewhat scattered over three systems and moving fast, when suddenly one of the systems on our way just trapped people. They did not load grid while chat worked fine. Nobody could move and relogging didn't work.
Four hours and several escalated petitions later, there was still no gm willing to reboot the node, kill our sessions, or do whatever it takes to get out of there. All of us had to wait until DT to be able to leave the system again.
There were precisely two hostiles in that system, trapped with us..
So, long story short: You're aware that unless you revise GM policies, a "no downtime" doctrine will severely hurt 0.0 players? |

It is our goal that sometime in the not too distant future, EVE Online will have no daily downtime. How awesome will that be!
A worthwhile goal, good luck reaching it. Gratz on reducing downtime! Maybe as CCP gets closer to their ultimate goal you can outline how in-game seeding and calculations that were performed during downtime will work. |

No downtime would be nice at it will make exploring so much easier (static signature IDs). :) Originally by: Arthur Pewty So was this bad timing or what - 11:36 and the Server status is still "Unknown" :)
Yup I was wondering the same. We'll probably see a lot of extended downtimes in the future. Originally by: Arthur Pewty Also for the Pedants out there - can you fix the server time, its off by over 1 minute. Also can you fix my clients time - varies from server by up to 30 seconds.
I've seen client time vary by 2 minutes between 2 clients run on the same machine. Just disregard client time... |
